Visited this McD location on Sunday 5/21/23 at 1015 this morning before the breakfast menu ended at 1030. Was the second person in line with no cashier in sight. After the elderly couple in front of me placed their order, the cashier just disappeared. Unbeknownst to me, she was trying to be a super worker by handling other food orders already placed. Mind you, other people had lined up behind me. When I was able to place and complete my order, I just stood to the side just chilling and waited patiently for my food. During my lengthy wait, two other customers approached the cashier and mentioned that they hadn't gotten their order, noticing that other people who ordered their food after them had already received their food. Finally about twenty minutes later, I finally got my food. When I arrived home, I noticed that there were no condiments and no utensils with my order. In fact, missing from my order was my butter and maple syrup for my hotcakes. I had to return to this McDonald's location at 1455 S Beretania St to voice my complaint. What a waste of time. When I got there, the same cashier went back into the kitchen area, with my eye's view of her. What would've taken seconds to just get my butter and syrup, she instead went and retrieved someone else's order. I had to step into the kitchen area and yell "Hey, all I want is my butter and syrup. Who orders hotcakes to later find out your order has no butter or syrup? I'm still waiting!!!" After voicing my concern, another worker had to get my butter and syrup. All I can say is this: this McDonalds has to train their employees to be more attentive. The respective cashier should just remain at her station and try not to multitask. Poor service all around. Waited in the car for my wife who went in to get a blue berry muffin, a apple fritter and a frozen drink. It took almost 15 minutes. She said it took a while to be waited on. Took awhile for them to give her the pastries. The pastries are right next to the cashier. When the finally got to the frozen drink they told her that the flavor she wanted was not available. Service here in the morning is the WORST. I haven't been to this McDonalds in a long time. The driver-thru line was long. So I thought the line in the restaurant was shorter and it was. I ordered on one of those automated machines. I was the first on their "In progress" list and there were at least 6-8 people's orders behind mines. After 10 mins there were 3 including myself. Which I was still the first of that line. The cashier lady asked what number I was and I told her. My bag was sitting on that table. Waiting for someone to take it over to the other table to be served to me. My food was cold by the time I got it. I got no apologies for the wait. I work in retail customer service, and while I don't believe the customer is always right, it's important to provide the best service within reason. This location has a small team for such a prime area, and that's one of its major issues. On three separate occasions, I ordered a simple iced coffee and waited nearly 30 minutes each time. This delay isn't entirely the fault of the front-line staff or even management--it's a staffing issue that falls on ownership. You can't reduce staffing, rely on automated tellers, and not expect efficiency to be impacted. Shift supervisors, while doing their best, are often caught up doing tasks that should be handled by front-line staff, largely because the store is understaffed. This means they can't focus on the overall operations, which leads to further delays. While technology has made it easier for customers to place orders, the lack of adequate staffing to support these orders is the real problem. McDonald's needs to do better in this regard. read more

I stop here once or twice per week for breakfast from the drive thru. It is very disappointing when time, after time, after time, they promote on their sign boards products which they are out of. Specifically, when they have run the Haupia pie promos, I only received one or two for the entirety of the promotion. Now they are doing the same with the Guava Creme pies. This week Friday they were even out of Diet Coke? How does that even happen? Also, quite some time back they offered the mini-cinnibun packs that were so good and gooey and warm. Now they only have a half stale cinnamon roll, which is a definite downgrade. The apple fritters are ok, but still no match for the cinnibuns. Others have mentioned the homeless issue, which is terrible across the island. I am certain that I am not the only person that STOPPED going to Jackin the Box because they all seemed to be overrun and management allowed it. Many locations have now closed. McDonalds is definitely heading in that direction. I have been a McD customer since the burgers were 10 cents, and love the consistency of their base products, but they need to pay attention to the rest of their product line and their overall customer experience. read more

