The Piazza's own several McDonalds in North County. The one at 3400 Del Lago is by far the worst. Long waits at counter and in drive-thru are routine. Many times you get a hot burger and cold fries, or vice versa. Lately, myself and other family members have noticed the fries taste funny. Whether hot or cold, the taste is just not right. The Piazza's need to replace the management of this location. There seems to a ;ack of personnel working there. I called out to 3 workers near drive-up window who were joking around. They said "we don't work front counter & the gal that does is out at her car right now". The only reason I checked into this McDonald's is to give a review. This is by far the worst one I have ever visited. I will admit I have been here before and each time it keeps getting worse. The service is terrible, the employees have personal conversations instead of serving the clients, orders are usually incorrect and most times they seem confused. Yesterday the girl that took my order didn't even know I could order a two cheeseburger combo. I had to convince her there was, and she went and asked another employee, who then assisted her. Bad all the way around. The person asked 3 times to say the order as he mentioned the audio was bad. They didn't have the ice cream machine working and said it has been broken for a week (seems common at McDonalds, but why would you ever tell a customer it has been broken for a week?) . Well we just stopped by for some (before golf) fries, but this wasn't our first time visiting this McDonald's. Unfortunately this location is crammed into the corner of this plaza, so there is not much dining space or parking space for that matter. It shares a small amount of available parking with quite a few other places in that plaza, and it also has a drive-thru which kind of limits you to not parking in the spaces that are close to the drive-thru so you aren't stuck. The wait in the drive-thru was long, and didn't seem to be moving at all, so I popped inside to place my order. Not sure if that was faster though because, although there were quite a few employees working, things still seemed to be moving slow inside as well. Once my order was taken I received the fries almost immediately. I also asked for BBQ sauce, which this McD's gave me and didn't charge me. I feel like getting free sauces, when you don't order a menu item that calls for it, is such a hit and miss among the various McD's. I usually ask for it when I am waiting for my food order (they don't know what I ordered, so they usually just give it to me) or I ask when I get my food (they just don't want to take the time to ring it up and just give it to me). BTW, the fries were probably the freshest fries we have had from McD's in years. In all honesty, I haven't been to a McD's I could give anything more than a 3 star rating. Cousin and I only ordered 3 things (40pcs chicken nuggets and 2 double cheeseburgers)....guy taking our order definitely wasn't even payin attention most of the time because I had to repeat my order more than 4 times and I didnt even speak quickly!! I have eaten at this McDonald's a number of times. I do not recall ever getting an order that was not cooked the same as any other in their chain. So, food is not an issue. What is an issue is customer service, cleanliness of the facility and no drink dispenser in the eating area. This is a very small facility with probably no more than 12-14 tables. It can be very crowded at peak meal times. In my opinion, the most severe problem is the staff behind the counter. My guess, the core issue is a lack of proper training rather than the fault of all the employees. If instructed properly, managed closely and a capable shift manager on site at all times, there would be a substantial improvement in service. Since the seating is so limited, I see a high percentage of customers ordering take out from the counter plus a busy drive through window. However, just like today, I came in to the counter and 8 people were ahead of me at 12:45PM on a Saturday. There was only one person working the counter (a continuing problem) who when after taking an order, then has to leave the counter to complete it on a tray they place on the counter. This appears very time consuming and certainly is frustrating to those in line. The attention of the staff seemed much more centered on the drive through window. At some point, a second person came to take orders but then other person seemed to disappear. All I know, it is not a fun experience to walk in and see a line knowing how slow it can be get your food. I always think about someone waiting for a take out order and is in a hurry. While I have noticed an improvement in keeping the floor clean, there is no regular timing in cleaning tables. Most of the time I have to take napkins to my table so I can wipe off the crumbs or liquids. The rest rooms are small a heavily used. Like the tables, they need more frequent attention. I do not recall being treated rudely by any of the employees but I will say that quite a few do not seem to really be focused on their job responsibilities which comes off like they do not care about the customer. It is like that great convenience store clerk quote, "This would be great place to work if it weren't for the customers." Lastly, it is a pain to have to walk up to the counter and wait to get a refill when the place is busy. It probably is not practical to locate in the ordering area due to lack of space but it still an issue. I don't know about other customers but if I have time and want McDonald's food, I go to an excellent one on W. Valley in Escondido where I can sit comfortably and watch TV. read more
