My experience at Starbucks drive-thru Kahala on May 5, 2026 around 11:30am was startling. I ordered, drove up to the window and a young lady, no greeting or smile opens the window, scans my phone and hands over my drink with a flat expression. We asked if she's sure it's an oat milk latte because there wasn't a label on it. She stared at us and just nodded. She had an expression as if she was bothered by the question. After she nodded she turned her back and continued her conversation with a young man inside. Since I'm allergic to dairy, I instead went to the outside window to ask how I can be sure it's oat milk in my drink since there wasn't any label. The young man at the window was the complete opposite of the young lady at the drive thru. He was courteous and made me a new drink to assure me and he smiled, spoke politely and understandingly. I can see that the young lady does not have customer service skills at all. read more

Kahala exterior is horrible!! Today (Kona storm morning), I made an online order that said pick up was 7:57 a.m. I got to the drive through at 7:58 a.m. and there were three cars in front of me. There were no customers waiting at the walk-in window. I told the female barista that I had an order and she told me, "we are working on your order but next give us time and wait in the parking lot before coming into the drive through." so the app says my order is ready, but you tell me it's not? There were three cars before me in the drive through and six Starbucks employees. Perhaps more working, less dragging ass and less daydreaming would keep you all on track? As a former barista, my drink shouldn't take more than a minute to make, and that's being quite generous! Hmm... so don't tell me to wait in the parking lot so you can take your silly ass time, waste my precious time, get good pay (for a job that doesn't require much education), and get good benefits while other people are looking for jobs. read more

Pastry in Honolulu, Hawaii... My Starbucks app reminded me that I would get bonus Stars today (4-19-24) if I ordered a Danish. Well, I hadn't eaten much that morning, so I decided that I could get a snack before lunch! This location of Starbucks is a small, stand-alone building outside of Kahala Mall, near Macy's. It is best known for its drive-through, but I walked-up since I parked in the covered area by See's Candy. Standing at the window for a few minutes, I saw that the staff were busy. When they did come to the window, they were friendly and cheerful. I ordered a cheese Danish and didn't get a photo because I guess I was truly hungry. They had warmed it up so that the edges had a slight crisp and a bit of the melted cheese in the middle stuck to the paper bag. Shucks. That's ok... I haven't used the drive thru in a few years and this updated review is my experience with the walk-up window only. The walk-up window rarely has a line since most people do a mobile order. Depending on how busy the drive thru side is, my drink or food can take between 5 -10 minutes. I prefer doing a mobile order because I don't have to wait. If I'm shopping inside Kahala Mall on the Macy's side, I'll put in my order as I wait in line to pay for my merchandise in the store. By the time I walk over to the walk-up window, I give my name and the staff hands me my order. It's fast and easy! read more

Iv been going to this Starbucks for over 10 years. They used to have all Asians running it really well, I would grab free waters every day. They employees at the time and the manager would act like they got paid based on however much money was spent by the customer. So I was a lower class customer and was treated as such. This current staff takes on way more orders and is way more pono with a much wider range of people and they seem to treat people of all walks of life as equil. Many may mention their issues of long lines and wait time and well I absolutely agree but it is what it is. I have several much much closer to me that don't have that issue probably because they don't have drive thru and/or curbside. Worked in the industry it's been insane to juggle several iPads, phone and in person orders that expects to get it all in a timely manner. I've never used drive thru and curbside ever until I broke my ankle which makes it just about impossible so this was my only option so I made the drive totally out of my way just for my happiness in a cup. Yes the line was insane but it moved decently fast and had excellent service and I truly appreciate this option to make my limited mobility situation much easier. No one in my area does curbside which I wished they did so this was my closest option, thank you!! read more

