OMG This place is Great!! Since COVID, my taste has changed. Lots of foods I enjoyed before do not "taste" good to me. I've wasted so MUCH money on food I throw away after a few bites...... if I even swallowed it. We were on holiday with family in Branson and had already had a few disappointing meals. I was really REALLY hungry when we came into this restaurant. I ordered a patty melt, which I've been craving, but can't find any in TN made with Rye bread. Well, McFarlain's did and WOW, was it GOOD!!! I practically danced on the table I was SO excited to get a meal that was Tasty!!! I don't remember what everyone else ordered, but we all walked out full and Happy!! It's in a strange place.... in a small sort of mall. Went here instead of another diner. The food was okay. We ordered the chicken pot pie with a side salad and the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. Not busy, but our order took forever and the table next to us got their food first and we sat way before them. Our serve had a "deer in the headlights moment" when she saw that and I think she had forgotten to put in the order. Two of our 6 guests didn't get their drinks for 20 minutes. We came to eat one of our last meals in Branson before heading back home to NWA. This place was one of the suggestions given by The Carriage House Inn. And man we're they spot on. This place is pitiful. We had a party of 11 and waited for 45 minutes to be seated. Our party was split over two tables. One table received their drinks and bread immediately and placed their order. Our waitress took our drink order and appetizers, but we did not receive until after the other table had received their entrees. At this point, we had been sitting for over 30 minutes. After ordering our meals which never came. I asked the server who served the other table to check on our order since our waitress never came back. After an hour wait our waitress returned and said our order was given to another table and offered the excuse they were under staffed, but our order was just being prepared. She then became belligerent and rude. We offered to pay for our entrées and we were leaving. She said just leave. We complained to the manager but he could care less. read more

We LOVE this restaurant!! A few years ago we ate their fried green tomatoes, and they were just as good this time around! We also had the pot roast dinner and it didn't disappoint either. Of course we then had to have a slice of chocolate cake to top off our meal. All of it was so good! We noticed their cinnamon rolls that day, couldn't get them out of our minds, so went back this morning for those! They are huge and warm and gooey-good. Bought one for tomorrow's breakfast too. Good pie! Meals overall were good. Veggies bland and just out of can. Chicken fried steak and chicken were good. McFarlains Special sandwich would be better with choice of sauce. McFarlain's Restaurant is the best place to eat in Branson! Amazing food and Great service- Thanks Cade! I ordered the Backwoods grilled chicken with sweet potato fries. Very delicious! The dipping sauce that was served was something I have never tasted before, a pineapple coconut taste, unique flavor. Very delightful. The portion was large, and my fiancé finished it off. He ordered the McFarlain's Special and said it was really good. Our 3yr old had the chicken fingers and fries. We sampled that too, and those were the best chicken fingers I have ever tasted. We were all stuffed but wanted to try a slice of the Branson traffic Jam pie. This was so scrumptious! The prices were definitely fair. Five stars from my family! read more

We ate here last night (2 adults, a 5 year old, and a 2 year old) we were seated right away and our waiter was SO friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was so fun and inviting! I got the roast, my husband the chicken fried chicken, and my kids got a hamburger and corn dogs. All the food was delicious, the cream corn was AMAZING, my son ate every bite (which is rare) and my husband said his was exactly what he was wanting. We got a coconut cream pie slice to go, and let me tell you... that was the best coconut pie I've ever had in my life. As soon as I see the wait to be seated sign I immediately send a silent ughh as the wait me be long. Waitress within 2 minutes walks over with a organic smile and warm greet. We are seated with menus in front of us. Waitress waltzing over with great energy and begins the order. First thing is fried green tomatoes. When they come they are piping hot on paper. The only down side to them is they are sitting in a kid size pool of grease. I immediately removed them and put them on napkins to soak up what was still Left over. The tomatoes were seasoned well and complimented the ranch perfectly. Afterwards appeared a cute little side salad on a tin plate with cornbread thick enough to be served as dessert. I had raspberry vinaigrette on top of the crisp cool lettuce and accompanying veggies. The salad was satisfying but the bread was hard and the butter on top was not helping. I had to take a life saving gulp of lemon water to ensure I would make it through to the next course. Finally the pot pie arrives with a bed of pilaf. The rice was cold to touch and the same for the pie. The waitress came and jolted off which the cold plate only to return moments later. This saved the meal! Potpie had big chunks of white breast meat covered by a flaky buttered crust. The first bite was an explosive symphony of creamed gravy and veggies! Every bite after made me do a happy foot shuffle under the table. With an atmosphere of relaxed on point customer service, I can say McFarlain's is worth it read more

