They did an excellent job communicating with each other. We had a few trees in tight places and they did a great job getting the trees to fall in just the right places. When the work was done they were very positive towards each other and it made my heart happy to see them take pride in their work. They make a good team in a dangerous job. My toddler and I had a great time watching them work. Very professional from start to finish. Bill (the owner) came over promptly to do an estimate to fell several large trees that were storm-damaged and some other fire-mitigation work. His bid was very reasonable and he said they could do the job within a week - otherwise it would have to wait until after the holidays. I said let's do it asap and Bill was able to squeeze me into their schedule. The crew of 3 turned up right on time and got right into it. They were here for most of the day and I was amazed by how easy they made it look. When they left, the property looked as it they'd never been there (apart from a few less trees of course). This is the first time I've hired McGarva for actual tree service (deadwooding and multiple tree removals) after utilizing them previously for stumpgrinding and tree spraying, and I'm highly impressed with the thoroughness of the job done. The crew consisted of just 2 guys, Kyle and Corey, who tackled the whole day job with gusto and hustle. I appreciated the care they employed in carefully negotiating their bucket truck through my backyard so as not to leave behind ground damage while also maximizing the ability of such equipment and manpower to reach anything I asked them to. My property looks excellent from K&C's efforts plus I've further mitigated fire danger throughout my yard. McGarva was contacted to have some tree mitigation done on a home that I was purchasing. They were provided the exact insurance requirements for the tree mitigation and the statement of work that they provided stated that they would mitigate the trees according to the insurance requirements. I was out of town on orders for the Army while the work was completed, when I returned, I found 2 large tees right in front of the house (The main concern with the tree mitigation, because they could fall on the house) had not been cut down, just the lower branches that were reachable had been cut. The insurance company came out to verify the completion of the work and let us know that the two trees needed to be cut down. I contacted McGarva to have them come out and complete the work that they agreed to do in the initial contract. When I asked him why the trees had just been trimmed and not cut down, he told me, "Because it would have been more work to cut the trees down." He refused to come back out and complete the work that he had agreed to do and told me that the job was done and I should look for other insurance. This company is dishonest and will not stick to their word. They spent a majority of their time trimming trees on the border of the property (That did not need to be trimmed or cut down) and mulching the branches to make it look like they were doing something. After they were paid over $6,000, I am still unable to get homeowners insurance because of McGarva's negligence and utter dishonesty. I would not recommend this company, gone are the days of business owners sticking to their word. read more
