I"ve been coming here for years. And unfortunately, I think it's time for new management. Dark atmosphere isn't bad, but it could use a fresh coat of paint and what does it take to remove the funk from the tables?? I'm getting tired of my arms sticking to the tables whenever I go there. The food's pretty good, depending on what you get. They do a decent job with burgers..I do like their boneless wings and their daily specials are a good value. Food was severely dry, nachos were just a pile of chips with hard cheese, a pile of beans , & a scoop of sour cream. Boneless wings barely had any sauce and the burger was significantly smaller than the bun. Atmosphere for football was great with a good beer special but the food was a disappointment. I loved McGlynns Pub! I was in town on business and happened upon this hole in the wall strip shopping center establishment. Great TVs and service. It was Tuesday, 1/2 Price burger night....I went with the stuffed burger.(4.50)..Excellent choice! Yuengling, which is considered an import in most Southern states, was $1.50 a glass. I made every effort to spend $20 over the course of 2.5 hours. Mission accomplished, it wasnt' easy...but I did it! Cheap bear, great inexpensive food, and easy going atmosphere. This pub has a bit of atmosphere when you walk in. But lacks the pazzaz it could have if only the staff could take a bit more interest. Turn the lights down & Turn the music up Simple concept. But last time we were in there it was like walking into a grocery store. It took too long to be served at the bar and the barmaids were more interested in chatting and smirking to themselves - rather than the customers that pay them. The food used to be good but I've not eaten there for years. If this is your only close bar for a drink then it's ok. Unfortunately it's the best around for a few miles. I've been to this location a few times for late night drinks but this is a first and last for food. I initially walked into a less than tidy bar and quickly sat down un-greeted at the bar which was covered in what seemed like stale beer and food reminisce. After about 10 minutes the young bartender finally noticed me sitting there and halfheartedly asked what I was drinking. With her limited personality I placed my drink order and asked for a menu. After approximately another 15 mins she reappeared from the empty room and asked me what I was having. I ordered the quesadilla. Without recommendations or any questions she placed the order. After approximately 15-20 mins another young waitress arrived with the dish without questions and quickly ran away. The dish itself looked ok in presentation but was served cold and covered in what appeared to be a ranch sauce. The sour cream accompanying the dish was bear frozen and over soured indicating it expiration weeks ago. The bartender returned not long after I finished never asking how the food was or if I need anything else. It was clear from the staff (including what appeared to be the manager) that they had limited care towards their customer or food. From the loud conversations it was obvious they were more concerned with the i weekend/night plans than their job. I give this location the following ratings: "F" for food "F" for service "B" for noise "D" for cleanliness "F" for attentiveness My recommendations: Go anywhere else but here. read more

My husband and I would frequent this place at a minimum of 2 times a week. Sometimes just few beers and it usually involved some food. We live locally and have a handful of favorite places to go. McGlynns was always one of them. Sit at the bar, grab a beer, get a little bite, have a basket of popcorn while we wait. We used to always run into someone we knew. Not so much anymore. It was a good go to. This review is only one instance. I have many more. But this was the most recent because we still keep hoping our experience will get better. I keep trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. I blame Covid for messing everything up. I blame not enough help or cooks but now I'm blaming management. I told my husband I can't do it anymore, enough is enough with the rudeness. We always sit at the bar. I know bartenders come n go but a few who stuck it out should by now know our faces. Even just to say hey how are you, what can I get you? We've see managers "I assume" who pop out of the back every now and then. Although we Haven't seen in a long time the big guy, bushy mustache who was there forever and seemed to hate his job, never cracked a smile. Every now and then, we now see a lady who I assume is a manager come into the bar area. We catch a eye glance at each other but she even tries to force a smile or say hello. I know she recognizes us. Good businesses would know their frequent customers. The food quality and service is poor. I had 4-5 items on the menu that were always my go to. 2 they took off the menu. Shrimp quesadilla and burger sliders. So then, it was the roast beef sandwich, onion soup or wings. One night the roast beef sandwich was so horrible, I will never order it again! I was scared to open the roll. Beef was so dried out and was so stringy and fatty, I had to spit it in my napkin. The au jus was cold and roll was hard and stale. I was done! Couldn't take another bite. My Husband said it can't be that bad, I said here ya go. He opened the bun and was like awww that's nasty, it's all dried up and fat. He said, send it back! I said no way! I'm always afraid in places like that the cooks will spit in my food! I'll just eat my soggy cold ff's. My husband order the wings. He always ask for extra sauce, an extra blue cheese and extra crispy, anywhere we go, right from the start. He always says "I don't care if it takes longer, I just want them crispy!". So yes, after the "super long wait" (which we didn't say a word) finally some server came to the bar asking if they were anyone's. We said right here! By this time, probably the once crispy wings, were now cold. Dish had no extra sauce or blue cheese on it. My husband ask the food runner for it because he knew it would take forever for the inattentive bartender. After eating one wing and giving me one, he flagged down the bartender as she zipped past us without a look to get us the check and a box. She said 1 or 2 . I said 1, the roast beef sucked I'm not taking that. She never said a word back, brought the box. She grab our card my husband laid on the counter, she made 2 drinks for someone else, swiped the card and laid the receipt in front of us, and said thanks have a good night. Really? read more

