The employees insist you use the kiosks to order. This is though the kiosks are configured to automatically select supersised orders. No consideration of the customer's need to remain within a certain budget. Also, I tend to pay in cash. Yes, I bank through a credit union, but some banks such as Red Dot charge for each transaction. I know this because one of my housemates went through Red Dot. Fortunately for him, he switched over to Key Bank. I am pointing out that debit card is Not the absolute method of payment. As I have stated in the past, many restaurants do not require the use of kiosks. And the software McDonald's uses for their kiosks is lousy and difficult to navigate through. The first window could not read my chip on my card. I went to second window and joked that instead of running my card that I should get this for free. I was smiling and laughing as I said it. She said, "no, you're not getting it for free." I waited for her to laugh like I was and I looked at her face and she looked angry. She grabbed my card and ran the payment. I came to McDonald's in search of a happy meal. Not their signature product, the "happy meal", but a happy meal that brings me delight and joy. I believe that is what many of us are searching for when we venture to the golden arches: a sense of childlike wonder, excitement, and giddiness. Unfortunately, McDonald's has grown up alongside the rest of us and lost its childhood as well. You can see it and feel it when you walk in, and you can definitely feel it when you look at the prices. Long gone are the days of colorful chairs, in-store GameCubes, and $1 any size soft drinks. Instead, the design takes cues from a mature cafe: muted colors, uniform seating arrangements, and a hushed atmosphere. The ordering process is very cold and efficient. You punch your order into a machine, take a number, and get seated. An employee will bring your order out to you and give you a curt thank you before returning to the kitchen, and that's the last human interaction you'll have inside this establishment. An introvert's dream. And in terms of ease and efficiency, a win for both the customer and the employees. But why does it leave me feeling so empty inside? The prices have "grown up" the most out of everything here. Don't go looking for the $1 items, you won't find any (except water, which notably costs $1 instead of being free). It is nearly mandatory to take advantage of the app to avoid spending $15+ on a meal. 20 pieces of chicken nuggets will cost your soul. The food itself was fine, and the speed of service was impressive, so no complaints there. In fact, we may be looking at the peak of quality and efficiency at McDonald's. But have we lost something along the way? In its effort to grow up, has McDonald's lost some of its innocence? Maybe I am searching for something that was never there. It's nice how they are open 24/7 but what they don't tell you is that they only take online orders after a certain point. So me and my boyfriend made one except they made us cancel it because it was turning into breakfast hour and they couldn't serve us what we ordered because it was "too close too changing menus" even though it was 20 minutes til the menu change... Honestly, it's just the fact that it took us an hour to get our food which should've only took us 5 minutes to get. They should have signs outside or something to tell people when specifically they are not able to order... or at least some type of warning to prevent this time. Very disappointing :( read more

Their drive through spill into the street blocking three lanes of traffic. I've owned a motorized electric bicycle that's a class 1, 2, & 3. After visiting this place many times over the last 2 years on my bike in good weather. They told me I can't ride my bike which goes 28+mph in the drive through because they can be liable. When asked if they can let mopeds and motorcycles in the drive through they said yeah. Then asked if it was motorized? They said well it's their policy technically, but they can't tell in the drive through. Really the DOT approved full face covering helmet didn't give it away? Yet they can block three lanes of traffic in the street and seem to have not a care in the world about it.
