WHERE ARE YOUR MASKS??? As I've previously stated, this place has gone downhill except for a precious few workers. Now, THEY ARE NOT CONSISTENTLY WEARING MASKS while requiring customers to wear them!!! Here are my observations in the last two weeks: (I'm sorry that I don't know everyone's name, so I'm confined to describing them using racial descriptions. However, I'd also like to point out that NONE OF THEM wear name tags!) 1. Younger local woman (Filipino-looking and a little chubby): wearing her black mask on her chin; she used to give four syrups and countless tubs of butter when she was first hired (see my review of 9/11/18). Nose and mouth exposed! 2. Older local woman (Native-Hawaiian looking) and maybe new: wearing her red and black mask hanging off of one ear. Nose and mouth exposed! 3. Today, White woman, maybe new, NOT WEARING ANY MASK! I almost asked for my money back and went home, but I have TOO MANY THINGS to do this morning; doing so would mean I'd go hungry. The only workers who consistently wear their black masks between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. are a young local woman (Asian or Asian hapa-looking and thin with perfect posture) and a longtime (at least 10 years) male worker whose name, I think, is Sean or Shawn. Btw, both of these workers are also quite efficient in remembering orders and knowing how to give change. If it weren't for these two positive workers, I'd not have bothered with this review. I would've just called the State of Hawaii's Department of Health. But I wouldn't want to cost these two their jobs while DOH closes down this McDonald's and investigates. My favorite McDonald's. The morning crew very efficient and friendly. The food quality was always good until today. I normally order the local platter deluxe with no complaints. It's been over a month since I last ordered it and was shocked to see the thinnest pieces of spam and Portuguese sausage. I've never seen slices this thin at any restaurant. I know restaurants have been raising prices and cutting back but I never expected McDonald's to go this low. To top it off, the Portuguese sausage was so dry and cured like pepperoni or salami. The only reason I order breakfast from McDonald's is for the sausage. I know it was uniquely created for them but that's all out the door if it's dry like salami. read more

Dude. I thought hey, I'll get the kids a McD's breakfast today on the way to school. They haven't had one before so it will be a treat! So I mobile order. I know my order must have gone thru because Spotify starts playing McD ads so someone is tracking my order. When I get to the drive thru I give my code....and the lady says, "got it, drive straight to the second window" so I started that way. Then, this guy stops me at the first window saying, "are you the mobile order?" Yes. "We can't find your order." Start the 5 min discussion before the manager comes over. They just can't get my order straight. So I give her my phone that has the order on it. ok, they got it. please pull over, we will get you your order. 7min later, they came to the car and it was wrong. we took what we could and drove in. now, very late for school. Two bad experiences at this location. I came for breakfast and ordered a #3 at 4am before work. The man at the register had a strong accent and charged me for a dinner #3 and the manager had to fix it- he didn't apologize or acknowledge his mistake- he seemed more upset that I corrected his error. I came back today around 8am and ordered another #3 and he came out and saw that it was me. Strangely l, I got a 'sprunch' instead of the drink I ordered. He talked to the other cashier and openly laughed and looked me in the eye smirking... Not sure what he did to that drink but I wasn't drinking it. Called the manager and told her. This location normally isn't unprofessional but I can definitely see a change happening. While I prefer McDonalds, Jack in the Box and Burger King are are decent alternatives. Oh myyy....lots of one and two star reviews. I don't get it as that has never been my experience at this McDonald's. I'm not saying they are a world-class McDonald's flagship store, but they are not bad at all IMHO. Venue: This particular store was built with an amazing mural of Kaneohe Town. Sort of folk artsy, it was something K-Town residents could appreciate. After two separate major remodels, the mural is gone. The store is now ultra modernized with self-serve kiosk ordering, online ordering, as well as a traditional walk-up ordering and drive through. Service: Staff now work putting orders together and your order number shows up on a digital screen as well as being called out. I guess the old fashioned face to face ordering and food gathering system was not efficient. One staff member is assigned to cleaning and restocking. Others are food prep and delivery. They keep an eye on the reserved online ordering parking spots and then walk the bags of food out. The store is clean and orderly and the staff busy and business-like. All the McDonald's are like this now. And to be honest, once you learn the kiosk ordering...it's better! Food: I've noticed that the food size is shrinking. It is smaller than ever before. My wife said that the pancakes used to fill the whole plastic pancake container. They charge extra for extra syrup too. Now there is a half-inch space all the way around. Same with the fish sandwich. Smaller diameter for sure. The coffee is good though. Plastics: Everything in the store is in plastic, paper bag, wrap and, along with the plastic utensils, is placed in a hefty plastic bag. There is no token effort at recycling or saving the oceans etc. While I was impressed with the modernization and efficiency, this really shocked me. I guess no one really cares. But that is a separate subject and the fact is our whole modern lifestyle is bad for the air, earth, and water. Vegetarian/Meat Free: I had plain pancakes and coffee. Coffee, drinks and french fries... there are no healthful options. I'm suspicious of the french fries. The pancakes are vegetarian, I guess, as is the ice cream cone/sundae/shakes. I really wish they would add a vegan burger as BK did. It's not 'Impossible' to do. While the environment is not a corporate concern and no vegan options available, this place is clean and reliable. I have never encountered a one or two-star experience here. I'm going with four stars to counteract some of the negativity. read more