Boy do I love McDonald's, but I try not to go too often as it's probably not the best choice health wise. ;) This is my go to location since it's the closest to my place. The drive thru is always busy, no matter what time of the day I go. It's so busy, the drive thru isn't necessarily fast. Knowing that this is usually the case, it doesn't phase me anymore. Mobile ordering is available, but I've never actually tried it. There's only a couple of stalls in the front that's reserved for mobile ordering, so not sure if I want to chance it knowing that this place gets busy. One day though maybe. Don't forget to use the mobile app as there are a bunch of discounts on here that's so worth it! Today I used a $3 off coupon if you spend $10 or more. So worth it! They just scan the barcode on your phone and you are good to go! The staff here are usually pretty pleasant and helpful. Only once have I had a weird incident where my quarter pounder with cheese was missing a bun. Just the bottom bun was missing. How odd! Called the McDonald's when I got home to the discovery of a missing bun and the manager said to come back for a free sandwich. No questions asked, which is good customer service. read more

We went after playing Racquetball and sure enough large fries was only a buck and I could get a large drink with free refills for a buck. Total dinner cost $2.09! Other deals have been a sausage and egg biscuit for a dollar or virtually any sandwich for a dollar. Using the app you can customize your order such as substituting an egg white for a regular egg or swiss cheese for American cheese or adding sauce for no additional charge. Simply order online using the app and arrive at your specified McDonald's and choose pick up by either entering the restaurant, drive-through or even the old fashioned car hop service where they actually bring your order to your car! This review is specifically based on my breakfast visit. Stopped by for breakfast the other day and I got my fave, spam, eggs and rice. The rice portion was quite generous compared to the 2 slices of spam. When we realized that they had saimin available my daughter and I shared one and it was so delicious and paired well together. Stopped by McDonald's for breakfast. Had an Egg McMuffin and iced coffee. Surprisingly their coffee is pretty delicious and very affordable! I don't eat much fast food, but I like this McDonald's partly because this is the location that I frequented as a child and brings back fond childhood memories. Service was fast and efficient. The McDonald's appeared clean, tables did not look dirty. No homeless people outside like the King Street location has. Convenient location! read more

I went to the Beretania McDonald's on 12/22 to take advantage of the spend $1 get a free McFlurry for their 12 days of Christmas promotion! There were only 2 cars in front of me in the drive-thru when I got there around 5:30pm. I had to wait awhile for my order to be taken, but he apologized for the wait. I give him major props because he was taking orders while also taking money in the drive-thru. The worker had my oreo McFlurry and large black coffee in a drink carrier at the last window, which made it super convenient for me driving home. You have schoolers who stop by here before or after classes, the island visitors who come here between hurried visits, trying to get from point A to point B and after seeing the familiar golden arches from their home town. You have the retired seniors who congregate in the morning or later in the evening, different groups almost like shift workers, always there like clockwork, several days a week. You have the transients, those without a permanent place to call home, who come for some cheap eats and disappear into the fabric of the neighborhood in the wink of an eye- sometimes. And finally you have the great middle ground, the part of our ohana that will come here for a quick bite, a quick pick up or a quick coffee meet up to catch up with a friend or relative, all done with change to spare. This McD location has seen it all. A few months ago a patron ran their car into the front window area by accident and luckily no one was hurt. From the fights to the emergencies, they have dealt with it all. So why 4 stars? Because for the most part the service at this McDs, over the years has been quite good and they have handled the rush with courtesy and without giving "lip service". The food at any McDs is suppose to be the same. Whether you eat their homogenized burger in Honolulu or Joplin Missouri, it's suppose to be the same, so the taste expectation is pretty standard no matter where you go. So if the food is what you expect, nothing more, nothing less, that's an automatic 3 stars. Really bad parking, a questionable location can have an effect but it's the service that will really move the star barometer. Here the service is pretty good, better than average and the times I've been there, quite attentive. If you go when the lines are really long, well, they do their best, quite admirably in my book. So if you are in the mood for a Big Mac, crispy fries or a new signature sandwich offering, this one is a pretty good choice most of the time if you are in the area. Note: the lobster roll promotion evidently was a success. This sandwich really didn't have much taste so I mixed it with the Mayo packet and a lemon wedge squeeze to make it a lobster salad roll.