We've been here several times and always enjoy our meal. The staff is friendly and we've never had bad service. When you walk in the aroma of popcorn fills the restaurant. They have a popcorn machine at the front that customers are welcome to. (Self serve) Their salmon burger is delicious! (even more delicious on half price burger night :) If you're a smoker, you'd probably appreciate their outdoor seating. They have a section blocked off outside for that sort of thing. read more

I'm new to the area- visited this bar about a month ago, sat at bar and there were 2 bartenders no more then 5 feet away from me, having a personal conversation- one playing with her phone as well. Over 15 minutes passed by without neither of them acknowledging me so finally I said something and the one bartender got me a drink yet acted like she was upset I asked for a drink after sitting there for 15 minutes LOL what a piece of work. Initially I won't lie I thought it was racially based yet after reading a few other reviews I see it's the culture of this spot. This leads to last night I went here again giving it a chance thinking those were just two boneheaded bartenders. So when I walked in there were 4 workers at hostess desk (none of which acknowledged me) I sat at a high table and atleast 10 minutes went by so finally I walked up to hostess desk and asked could I get a drink- one girl looked at me like she never saw a black person before the other got an attitude and said to get a drink at the bar LOL man. I would not recommend this joint- I would NEVER go back. I would go eat fake food from McDonald's first. Lastly, it amazes me places like this stay open. I also fault management because if employees can do this obviously management doesn't care. read more

This is my first negative review ever as I'm pretty easy to please. I will never go to Mcglynn's again. This was our first visit in about five years because we weren't impressed at all the last time we went, however we were at Peoples Plaza for their holiday celebration and decided to try lunch. I should have known it was a bad sign when we stood at the door waiting to be seated for over five minutes while not a single server was in sight. We got seated, only to be surrounded by dirty tables our entire visit (we heard one waitress tell another that it wasn't her job to clear someone else's tables). The atmosphere was as cold and surly as the waitstaff, with the exception of one young man who was running circles around the others. They were obviously under-staffed for this Saturday lunch hour, but there were several times we noted waitresses standing around doing nothing. Our orders were taken and we started to become antsy (as did our kids) after about 20 minutes. Not sure why it ended up taking 30 minutes for a sandwich, cup of soup, and chicken fingers, but had the food actually been any good, that would have been this restaurant's saving grace. It wasn't. The fries were scant and cold. The kids' chicken was rubbery. The sandwich mediocre. We were so eager to leave this place, we couldn't get our check soon enough. This bar is really great. Speedy service, Cougars galore, but I tell ya what. That men's bathroom. I feel like this bar attracts men with the worst urination accuracy in the nation. There was probably an inch of pee on the bathroom floor when prime time football was happening. Thankfully it all dried up by the time the four o'clock games were on so the fear of tearing an acl was ultimately eliminated. Food was great. I'm not a picky person. I rarely complain. I never send food back. But this was just a really mediocre experience. The food, while edible, was so disappointing. The fries were cold and overcooked to the point that they were crunchy. Not even a touch of salt on them. I ordered the roast beef sandwich with au jus dipping sauce. I was excited for the horseradish sauce, but there was only the tiniest drop on the sandwich. I didn't taste it at all. The only other fixin on the sandwich was a giant slice of red onion, which overwhelmed the whole sandwich. The roast beef was dry and the au jus didn't help. All of the food just seemed sad. The beer I ordered on tap didn't taste as good or fresh as I've had it in the can, if you can believe it. My husband asked what did I expect ordering an English beer in an Irish pub? Well...I expect that if you have a beer on tap, that it's going to be somewhat fresh. The atmosphere was fine. The table tops a little sticky and wobbly. Our waitress was friendly and accommodating though. I probably would not come here again if I planned on eating or drinking. read more

Pretty nice place to knock back a few, good for football sundays and Monday Night Football too. Good draft beer selection. Food is decent, bare fare- burgers, wings, nachos, etc. Try the Chesapeake Pretzel. Crabmeat atop a soft pretzel. Very good. I really love McGlynn's cheeseburgers. So much so that I was given gift cards for Christmas so I can have them whenever I want. While the burgers are great the service really isn't. Last week when I showed up to pick up my to-go order after waiting 30 minutes to go get it and another 30 minutes at the bar at the bar I was informed that the order had never been turned in. They made my food but I had to wait at least another 30 minutes. also comped it and the guy who took my order came over and apologized. Last night something very similar happened. Went to pick up my to-go order and sat at the bar for quite some time. I of course assumed that again my order had not been turned in but apparently that wasn't the case they just hadn't made it. I sat there and had a drink which they comped. Neither night was a weekend. I wasnt going to rate, and I didnt go to low because the burgers are always fabulous. I am sad about the service, though. While I was working for the movie theatre in college, I would hope my friends and I caught the early evening shift so we could get off by 11:30PM and head to McGlynn's. The food is flavorful and the beers are plenty and varied, not what you would expect from a strip mall Irish-themed bar. Had never been to mcglynns before, stopped in for an after work week happy hour. Atmosphere was great for a restaurant/bar. We had a large group of 15 or more at times, and service was great. Server automatically split checks without anyone asking! Had a few beers and the hummus. I recommend the hummus here if that's your thing. read more