You go through the drive thru because you hope that it's fast and convenient. BUT when it's neither fast nor convenient it basically defeats the purpose. So when you put in your order and they get it wrong and you see it wrong on the screen and then have to tell the worker that it's wrong and then you wait for the screen to update and then have to repeat your order several times and you know it's still wrong because the screen is still wrong (I wanted a sausage biscuit with egg and asked for them to add cheese to it, CHEESE GUNFUNIT, how hard is it to get CHEESE?!) but she is trying to just rush you at this point already so that when you pull up to the pay window and then they repeat your order and you have to repeat yourself again that you wanted CHEESE but they look at you like your wrong and inconveniencing them (at this point I thought I was being pranked and in a RAP REIPLINGER skit or something). Putting the "ha" in "Aloha"! This is potentially the worst McDonald's I have visited. The employees here have zero sense of urgency. The cashier walked away while I was standing in line. This McDonald's located in the Windward City Shopping Center. The drive through lines is most times always long and always busy. It doesn't matter what time of day it is! And sometimes the inside, the service is just as bad. It's like they lack staff help. Especially during peak time. You can't go wrong with McDonald's food, but this location most times the fries can be salty, it's just the service here is horrible. read more

McDonald's is such a common, everyday well-known place. .. Why? Because it has something for everyone maybe? Here, on the Windward side of Oahu, it's the same in many ways. .. in the morning, the kupuna socialize, read the paper, and enjoy the free coffee refills. I watched in the drive through while they handed my order to the car in front of me, the car had my order in their car for about 3 minutes then handed it all back to the cashier. When I drove up they tried to hand me the same ice cream and sandwich that was sitting in the car in front of me. I refused. I walked in and explained what happened to the manager who proceeded to make me a new order but give me an attitude and not apologize at all. When I questioned her if it was their process to give out the same food that was in another car she told me yes it was only in their car for a few minutes! Then...she caught herself and said no and apologized. Sorry lady my granddaughter's not eating food a stranger probably put their grimy hands on! Yesterday, I had ordered the McChicken Sandwich Bundle, which includes a small fries. When I got home, all that was in the bag was a small fries, no sandwich. I called and informed the worker that the McChicken sandwich was missing and was told that I could go in the next day to pick it up because I didn't plan on driving back there. When did McDonald's change? McDonald's was always a great place to find awesome customer service and great work ethic... not anymore. Every visit in the last few months there was always something disappointing. If your order was not correct, you could expect dirty tables, trash on the floor, employees leaning up against the wall while another is running back and forth, employees not speaking English and finishing conversation before tending to a line at the register and of course a manager using her cell phone while drive through orders are backed up. So this happened in about a month ago, I had a young this white boy who got upset with me about wanting to correct my order that they messed up. The supervisor had to hold him back and then continue to tell me that I was the problem and she was going to call the cops, I encouraged her threaten to call the cops just so they can see how this boy was acting, yelling screaming obscenities hitting the drive-through window, and had to nerve to tell me that he works 80 hours a week I just got off of 80 hour week working construction you pushing buttons. This review is for the McDonald's in the Kaneohe Shopping Center - near the Kentucky fried chicken. We stopped in for an ice cream sundae after eating at the nearby Genki Sushi. After woofing down their typical plates of tamago and inari, my six year old twins were ready for dessert. Since the desserts at McDonald's are substantially less expensive (especially since my daughters aren't particular about their desserts - as long as it's sugary and sweet), we decided to head over to the McDonald's across the way to save a few bucks. McDonald's came though as we got an assortment of sundae flavors for the family to share - hot fudge, strawberry and caramel (thank you McDonald's, for bringing this flavor back by the way - it's may favorite). This is the closest McD's to our house, so we go there often for one specific item. This particular restaurant is... okay. We've found the service to be average, and the food is typical McDonald's. If you're thinking of coming here, I'm assuming that's what you're looking for, so you're not likely to be disappointed by the food quality. We love to get the chocolate-dipped ice cream cones when they have them (summer only), but recently had the bad experience of calling after a power outage and their telling us that they had dipped cones, but arriving 15 minutes later to find that the power outage had reset all of the ice cream machines and they wouldn't actually have ice cream for 3-4 hours. Would have been nice to tell us that when we asked about ice cream on the phone... When they do have the cones, they're not as big as the ones in Kailua (Enchanted Lakes), one town over, but they're better than the ones at the Kamehameha shopping center McD's. Yes, we do keep track of these things. :-) One interesting factoid for those of you not from Hawaii: they have special items you won't find on the US mainland. Think FRIED apple pies, haupia (coconut creme) pies, and saimin. If you're visiting, consider trying one of the Hawaii specific items. Expect prices (even on the specials) to be higher than on the continent. That's true at fast food spots all over Oahu. :-( read more

