I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with a mechanic company that left me utterly frustrated and disappointed. My visit to this establishment was prompted by an issue with my vehicle's electrical system, and what I encountered can only be described as a textbook case of incompetence and unhelpfulness. The problem began when my car's battery kept dying, leading me to suspect that the alternator might be at fault. Based on recommendations from friends, I chose to bring my car to this particular mechanic company, hoping to get a quick and accurate diagnosis. Little did I know that this decision would lead to a nightmare of an experience. Upon arriving at the shop, I explained the issue to the mechanic, who assured me that they would conduct a thorough examination of my vehicle. After several hours of anxious waiting, I received the dreaded call from the mechanic, informing me that the alternator indeed needed replacement. However, the shocker came when they dropped the bombshell that it would cost a staggering $900 to replace the alternator, along with an additional unnecessary process that was supposedly needed. Suspecting that something was amiss, I decided to get a second opinion from a different mechanic. To my astonishment, the second mechanic revealed that the initial diagnosis was completely incorrect. The alternator was in perfect working condition, and the real issue was a simple, inexpensive fix to a loose battery connection. The process demonstrated at best gross incompetence, and at worst, $1,100 of exploitation of a college student. My experience with this mechanic company left me not only out of pocket but also deeply disappointed and frustrated. It is unacceptable for a supposedly reputable establishment to misdiagnose a problem and attempt to overcharge customers for unnecessary repairs. Their actions reeked of dishonesty and a complete disregard for the well-being of their clients. I would strongly advise anyone considering this mechanic company to think twice and seek out more reputable and trustworthy alternatives. I have to say a heartfelt thank you to the gang at McFarland's!!! I'm very partial to using locally owned businesses and it is simply because you get the best from your neighbors. It's because they know you will give them your best as well. This afternoon, I went out to start my truck to take a quick run to the store, but the silly truck thought otherwise. It wouldn't start. I called McFarlands. Okay, it was the most expensive jump start I have ever had, but soooooo very worth it! The tech lives around the corner from me. He pointed out that my battery was the one that my truck came with (the truck is 11 years old) and that although my guess of the problem being with the starter was good, it wasn't correct. He was polite and great natured while being professional. He gave me options that met my budget wonderfully. I would definitely use this service again. They are very professional. Their customer service is outstanding. Their mechanical expertise is exceptional. They know Volvos having owned 3 Volvos. Rick, the mechanic that worked on my V70 was very efficient and task oriented. They show up on time for service onsite at your own home. That in itself would be worth any extra cost but their rates are very reasonable. Their service was far less expensive than my regular Volvo mechanic and I didn't have to wait 2 weeks for an appointment. With parts and service they saved me over $400 from the estimate I got from my regular mechanic. I would feel very confident about recommending them to my family and friends. Cant ask for better service. I was stranded .I called them without appointment and they came to me within 2 hours. Phil diagnosed my trucks problem ,went and picked up new parts ,and installed them very quickly. Price was reasonable. Service was excellent. The best service I have had in years. My 2002 Chev Cavilar headlights would not work at all. Others places quotes were high, Got the job done the right way at home. They came to me!