Superbowl parade Tina the bartender when arriving she was rude and bit snotty acting like we were bothering her, she stated several times she was not going to keep the TV on and listen to shit ! off the volume went and put on music because she didn't want to listen to that shit ! Pre her , I had lunch and I had a 2 drinks i ask her to turn the volume on , she gave me an attitude , across from us there was a special needs man that was there that was blind but wanted to hear the parade so he ask to turn it up , with an attitude again she said yeah..., in a few .... well minutes later (took her time because she didn't want to hear it , and was basically doing it on spite (SHE thought she owned the bar) SHE decided to turn it up at her convenience after upsetting the patrons When I said to her where here to watch the parade not listen to music .., she became rude , I said am a patron I paid to eat n drink here I would like to watch and listen to the eagles parade she became rude and started talking back to me and being very disrespectful !! She then stated it was her bar and to get out ! So i cashed out and went to a different bar where 4 other patrons showed up at buffalo wild wings , walked out after they witnessed how she spoke and disrespected me and the man with special needs also showed up ..,funny you act snotty and think your better than others and " its your bar" you loss business I was not drunk just trying to enjoy a special victory for eagles I will never step foot in this bar again and to make matters worse when theses other patrons that were their and showed up at buffalo wild wings came up to me and said she was talking about you when you left to the other workers and patrons in the bar staff started laughing and thought it was funny, they said thats was it ... talked with the manger and they said that they got the impression that the manager really didn't care and they left. been coming here for 7 yrs always had a problem with her before , even when it comes to keno she throws looks and gives attitude.... it's her job and if you don't like your job then maybe she should get another job you can't treat people like that ! Convinced the family to go there for my sisters birthday and was overall disappointed. We were seated quickly enough but our waitress was terrible. She was slow and less than enthusiastic about getting our food, half our table waited almost 20 min longer for their food and all we needed was a burger and a hot dog. I got the all you can eat wings which were just blah, asked if I could get half and half sauces and was told no, my mother ordered a burger which they got wrong and then she dubbed it inedible and asked to have it removed from the bill which they took care of. I really dislike putting up less then good comments about a place, and this time I must. I've been here a few times over the last 5 years and every time is the same. The food is mediocre at best. The hostess greeted us (if "follow me" in a depressing tone is what you consider greeting), took us to our table and handed menus. Lucky us our hostess was our waitress too...she perked up while taking the order..food came out in a decent time, hey there's a plus! We got crab and artichoke dip, was ok, bread was hot and fresh. My son and I ordered the Reuben sandwich..I mean we are at an Irish pub, right? Both were nothing to write home about...meat was extra salty, and tough, bread was toasted too much that it made my lips hurt biting into it...I couldn't wait to finish it, just to be done! My son shared the feelings, and only are half...I was super hungry ( which you would think would have made it taste better..nope). My husband got a roast beef and seemed satisfied with it. The place had about 4 tables filled, including us and we had to wait for our bill...I don't see myself patronizing the place again...too disappointed. :( read more

OK, first of all, been coming here for years after movies for yummy sandwiches and drinks...after tonight, no more. Tables left unbussed across from us for most of our meal...the place just looked messy and dirty. Our table was sticky- we noticed that the bus boy was bussing without a tub and wiping tables with a dry napkin.... waiter was slow and wore a dingy Santa hat. Fried pickles were great but then our dinners came and what was supposed to be a NY strip was a gristlylump of non- strip steak. It took a long time for our waiter to do a check in to even notice that my husband had not even touched his meal. The girls behind us had to grab another waitress to let her know they had been waiting 30 minutes for their beers. We are pretty laid back and hardly ever have a complaint but it was sad to see a fave of ours be so lackluster...the bar was busy but our section was half empty which did not excuse the lack of prompt service and upkeep in cleanliness. My husbands meal was taken off the bill...and we will head elsewhere after a movie next time :( read more

My family and I love McGlynn's and we frequent the Dover, DE location. We love their food, their service, and their beer selection. We recently had a not so great customer service experience at the Peoples Plaza location and I wrote on the website to let management know. Not expecting a response, I got an email from Marc (President of Ashby group who owns McGlynn's, Cantwell Tavern, Deer Park) apologizing and ensuring what we experienced was far from what is expected of their staff and steps were being taken to correct it immediately. He also offered a gift card as consolation. Nice to know the owner cares so much. We'll definitely go back, if not for the items mentioned above, for the way we were treated by the owner. Does not seem possible. large chunks of onion, thick roast beef - not thinly sliced as menu says , mayo - no hint of horseradish - lousy chopped coleslaw - no hint of vinegar.
