My Toyota Highlander, out of necessity, is parked in an area where workmen have damaged the driver side of the vehicle over the years by scratching and denting it when moving tools and heavy equipment. The most damage, however, occurred recently in a public parking lot when a severe windstorm caused the passenger door of the vehicle next to mine to slam into my drivers door causing a large dent and scratches. Since I had previous scratches and dents that I wanted repaired, I decided to pay for all damage to the left side of my Highlander myself. I took my car to McDowells Specialty Repair and they examined the area thoroughly. They quoted a repair price which was far less than I expected and said it would take two full days to repair. I dropped off the car at 8:00 am and they called me at 2:30 pm and said it was repaired and ready for pickup. When I picked up the car it looked like a new vehicle on the Toyota show room floor. Brandon said "I'm so sorry and I want to make this right for you, what can we do?" Incredible customer service and work. I arrived with my two young children, one on my hip, completely expecting to deal with the hassle of dropping off my couch cushion and pick it up days later. A fender bender in the parking lot brought me back to McDowell's, this time in my 2021 Ram Rebel pickup. Since the paint was not damaged (thanks to the fender flare molding) I had the two small dents removed with their paintless dent repair tools. The truck is fully restored now and it looks like nothing ever happened. Their prices are reasonable and saved me about 25-40% over a traditional body shop repair, which required breaking the factory paint and recoating. This is undesirable in a vehicle which I intend to keep for many years. This shop does high quality work and their prices are reasonable. I highly recommend them. read more

WOW!! My experience with McDowells was just that...WOW! I did not know what to expect having my driver side seat reupholstered. The ride itself is a 2003 Toyota Tundra and it still runs like a champ. Over the years getting in/out has worn the seat. The technicians (Martin, Zachary) who completed the job are masters of their craft. I expected a much improved seat and look but not this good! If my ride was newer, I would have had the entire seat reupholstered. I am beyond happy with the outcome. Future vehicle restoration work will be going to McDowells, and I will be making my friends and family aware of their excellent services and finished products. Imagine for a moment that you've finally gotten that brand new car you have been dreaming about for years. You have had it for a little more than a week, and then you back it into a trash can at your mom's house. The car has a backup camera and beeps at you when you get close to stuff, but somehow you still manage to collide with a trash can. Your mom's trash can puts a dent in your car and it doesn't even have 1,000 miles on it yet. Speaking of 1,000, you realize that your collision deductible is that number of dollars. After you've finished throwing up, you start looking for options and come across McDowells. They've got good reviews, and pics of customer cars sure look like they've gotten their dents erased. They seem to have harnessed some kind of dent voodoo, or captured a dent shaman and feed off of his powers while they keep him locked in a closet. You wonder if this sorcery will work on your dent too. You go in and get an estimate on your dent, and to your surprise, they quote about a quarter of what your insurance deductible is. They can get you on the schedule two days later, and claim that they can repair the dent to 90% of factory condition. You were hoping for 100%, because after all, you've had the car for a week. They tell you that they can likely do better than 90%, but they have to say 90% to ensure that they don't over-promise. You can live with that and decide to give it a shot. McDowells has your car for all of 2.5 hours, and in that time, they completely, 100%, like it never happened, repaired the dent. Like, it's all the way gone. Vanished. Your brand new car is no longer tainted, and you can go on living your life. You didn't have to involve your insurance company, and you didn't have to pay your full deductible. You also didn't have to leave your car at a body shop for days on end. You are happy, and you shout from the mountain tops that McDowells is the real deal. read more

I had gouged the paint on my new 4Runner trying to go around a piece of wood, and got two deep white scratches down the side of the car I was sure were through the clear coat. Matt did an amazing job, not only can't you tell it ever happened but he went the extra mile polished out all of the small scratches on that side of the car. I dented a lower panel on my 2014 truck and thought I would have to spend a fortune to make it look new again. I took the truck to McDowells and they quoted me a around $180 to take the dent out. The guaranteed that the dent would be 95% gone. The repair took about 4 hours (probably a couple of hours of shop time). The dent is totally gone and was well worth the price to fix it, especially since I did not have to have the truck painted and was only in the shop for a few hours. Wont let you put zero stars. This guy needed this This guy and his whole crew are liars and ripoffs. Scammers! I took my boat here to have the interior redone. My boat is now a piece of junk. They removed all the rivets in the boat. This was done by a simpleton. He didn't have the right tools to do the job. I complained and was told that everything would be okay it was just going to cost a couple hundred more dollars. They were special 3 inch rivets. When I came back to check on the progress my boat was being put back together with wood screws. I DID NOT tell them to use screws. They lied and said I gave the go ahead for screws. I asked for a signed work order change and I was told that I had been trespassed from their property. I tried in vain to contact the owner. He was on vacation and didn't want to be disturbed. I have the most unbelievable recording of him telling me to just take the boat a no cost. Now its back to rivets but the wrong ones. This STUPID idiot thinks he did a good job. The carpet is so thick the compartments even wont close correctly. Now he is charging me storage because I don't wont a junk piece of shit. My guests fish and I tighten screws and rivets. Sent me an accounting of what he says I owe him. I guess he forgot about the six hundred dollar cash down payment I gave them. I was happy to just let it go. You asshole now we go to court. Just waited for you to hang yourself. Kind of strange. McDowells has responded to all negative reviews with some kind of excuse. The reason he hasn't responded to mine is that there is no response for what you did. read more

Very pleased with my experience with McDowells. I left a message and received a call back the same day to discuss my inquiry. I sent a photo in of my sofa which had a loose string that needed stitched back up and received an estimate. A service tech was sent to my house at a time that worked for my schedule. Paul was prompt and even showed me how he would fix the stitch. He was knowledgeable and friendly. He even knew how to lift the residue from the electrical tape I put over the string to keep it from pulling all the way out. The repair did not take long, had a nice conversation with Paul, he even had a tip on a finish to try for a large chair I was refinishing in my garage. I went in a few years ago for my leather book bag that was falling apart. Both sides of my leather shoulder strap were torn and breaking apart and I went in to have one side repaired. They were really friendly and once they noticed that both sides needed a repair, they asked if I wanted both worked on. I only had enough money to repair one side and told them I'd come back another time to get the other side fixed. Well, when I came to pick my bag back up, they told me they fixed both sides for me. They fixed the second side free of charge. Considering I was a poor college student at that time, it really meant a lot to me. I still think about their act of kindness every time I drive by their location. The quality of the work was excellent and the experience was even better.
