Okay. I get it. I know not to expect outstanding service or even good food from a fast food restaurant...but c'mon, have some common sense. I always come to this McDonald's since it is closest to home. The drive thru is usually busy unless its that midnight snack attack...then it can be hit or miss. I am considered to be a hard worker, but when it comes to food, I am lazy. So even if there is a line out the drive way, I will still go in the drive thru. One of the times I came here at about 9 pm on a Sunday night, so I didn't expect it to be busy. And it wasn't...except for one car in front of me. I swear, it took at least 10 minutes for the car to place their order, so I figured that their order was a big one. I placed my order and proceeded to the next window. But there was a hold up. The car in front of me was there...waiting for their order. This makes sense. What didn't make sense to me was that if their order was taking awhile to put together (which it was since I was able to put my car in park and I am writing this review as I wait for them to get their order ready), then why don't they ask the car to pull into the stalls on the side so that the other cars behind them aren't waiting forever to get their orders. Usually, the service can be hit or miss here. I've had bad experiences, like when I ordered an iced mocha and got a regular iced coffee with whipped cream...but I've had good experiences too. Once I only ordered a strawberry banana smoothie mid-day (meaning it is BU-SY), when I went to pay for the smoothie, the cashier ran to grab the smoothie from the next window to hand it to me with my change. This particular McDonald's is nothing special, just your typical average McDonald's, but I've been collecting the Lion King toys and needed #7. There are good and bad things to say about this McDonald's. The good is that they have updated the restaurant since I was last here which was a LONG time ago. The restaurant is a lot nicer ambiance wise and there is free Wi-Fi as well as a Bank of Hawaii ATM in-store. This location also is centrally located. It is near the Honolulu Museum of Art and Blasidell Center. If you are headed downtown for work, this makes for a good stopover to pick up a drink and/or breakfast in the morning. Perhaps the biggest plus is that this location is open 24 hours. The largest issue with this location is that it is busy. The drive thru and the parking (of which there isn't is a lot) can be a problem. There is also a sign which says to limit your time in the restaurant to 45 minutes. So this is not the place to go if you are looking for a work or study space. This McDonald's is perfectly okay. Though this is more of a spot meant for a quick bite or fast food takeout. read more

After a drive thru wait of 15 min. I waited for another 10 min by stall #1 before walking to the drive thru window and telling them stall #1 is taken and I'm standing by #1. They tell me it's coming right now. I wait another 5 min and go back to the window again they said it's coming now after she tells the back that I'm waiting. 5 min later my order comes. As everyone knows I've been going to McDonald's to get the summer special dip cone. What I found was this McDonald's staff is very friendly and customer service oriented. They also know how to make a dip cone the right way, generous portion of soft serve, only one dip into the chocolate , nicely coated and promptly served. Another thing that was so nice is the staff as well as the manager make their rounds for the dining room greeting customers and making you feel very appreciated. This location is poorly staffed, people have been waiting in their vehicles for over 20minutes. The line I am currently waiting in as of right now is moving slower than a slug racing molasses. She proceeded to greet us right after we ordered at the kiosk so she could get working on our order! I go to McDonalds at least once every two weeks. I wont go to the other fast food chains because McDonalds ( I believe) is the only one that collects money separate from handling your drinks and handing you your food (we are talking drive thru ). Last night after getting out late from a conference at the convention center I was in need of something cold and sweet so we decided to make a stop to McDonald's. Because it was late only the drive thru was open I ordered 2 cones for myself and proceeded to drive up to the window. When I got to the window some snot nosed kid Joshua handed me the cones and I laughed not at him but at the cones. It was the most anorexic looking cones. I thought the cones at the ward restaurant was bad this one had to be hands down the worst I have ever seen. I asked josh, what is this? I don't want these! He quickly dumped it in the trash and went to the register and took it off the bill. I said wait I want 2 cones I just don't want those, they weren't right at all. He stomps off and grabbed the instruction sheet and said to me, See it is supposed to have 3 swirls or what ever he said. Well Mr. Nose dont you know that we all, first and foremost eat with our eyes and things have to pass the eyeball test AND that damn cone didnt look anything like the pictures! I dont give a hoot about that 3 damn swirls because brother man from the 3rd floor, the pictures dont look even close! All the while the scared spineless manager was kinda hiding behind the counter just listening. I gave up and left. How dumb are you guys, you are now out of product with no money and now a scathing review. Way to go McDonald's. I have been reminded that we have had really bad experiences with the night crew late. Yesterday evening the traffic on the roads were horrendous because of the rainy weather so I decided to kill some time and run a few bank errands then pick up some take-out dinner before heading home. I didn't really feel like jumping out of the car because of the weather, so I thought that I would try pulling into a drive-thru. I had my dog with me in the truck, and I know how she loves her french fries so I pulled into this McDonald's. I too (like previous bloggers) ended up waiting quite a long time with just a handful of cars in front of me. I would have jumped out of line also, but figured that I might as well stick it out and let the traffic die down even more before heading out. I got my usual filet-o-fish meal with a sprite and headed off. The french fries seemed a little undercooked, but otherwise everything was piping hot, put together presentably and seasoned perfectly. I come here often for my fix...ice tea! I only love it when it's super fresh or fairly fresh. Everyone is always so friendly and even though the drive-through line gets long, they still manage to keep it moving. They are conveniently located and it's nice you can enter from Beretania St or the street behind it (don't know name yikes!). I think this is the busiest McDs so it does get crazy at times. This is one of the nicer McDonald's restaurants in the city. Located across the street from a nice Burger King, I feel like these two businesses have to stay on their toes to compete. There is plenty of parking right off Beretania. It's located near the Honolulu Museum of Arts and Kaiser Hospital. The dining room is bright with accents of Hawaiiana. The employees are courteous and efficient. Everything is clean also. It's a place where older people come to read and relax. I've only had ice cream at this location and it was consistently good. Aw...what happened to my McDonald's? This used to be a location that had a little bit of character. Korean cab drivers and residents from nearby old folks homes would come here and chat for hours. Add in children from the surrounding schools, budget-minded museum visitors, and laptop-wielding power coffee drinkers, and this place really did belong to the community. But now there's much less seating. No place for a large bunch of people to chat. Too bad. With the renovation, the restrooms are nicer. Things are a little more expensive.