Well the Kahala Starbucks drive thru just lost 1/2 star for me. This morning my daily routine is to get my coffee at the Starbucks Kahala drive thru got there about 7:30am and I knew it long line line before . Look at my pics the line started from the entrance of Macy's Kahala and zig zag thru the parking lot. It's going to be like this back in March and April . I was sitting in line about 10mins and it hardly moved I got out of there . I headed down the street to good oh McDonald's no line at all yippee . I'm sure it's going to be busy like last time shut down because all Starbucks from Hawaii Kai - Waipio probably will be coming to Kahala Drive Thru. The nearest Starbucks drive thru is at Waipio near Costco! Even the mobile pick up line was busy . Well I'll see how this plays out because I don't want to wait over 30min in line for a cup of Joe . They got my order COMPLETELY WRONG! I ordered a venti iced shaken espresso with extra 3/4 2% milk and 3 pumps classic syrup. This is my daily drink so I know what it taste like. (See the pics for proof ) It just so happened, I was passing by kahala mall and thought it'd be cool to try a drive thru. I went about my order and at first the lady couldn't really hear me. The second time, I said my order HOPED she got it right. When I got my drink, I noticed AFTER I drove off and took a sip that it was watered down. I saw that they gave me an iced shaken espresso LIGHT ICE. I also noticed that they FORGOT to add classic syrup. I could NOT drink the coffee. It was so disgusting. To add to this, I don't even like light ice on my drink but be warned that if you order LIGHT ice and not want to pay the extra cost for more coffee that they will water down your drink. read more

