The food here is like every other McDonald's location. We walked in on a Sunday afternoon and ordered our food. It took about 10 mins to get our food, so that was nice. When they gave me our sons Happy Meal, they gave us some generic toddler toy so I asked if we could have one of the licensed character ones and the cashier told me they were all out.. of everything. Boo. It was the main reason we went there instead of all the of the other eateries in the area. Growing up in Kaneohe and attending Castle, this place was one the hangouts for me and my friends. One of the things that I came to love was this huge mural of local folklore and culture. After leaving Hawaii for several years and coming back, I found that they remodeled this location. I was very pleased that they kept the mural. Its what makes that location so special to me. The bathroom here is clean. read more

Plus they got the previous customer's order wrong & proceeded to argue with him (albeit he was being somewhat of an ass too), another customer before me also waited a long time to get their order. Goodness, I can't believe I'm reviewing McDonald's of all places.. After last night's experience I feel I should. Aside from the fact that they usually forget to give straws, dipping sauce, NAPKINS, etc.. We ordered our meal and I guess the car in front of us didn't know there was two windows so they drove to the food pickup. We ended up at the window to pay and the guy confirmed our order so we paid and drove forward only to realize he only took half our order (-____-) but it had been right on the screen. Come to find out the people in front of us ordered some of the same stuff we did so they charged us for that. So they were going to charge us the difference. We paid $7 something w/ a $10 bill. Our total was $13 something, so that's $6 extra, but they calculated $3 since we paid with $10. Thanks for saving us $3, but how can you mess up our order in the first place when you confirmed with us at the window and then not be able to add? We had to wait for so long and I got really irritated. They also forgot to give me croutons for my salad. :( After the renovation, it is a lot better having two drive thru areas and the dinning room is a LOT nicer. Got it after 24 minutes. People went into drive through and left well before we even called them. I would avoid app. You can't confirm they are making your order, or are even aware of it. I bought them all large glasses of water and left an extra $10 for the next customer. They just smiled at me and told me my price. I asked them if they wanted my order. I love McDonald's. In fact thats all I wanted for breakfast today when I woke up at 2am. But they only have breakfast platters until 4am. Which makes me incredibly sad right now. This McDonald's is located in Windward City Shopping. Located nearby 24 Hour Fitness and a gas station. Being open 24 hours a day is wonderful for using this McDonald's as a late night food spot and to utilize their toilet facilities. Good place to stop by if you're in the neighborhood. read more

So the reason I gave this particular McDonald's a two stars, is because of the fact when you select two stars, it says, "Meh. I've experienced better. That is very true when speaking about the this location. I like the old design better. They had a huge mural in it, (come to think of it, I've never been in the new one so I don't know if they put it back up) and I remember when I used to trip out about the weirdness of everything in it. I remember Arnold "The Govenator" Schwarzenegger being a part of it, some old guy flying, some other chinese guy with smoke coming out of his eyes and mouth. As a kid I was afraid yet mesmerized, and I really miss that painting. When I got older, before I'd go to church there was this one kid selling papers and it was always a guarantee that he was sleeping. Great way to not make money, but it gave me a good laugh seeing a young kid selling newspapers when he'd rather be sleeping in on the weekend. Enough complaining, I'm sure the old location was about to fall down, so they have to renovate. The food is the same I'm sure, just don't eat here 30 days consecutively or you'll die! Maybe. Drive thru line was so long we decided to park and order inside. BIG MISTAKE, HUGE!!! No one at the register to take orders. Stood there for 5 minutes and not a single employee gave us notice. Thinking maybe the registers were broken, we used the kiosk to order. IT TOOK 30 MINUTES FOR OUR ORDER TO BE READY. THIRTY FREAKING MINUTES!!!! And the entire time we (and many other customers) were waiting there, not a single worker acknowledged our existence or made any comment about the wait. Not a single, "sorry for the long wait," or "sorry, we are short staffed today." NOTHING. They just ignored everyone ordering or waiting. And to make matters even worse, our damn order was wrong. I frequent this McDonalds because it's close to my house and my workplace. McDonalds in general is not my first choice as far as food choices go, but it's convenient and cheap. Anyway this McDonalds is unique since it has a two-lane Drive-thru. I find this some what disturbing. What does it say about Kaneohe people when we have the only two lane McDonalds drive thru and one of the few Starbucks drive thrus? Not kidding when I say the line for the drive thru can get ridiculous especially in the morning. Sometimes I see people in front of me getting just a soda! Food wise I cant really critique since it's standard McDonalds fare. However I can say that someone here is putting way too much salt on the fries. Service here can be slow. This McDonalds has a 24 hour drive thru. It was recently renovated and it is one of the nicest McDonald's I've been to. The door into the restaurant is an automatic sliding door which I really like because you don't have to get your hands dirty. The inside is all new and very clean. Bathrooms were clean and had automatic appliances (toilets and sinks). Overall a nice McDonald's. read more

