Five star for good customer service as they did give me full refunds and they sound like nice people. One star for terrible boots (they are not real snowboard boots) and bindings that did not fit the boots properly! I normally rent my kids' boots and board at Mt High, Big Bear, and Mammoth ski resort, but they usually cost more or have longer lines, so this time decided to find a local shop to save time and money. Renting was very fast--no long lines and easy paperwork, that was the good part. However, first they gave my kid a very short board. I've already rented 4 times at the three ski resorts mentioned above for my kiddo so I know the right size board for my kid. I asked for the correct size board which they switched for me. When I got to Mt High, I realized the binding is way bigger than the boots, even at the tightest, I can still fit my whole hand between the binding and boots, that just gives no control of the board for my daughter. I know this cuz I'm an avid boarder and have been boarding for about 18 years. I called them and they apologized and offered refund or replace with correct bindings. Since I've already parked at East resort and took the bus to West side, I didn't want to really go back since I don't have a car at West side, so I decided to just rent a new board for my daughter that has the right size bindings. My daughter has a private instructor class with Mt High instructor with my friend and her son. To my surprise, the instructor says my daughters boots are not real snowboarding boots, just regular snow boots, and because they are so soft and not stiff like how snowboard boots are they can cause injury to my daughters ankle, so the instructor required my daughter to get new correct snowboard boots. So wow, wrong boots, wrong board size, and wrong bindings! All three incorrect! It was loss of precious private class time to exchange boots. So to be very blunt, if you look online, Snowboard boots cost way more than snow shoes as I was debating about buying or renting. Since they are such soft shoes, there's not much control, that's why they give you very short boards. So now it make sense to me why they did what they did. If you are serious about boarding, then look elsewhere for proper snowboard boots, correct size bindings, and correct size boards. It makes a huge difference. I own two boards, three snowboard boots myself, so diff length boards, diff stiffness of boots all make big difference. If it's not even real snowboard shoes, your child can really be injured. Hope the owners will consider upgrading their boots to real snowboard boots and follow professional guidelines.

I had just purchased a new snowboard, but didn't have boots to go along with them; I decided to give McGrath's a shot for boot rentals for my trip to Mountain High and was glad with the outcome. From the moment I walked in, I felt like walking into a friend's house, as I was warmly greeted and Tom was immediately cracking jokes. Their selection of gear is great and reasonably priced. Upon receiving a pair of boots, I tried them on and then checked if they fit with my board's bindings, but the bindings were too small. Instead of trying to convince me to spend on a rental, Tom offered to put standard sized bindings for a nominal fee; this was great as this fix guaranteed I would be able to fit on any snowboard boots in the future. Make sure to check out McGrath's for any apparel or gear rentals and/or purchases! Trust me, it's much cheaper than giving the resort more money, and you help out a local business.

Came to Mc Garth's rentals to get my board tuned up. Aaron was the best he was so helpful! He helped me and my friend get our snowboards correct binding position and advised her how to stand up. Also did a nice hot wax to my board and I was flying down the hill. Highly recommended spot!!! A++++

Hands-down the only spot to rent your gear to enjoy mountain high! Tom the owner was super friendly and all of their employees were kind patient and knowledgeable. 28 bucks to rent a snowboard and boots can't complain there! I requested a demo board and they hooked it up! When we came back at the end of the night to return our stuff the transaction was quick simple and we were out the door on our way home. Literally couldn't have asked for a better experience! Highly recommend they literally got everything you need! @neeks93 on Insta

This is located about 40mins (with traffic) from the mountain and the prices are amazing! Rental for skis and snowboard is only $25. They even do snow pants and jacket rentals which is a great spot for first timers not willing to invest in the whole outfit. Rentals don't include helmet. Helmet is $11 to rent. And goggles you have to purchase. It wasn't crowded when we went and we went on a busy day on January 2nd. It's a small shop and everyone is super friendly and helpful with finding you the right gear. They are all about safety as well. They accept card now and they do $100 deposit. They also offer $1 insurance for your gear just incase it gets stolen/breaks. This is pretty good as well instead of paying the full price that goes up to $300. They give you a pink slip as receipt after you pay. KEEP THESE! If you return with 5, your rental is FREE! If your friends are not coming back you can take their pink slip. It doesn't have to be in your name. When we finally got to the mountain there's this huge line for rentals and they are pricier too. This place came in clutch. I highly suggest going here!

McMullin Snowboard and Ski Co) is a cute small business ~ literally your one stop shop, specializing in all things ski & snowboard. It's located in Santa Ana in the deserted looking Edinger Business Park. They are definitely known for their discount prices on all winter/snow-related gear, outerwear, and accessories, as well as services like waxing, tuning, and rentals. When you walk in, the store is so neatly arranged and organized, it's super easy to find everything you are looking for. After coming here for so long, I legit just discovered that upstairs houses their "gently used" section, for those looking for an even more affordable option. The workers are super friendly, with a chill vibe. Everyone is knowledgeable & always willing you help you. My lil fam of 4 snowboards every year, so we have come here (year after year) to update our snow outfits, to googles, boots, snow socks, thermals, & beanies. You name it, they have it..AND we've bought it! Even when my kiddies wear younger..babies, we even got sledding/tubing gear here, so they could play in the snow. We really appreciate the affordable prices ~ ranging to discounted ones to more pricey name brands. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

We were greeted multiple times stepping into the store and asked if we needed any help. We just came here for a snow jacket to prepare for real cold. The inside has cool decorations, snowboard brands etc kind of like a little wooden fort. Theres even a laddered second floor where they sell 2nd hand items. The store is divided into sections for board care/rentals, they have curtained fitting space and a toilet. They even have helmets and ski shoes. The prices here for snow jackets/gear (have pants too) are definitely cheaper than other name brand outdoor places and good quality (150-200), even cheaper than some outlets (but im not too well versed in brand comparisons so dont quote me if you are seasoned). I I think accessories might be cheaper at outlets?, but its more convenient to get everything in one place. They have toe warmers and google covers. They even have the board conditions for different mountains written on a white board as if you were up there in a resort. It would be great if they had a diagram for beginners of what clothing items/essentials to get including accessories and thermal layers as the store overall is very approachable to a southern californian newbie. The only thing is that it is a bit hole in the wall, parking is a bit confusing as you do look like you're pulling up to an inn. But there is a parking lot and we seemed okay parking there for our time here. Had a good time here, would recommend it to anyone looking to get into winter sports.

My daughter's first time on a snowboard and the snow was a success thanks to the skill and professionalism of Instructor Trevor D. I highly recommend private lessons for the smaller kids here especially since they are 1:1. On another note, the runs that day were well-groomed and decent conditions for an afternoon. Traffic getting into the resort was rough, and the transport buses from the east to west parking lots weren't operating. There was no announcement about this, so my friends ended up walking from east to west parking, which was frustrating. On top of that, we experienced a fireplace being out of gas. They eventually got it lit, but by that time it was late, really cold, and we were about to head out because our lift tickets had expired. Overall, the resort has potential, but I felt unprepared for the crowd and the logistics were poorly communicated. Hopefully, they can improve operations and better handle busy days in the future.