This seems to be one of the most inefficient McDonalds restaurants I've been to. I ordered a soda & a med fries & waited almost 30 min for it! Plus they got the previous customer's order wrong & proceeded to argue with him (albeit he was being somewhat of an ass too), another customer before me also waited a long time to get their order. The worst McD's ever. I grew up going to this location. It has become such a terrible restaurant. One late night, my hubs and I decided to stop for a quick meal bc we were in the ER all evening and there are few food establishments open 24 hours. We opted for the drive thru, which was the worst! The girl came on over the intercom to take my order. I got 2 for $5 filet o fish burgers and 2 for $5 mix and match (Big Mac and McNuggets. I asked for a large tropic twist slushie and a large drink ($1 any size). The girl taking the order replied with: "Rajah." What in the actual heck?? My hubs and I looked at each other like... Anyway, we finally got close to the paying window and that began the marathon wait behind another car. We sat for ages! When we finally pulled up she tells us they are only accepting cash bc the machines are down. We say ok and see her trying to calculate our bill. She takes FOREVER trying to figure it out! THEN she tells me I owe her $25. I was like...'No. I don't.' She then said, 'Yes...you do. You ordered a large slushie.' To which I replied: 'Since when dis your large slushie cost $11?' She looked at me, confused. Ughghh! After about another 5 minutes, which equates to a decade in drive thru time, we finally get our food. So nails, McDonald's. read more

What I can't stand the most at any store or restaurant is when a person BEHIND me is serviced first. I've been in line waiting like a total trooper then not recognized or acknowledged first is like a kick in the teeth, seriously. That is what transpired today at this McDonalds location. My daughter is diabetic and was in need of food and because the service here SUCKS or lacking common courtesy to take the FIRST person in line, she had to wait even longer?!!!! Major fail! We were in there meeting a friend, my wife went up and bought drinks and we sat for a lil bit talking. After a few minutes I decided that I wanted a lil some some cold and sweet so I went up to order a couple of sundaes. I just stood there waiting and waiting. Two managers looked at me but were far too busy talking to one another and the employees somehow didn't notice me. After a few minutes I said out loud, Wow service sucks guess I am not going to give them my money" and walked away. Before completely leaving the area I spun around and looked at one of the managers name tag and walked out. (Sadly now I don't remember the name...Young, skinny asian guy who doesn't give a damn) Thankfully I do not frequent this fine establishment nor do I frequent any McDonalds period. The service from the management and staff was despicable. My wife said they were like that when she ordered the drinks earlier too. I see that they are trained to believe that they are doing us a favor by helping us and I should be incredibly thankful that I have the privilege to give them my money. Moving to Kaneohe from Kailua, this became our regular McDonald's location now. It's like any other McDonald's. Service here is good. The morning staff is great. Afternoon staff could use a little coaching from the morning crew lol. The morning crew is always smiling and greet you as you walk up to counter. I like when my order is taken with a smile. The afternoon crew is hit or miss. Many little mistakes with orders. For example, missing toy from happy meal. Once we order two happy meals and got ONE napkin and FOUR straws. Really? Talk about not paying attention to detail. Since this location was demolished and rebuilt it is much nicer and cleaner. No play ground at this location. One thing that is unique about this location is the Hawaii Folk Sayings Mural. This mural has been in this location for as long as I can remember.