absolutely disgusting. my family and i are from out of state. we were on the waitlist for 30 minutes, which was no biggie. by the time we got a text message and went up to the host stand. the hostess caught an attitude and said they called us over the intercom and proceeded to tell us we should of been in the building. GUESS WHAT. we were in the building the ENTIRE time and heard nothing. she then continued with "well i'll see if i can get you a table." we got seated shortly after that incident. we then got drinks and food order. oh my goodness. i've never had such greasy trash ass food. we were so excited for the fried green tomatoes and it was just gross. the grease tasted burnt. nothing was seasoned. my mom was too nice to say anything and paid for the check and we left. if i could give it one star i would. ;) read more

I give this four stars according to Branson location. What that means is we haven't really found any great, knock your socks off food in Branson at all. There just doesn't seem to be the attention to taste and quality there. I think they may rely on the constant stream of people attending nearby attractions. That being said I give this four stars for breakfast. Mcfarlands is a large restaurant inside of an indoor mall. It's a super cute place that is old-fashioned farm themed. The wait staff is friendly and the prices are good. We have only tried their breakfast but was very pleasantly surprised with the quality. Their biscuits came with homemade strawberry rhubarb, cherry preserves which was very tasty. The all you can eat' pan cakes have a hint of vanilla to them and are golden brown. We had a stupendous time here for breakfast today! We have never laughed so hard. Part of our group at at one of the rising tables and minor of them noticed the table moving until it was over grandma 's shoulders! Haha! We had amazing service. Very prompt, knowledgeable and courteous. The food was excellent. Everyone loved everything. Absolutely no complaints. I had the chocolate chip pancakes and they were by far the best I've ever had. We enjoy eating at McFarlain's. Food: I would call it "comfort food": meatloaf, roast, cornbread, etc. it is all very good. I do not like sweet potatoes however, the sweet potato fries fantastic! This restaurant had great reviews so we decided to try it out. It didn't take long to get a table but once we were seated it took over about 45 minutes to get our food. The food was gross! Hashbrowns were undercooked, the chicken tenders had zero flavor and were so dry! Our server never came back to ask if we needed anything. We waved down to get our drinks refilled but he never came back. He dropped off the ticket and never came back to take payment. Tuesday evening, 1st week of November, first night in Branson, late dinner. Yelp shows the hours as open till 9pm. It's in a small mall type venue that includes a movie theater so expect to be driven wild by the smell of movie pop corn as you wait for a table. As you wait there are small shops you can wile away the time. Also, there is only 1 public restroom in the building. The restaurant does not have one. We got there a bit before 7pm, had a 30 minute wait even though the place looked empty (it's bigger around the corner so don't judge the front of the room by lack of customers. Our waitress Hannah was professional and friendly. She took our party of 6 order. Mostly soup and salad, fried chicken and the pot roast. Food came out hot and yummy. The pot roast is a perfect blend of tender meat, gravy and carrots. The honey cornbread was hot and delicious. Hannah made sure we had what we needed, kept our glasses refilled and bussed tables. I left the table to find the restroom, remember it's outside the restaurant and came back to see a sign we missed going in that they close at 8pm. At no time were we felt to be in their way being their too close to closing nor was our food or service substandard. Looking for comfort food with a line this is a good place. I think they have an upstairs that has a bakery and cobbler, but didn't check it out. read more
