McDonald's in South Burlington
Bruce K.

Clean and comfortable enough (hard seats!), I got my coffee here this morning and spent about an hour and a half starting my Sunday. The crew did a decent job of taking and filling orders, though in my short time here, two different people came in from the drive through with errors in their orders. My fu sandwich.

They still can't figure out sauces. I ordered McDouble and I ordered extra mustard so of course THIS time there was NO mustard. They don't have packets and act like it's going to be the death of them if they get you some mustard. Ridiculous. I wish we had options around here. I packed food but I need a microwave and it's for later.

We were looking for a quick spot to get breakfast on our way out of Burlington, I checked the map and this was easily accessible as we headed south on 7. We quickly placed our orders without waiting in any long lines. The employees at the counter were quite efficient and our food was out in no time. This McDonald's looks like it has had some updates recently and was quite clean. Food tasted as it should and came with the right amount of condiments. I only eat breakfast at McDonald's maybe once a month, but so many times I'm missing syrup or butter with the order. Not a bad fast food experience!

Thanks. You only gave me one large fry when I ordered two. I'm not mad. Just disappointed. Do better. ‍

The outside of this Mickey D's looks like a house.

Yep- it's McDonald's... and this one is nothing special. The only thing special about this McDonald's was that it was conveniently located along our travel route, so we didn't have to go off the beaten path to get our breeky on. As for atmosphere, on the outside, it looks kinda like a house. I don't know if I've ever seen one with this style of exterior before. On the inside, however, it's not one of the up-to-date locations--it's very institutional. Also, the bathrooms were probably clean, but b/c they were so out-of-date looking, they didn't look clean. Luckily, the staff at this location seemed friendly, so that was a plus.

Worst service ever! 20 min to get a breakfast sandwich. Never again!!!! I think automated ordering is slowing them down. Or they just suck

Food is not nutritious or filling. Fries are soggy and burgers are way to thin. McDonald's? More like McNotalds.

This was mainly due to the great service and delicious meals ordered by each of us in our family of three. Our table was never left waiting and the food was served hot. Our meal choices were varied, including apps such as steak tartar and cheddar ale soup for one and the meatloaf plate and the turkey burger for the others. Everything was made with original flavor additions such as homemade sauces, fresh breads, and unique use of herbs and spices. Lastly, I was told to mention that the hand cut fries were exceptional. Since we visit Burlington often, we look forward to returning to the Farmhouse to try other dishes on their menu or just ordering the same meals since they were so good. We all agreed that this restaurant has definately moved to the top of the list for our next trip to Vt.

The server told him that it wasn't hot chicken, it was cold chicken. So he was warned, but it was just kinda meh. Come for the burgers!

Ups and Downs. Ups:…read moreThe food is good, it's kinda trust and don't judge a book by its cover. But for starters the grilled cheese is like as thin as an average pointer finger which is like actually crazy. The sprite was a little sketchy, I mean it's kinda worse than what you could get at a gas station and a little more expensive. It was $4 and there's not even refills, I would bring my own water if I were you. The vibe is nice though, like a 60s diner that just felt welcoming and I couldnt tell if there was music or the vibe was making music be in my head. Downs: This might just be a me problem but every time I order chicken from there I barf, and when I don't order chicken I don't barf. The chicken is good, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't risk it for the biscuit. I really had to go to and there is only a men's bathroom with all the stalls and all, and an all gender bathroom with a single toilet. My friend and I go to the bathroom, when we got there we realized we had to wait. There are seats outside of the bathrooms and the like teenage girls are looking at us like we are nasty creatures. The teenagers were eating there and one of them scoffed really loudly before disrespectfully telling us that there is a line. I hate this, there is seats that people use to preserve bathroom spots, this ought to be fixed with like a special sign. Honestly, they were so disrespectful I'm too nervous to go back. But there needs to be a women's/girl's bathroom, seriously.

Deep City was a recommendation for brunch from a local. It is the sister restaurant to Foam Brewers (right next door). When we walked in there was a small wait but not bad. We headed over to the brewery to grab coffee and to check it out. It is definitely a cool spot. They have a huge selection of beer, a small wine program (who knew) and small bites. Unfortunately they did not have TVs or else we would've come back to watch the football game but we did purchase some beer before heading back over for brunch at Deep City. The menu here is a little more Mexican-forward think Huevos Rancheros, but there was still plenty of items that looked appealing. We split the banana bread with maple walnut cream cheese (to die for) to share as an app which was fresh and delicious. I also ordered a fruit cup which was also good. We then shared their Huevos Verdes which is similar to Huevos Rancheros except it came with a tomatillo salsa. It was good but very sloppy to eat. Overall it was a great experience, and service was phenomenal. A great brunch place while visiting Burlington VT.

Ambience: It's a genuine 1950s Worcester Lunch Car--complete with Formica counters, vinyl booths, and tile floors that feel like they haven't changed since before your grandparents were born. Charming if you like that "museum exhibit" vibe--but cozy it isn't. Seating is tight, and the wait can feel longer than vintage itself. Food: Yes, it's scratch-made breakfast and lunch--maple syrup is local, English muffins made in-house, eggs fresh from Vermont farms. Great effort. But then you find out the famous hot turkey sandwich and VT burger that earned Roadfood praise under the old owner are no longer on the menu. The new proprietors swapped nostalgia for a rewritten menu--and higher prices. Some folks rave about the blueberry jam and standout flavors, but others griped that biscuits and gravy were "downright gross." Contrasting reviews and extra-charge condiment notes further muddle expectations. Service: Staff tend to move with diner efficiency--fast, polite, and no fuss. That said, reviews note some inconsistency: stellar one day, meh the next. They're friendly, but don't expect a guided gastronomic tour--just order, eat, move on. Value: With plates clocking in near $19 for diner fare like chicken-fried steak and breakfast burrito bowls, this isn't exactly your classic greasy spoon find. Everything tastes well-executed, but you're paying for that curated "local ingredients" label--not bargain basement. Bottom line: If you're nostalgic for a parlor that looks like a train car and serve-your-mother's-recipe breakfast served up with giddy pride, Parkway Diner might still charm. Just be ready to pay for ingredient provenance and ditch your hopes for old favorites like the hot turkey sandwich or VT burger. Solid for breakfast or lunch, but don't expect miracles--even if they serve bottomless coffee.