I'm a first generation McDonald's kid and growing up, would spend time regularly at McDonald's happily munching hamburgers. Now that I'm a parent, my kids grew up on McDonald's and for 3 of the four, actually worked at this McDonald's. I think as restaurants go, this is one of the nicer ones. If you haven't been here before, come and check out the large mural they have mounted. This was part of the orignal restaurant and when they renovated, the mural was carefully saved so it could be displayed in the newly renovated store. It shows many scenes near and dear to folks who live and grew up on the Windward side. I am always impressed by the consideration of the owners in preserving something like this. The food is Mcdonald's. Ditto for the drinks. Ditto for the ice cream. What is noteworthy are the employees who work there. It always seems for the most part, everyone tries to make sure the customer is happy. Many times I've found there is no need to yell or create a scene if you're unhappy with how your ordered turned out or were shortchanged. The managers will politely and quickly try to remedy the situation. As mentioned before, 3 of my 4 kids worked at this very restaurant and I know from their accounts, contrary to popular belief, there are customers that are rude, get their order screwed up then blame the employee or try to get free food unjustly. Although all Mcdonalds serve most of the same food, not all McDonalds have the same types of employees. So next time you visit, be polite, smile and be patient. You may be pleasantly surprised by the results. read more

What I find most interesting about this McDonald's is the freaky, but fascinating mural on the wall. My kids had a great time today looking for all kinds of things in it. I had a real hard time explaining the part where the woman is throwing out the baby with the bath water. I'm not sure I succeeded in explaining the phrase to my children's satisfaction. We had planned to go to another restaurant, but we didn't think we'd have time before my daughter had to go to the Veteran's cemetery for her girl scout Memorial Day gig. This is a pretty big store and nicely renovated. The man serving us today looked to be in his mid to late 70's, and he was very friendly. We all talked about how many people from that generation really understand the meaning of customer service. I am trying to lose about 10 pounds and I blew it again today. Okay, I got a salad with grilled chicken on it. But I know what really canceled out my good intentions...the creamy salad dressing. Folks, that's a bit like buying a zero calorie diet soda to go with your Oreo cookies and ice cream! I really wish I didn't love fattening food so much! A few weeks ago I came here when they had "McDoubles" on sale for about $1 each, and I bought a bunch for my son's basketball team and they loved them. How easy is that?! I used to frequent McDonald's Kaneohe a lot. Due to Slow service and orders tend to be wrong a lot. Also fries don't come filled. They are usually 3/4 to 1/2 full. I tend to find myself going to other places in the area. Tonight I went to McDonalds and they only had milk, apple juice, shakes (until 1am), and coffee. There were a few more options for drinks but no fountain drinks. They also had printed signs saying what they offered for drinks. I was going to go with a shake but there was an extra charge for it. I ended up going with water. They still charged me an extra $0.26. In my opinion if you can't offer the regular fountain drinks you shouldn't charge your customers extra. read more

Service after 10pm hasn't been good workers can hardly understand English when your telling them your order then we you say no I ordered completely different how do u get ketchup and onions mixed up and we get the wrong order and many of us are going back to have it fixed I come here almost every other nite workers are making themselves smoothies or food without taking breaks one taking my order was drinking a smoothie getting our order mixed up then rus our ripped up receipt and when I say something she says oh well I can tape it looks like I'll be going to the other McDonald's in temple valley better and faster it took many of us about 40 minutes to get our food and there were only four customers who ordered,,, very unhappy with cold food after waiting so long and I only live a minute away.. It's a typical McDonalds with the typical food and typical service. My issue is that their ice cream machine is frequently out of service but you don't realize that until you're at the drive thru speaker to place your order. They need to place a sign somewhere visible for people to see BEFORE we get into the drive thru line, because once you're in that drive thru line, you can't get out. And the drive thru line is pretty slow moving so you're trapped. read more