Went through Kahala drive thru as I do every morning and this time my son noticed never have cream cheese inside his bag... we parked I sent him to the window with his package to teach him how to go up and talk people... I saw the guy lean forward grab the bag to look at the tag and turned my son away... When I went up I said why'd you turn my son away? his response was oh its 1.25 and policy... I said we order it this way every-time and they always put cream cheese with our bagel (I have receipts to prove it & never ever had a problem with this)... So I said could you please let it go this time for him he's just a kid? and continued to say no and its policy...so I paid the $1.25 for it and as I walked away he told the lady oh sorry she didn't wanna pay for her cream cheese So I turned around and said you no turn away kids like that. He had NO business telling the people behind me what just happened... He was sassy & very rude. I'm not asking for freebies but I just asked whats different from the other times I ordered it this way. He said the workers are not suppose to do that. Even their coworkers not on the same page. The staff here is incredible. Seriously. My brother and I work nearby and visit, for the most part, daily. No matter who's working the window, the customer service we receive is without a doubt impeccable. Lines are long in the morning so if you don't like to wait, it is your responsibility to beat the crowd. Don't come at 09:00 and demand your drinks ten minutes after ordering. Treat the staff kindly or get a Keurig and keep it and your nasty little attitude at home. I'm regrettably forgetting his name, but the manager is a standup guy. I hate to leave another review but this has been a continuous problem. I rarely order venti drinks but today I decided to and it was 1.5-2 inches empty at the top. If I'm paying extra for a larger size, it should be fuller. I worked with Starbucks in the past and can assure I was never trained to leave 2 inches empty. Amazing staff! My order is always completed in a timely matter even when they're busy and the staff do this while maintaining top tier customer service. As a customer I'm appreciative of how the workers at this Starbucks provide more then just a service, they provide an experience through their friendly conversation and care. At most establishments I find managers cold but this Starbucks has caused me to have a change of heart. I don't know his name but he's a male and whenever he's assisting me the manager is always so helpful and kind. The more I come to this Starbucks location, the more it tends to disappoint me. The last two days I got a drink from this Starbucks, I felt completely disappointed. Yesterday, I ordered a grande iced green tea latte (about $5). Upon receiving my drink through the mobile pickup window, it was more than HALF foam! After one tiny sip of this drink and letting it sit for a few minutes, the drink was now more than half empty and I hadn't even had more than an ounce of tea yet. Not to mention I had literally, AND I MEAN LITERALLY one ice cube in the cup. Today, I decided to try again. This time I ordered a venti. Same order, same mobile pickup shenans. Not as disappointing as yesterday, but still not close to remotely acceptable. Today I at least had ice in my drink, but it still looked like someone had already taken a good two sips out of it. WTF Starbucks? If I'm going to be paying $5-7 dollars on a drink, I at least expect the cup to be full. ASIDE from the massive drink disappointment, the mobile pickup window is still half functioning to me. When I walk up and nobody is at the window for up to 3-4 minutes yet I can see my drink sitting right there with my name on it, I'm ridiculously tempted to just stick my hand in there and grab it myself. The wait time for the mobile pickup window is probably just as bad as the drive thru. This Starbucks as already been riding on that thin line and as much as I wish there was another Starbucks closer by, there isn't. This is my favorite drive thru Starbucks. Especially because it's right next to my son's school so it's super convenient for me. The line gets super long but it moves fairly quickly. Based on some reviews they say that their orders always gets messed up. But mine never have. I always get my order right and people there are super friendly. Especially Aida. She is such a joy. She's always so cheerful and happy. She's a great person to have working the window in the Mornings because not all people are morning people but after talking with Aida, it's hard to leave Starbucks without smiling. She's great! The girl who took my order seemed to be writing down wrong names so that I can't retrieve my drink. I waited and waited for my beverage. I saw people before me who ordered similar beverage get theirs and leave. I just saw 20+ unclaimed beverages been piling up on the pickup side of the counter. I wonder how many names she getting wrong on those orders. Maybe paying with credit card will help with your correct name. I thought thìs place would be quicker than the drive thru but I was totally wrong. I like this Starbucks location. We were actually sitting at one of the tables inside Kahala Mall, in between Aloha Salad and GRYLT, and I walked across the mall to this drive through/walk up Starbucks rather risk the sketchy service from the one that was fifty feet away from us. I used the app to place our order and by the time I walked over Yumi was just finishing. I was greeted politely when I walked up to the window. My drinks were just about ready. My mom doesn't have yelp, but I was with her on this day and thought I would share our experience. We stopped at the 4211 Waialae Ave drive-thru and waited with 6 cars before us, which that was fine, due to it being the only drive thru Starbucks. My mom then ordered a Hot Grande Caramel Macchiato stirred with an ad shot and was told that We would get the total when We reached the window. When We reached the window the girl scanned my moms phone for payment and gave us a Venti Drink which My mom said was not hers. She turned to give her a sandwich which She also did not order. We then had to park and go up to the walkup window to correct this. This is the 4th time that I've had problems with this location. My mom knocked at the window and finally someone opened it up and she told them my drink was wrong and what her real order was. He made the drink and thought that was it but She told him That she was still charged $12.77 for a $6.34 drink. The man barista did not say anything, no I'm sorry nothing. He took a while to do the credit and asked if she wanted her receipt.. My mom then told him that the girl at the window should always repeat the order before she collects payment. She was so unfriendly and the total time We took to correct this about 5 cars went through. I've ordered in the past and had to turn around on the freeway to get my ordered corrected also. So disappointed in this location. I've been a starbucks customer for a while and frequently order almost every week day. The Starbucks Kahala drive through location has always come in clutch for my wife and our family whenever we need a late Starbucks run or need a quick pick-me-up before work. I've been here dozens of times and my overall average experience has been nothing less than 5 stars for a Starbucks drive through. The friendly staff, fast service, and the great accessibility of drive through or walk up (with long hours of operation) are the biggest pros of this location. Lately, I've been ordering a special drink for my wife that I have to call about almost every time, and Baylee has been extremely helpful and super clutch in helping prepare it just how I need. I am super grateful Baylee! Major shout out!!! Although not every order over the years has been perfect, the staff have always happily and immediately remade my orders when they were wrong. Although the drive through line can get super long (ESPECIALLY at peak hours), planning ahead and ordering 10-15 minutes ahead of time to pick up at the walk up window has always solved that dilemma for me. I understand the struggle by other reviewers about the painfully long lines and the rare occurrence of lack of staff spunk at the window, but come on. Please just try and imagine working those ridiculous long lines all day long with everyone trying to rush and scramble, with no chance of sit-down and relaxed coffee shop vibes that baristas must crave for. Anyone with a heart should find the strength to show a little patience, practice a little grace, and stop bashing. Finally!! A Starbucks drive thru in Honolulu! When we saw signs announcing that they were building a Starbucks in the Kahala mall parking lot, my friends and I were confused. There is already a really rather large and popular Starbucks in the little mall. Nope, this drive thy location was going to open in addition to the in-mall location. Makes sense; the drive thru location is literally just a window. I'm a little hesitant to LOVE it. It does take away valuable Kahala mall parking, but I do love the convenience and that the service is so friendly. I was also disappointed that they don't sell Starbucks popcorn here. I'm currently a little addicted, but would have to go inside the mall to get my Starbucks popcorn fix. Obviously I'll be back, Kahala mall is super convenient for me and I hate dealing with parking in the mall when I just want to go to Starbucks. If you're ordering ahead, go to the interior location. The exterior won't just put the drinks out despite people complaining about that specifically every time I've been. So you get there and wait in line to get a drink that should've been outside the window for you allowing you to grab and go. They're not keeping them in the fridge or heated area, just on the counter. They also take their sweet time even acknowledging customers at the walk up window. read more

I'm sorry to say, my five star rating of this Starbucks plummeted yesterday. I ordered a Chai Latte with Coconut Milk, no foam, no water. It tasted like the coconut milk was diluted. They replaced it. I took a sip and it tasted like cows milk. I was concerned being severely allergic. They assured me it was coconut milk. Before arriving at my appointment felt my allergic reaction, nausea. I missed my appointment and returned the chai on my way home. The person at the counter said he thought he saw them using coconut milk. No apologies for my discomfort and disrupted day. No refund offered. I was not well enough to dispute. I'll be picking up m chai at another Starbucks, it's not worth the health risk and disrespect from this location. To bad it's so convenient. read more

The whole goal of going to a Starbucks instead of a small mom-and-pop coffee shop is that it is fast, convenient, and consistent. Well this one is not. What is the point of mobile ordering if you're still going to have to stand in line to tell the barista that you were there for your order? This location has a little window for mobile order pick ups. Since the drive-through is usually rather slow, I decided to order ahead. 10 minutes later, I'm standing in line watching the Barista start to make my coffee and put it on the side. She then does two orders for other people, and then, starts to make my drink again. By the time I get to ask her for my drink, it is almost 20 minutes past when I ordered. My drink is melted, and they do not have the food that I ordered. It would've been OK if she had offered me a refund or freshly made drink or something but the only thing I got refunded for was the food that they did not have with a side order of attitude from some lady name Yum. Considering how busy they are during the daytime at this drive-thru location, I love how upbeat and happy these workers are when I stop by everytime to order right before midnight! The workers are super patient, genuinely friendly, and make satisfying drinks. I don't even care about the long wait during the day, hence, an update to a 5 star for this review. On many occasions, I'd crave their coffee drinks, whether it's to keep me up to do my schoolwork, or a small treat after work. I absolutely love the fact that they're open until midnight, since not a lot of coffee places would be open by that time. When I came around 11:30pm, there were no line of cars ordering, so I took my time deciding on what drinks to order. The workers would tell me to "take my time" and let them know when I'm ready to order... So nice :') keep in mind... They often run out of a few things by the end of the night, like the acai berry refreshers. I ended up ordering 2 drinks for myself since I couldn't decide - mocha frappuccino and passion tea lemonade with Thai walls (condensed milk). And let me tell you, they really give your money's worth by adding enough Thai walls to your liking! I ended up saving my mocha frappuccino for the next day (since I was going to work until 3am that next day) by putting it in my freezer, and "defrosting" it an hour before I wanted to drink it. The mocha frappe AND the whipped cream were still intact, as if it was just made to order. I was completely amazed. While pulling up to the window to pay and retrieve my drinks, the workers were having a lot of fun being pumped up and dancing to Katy Perry's "Firework" while making the drinks.
