I don't think you can come here expecting quality. What you can expect is someplace warm to drink a beer and eat warmed up frozen food. So bring your expectations to that level and you'll be ok. We just wanted to grab something light and a drink or two before going back on the mountain. We were seated right away, the place inside is very 1980s, outdated and dark. Service was decent. We ordered the nachos, the chips were about the size of a dime, they were clearly the bottom of the bag, broken and stale, we asked for some adult sized chips. We got the short rib added, this was just cold lefter overs from likely a cheesesteak. Don't get it. All around it was basically cold nachos with like a spoonful of cheese. I am glad we didn't venture into any other food here. I think fried foods are probably the safest bet here. The beer is cold, I did order the Apple Pie hot drink and that is the only reason it gets 2 stars because it was delicious and tasted like a real apple pie. We were on the slopes all evening and were starving! We stroll in around 8:30pm and are immediately seated. The server came and was very pleasant. I ordered Ahi ahi tuna salad and raspberry tea and my husband ordered the black and blue burger, French onion soup and a beer. The food came so quickly! I like how my Ahi Tuna salad had kimchi, some seaweed and ginger...a mix of many asian delicacies! His burger was good too. Surprisingly they have an extensive menu. However the waitress didn't seem flexible on adding to a dish. They have all kinds of hot alcoholic drinks. Bring cash because the waitress took 45 min to split our table bill which seemed to really fluster her. The restaurant was almost empty when we were there. The water was served in plastic cups. Popular items at our table were the Blackened Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo, Lasagna Roll ups, Chili, french fries and peanut butter pie. The Boot Warmer had too much Cinnamon schnapps in it and was red. The Irish Coffee wasn't that great. read more

Understaffed? Undertrained? Just disappointing service. We were ignored twice for over 30 minutes.

The hostess here was rather rude when I visited last - I had only asked if there was a table in the restaurant that was near an outlet so I could plug in, and she made the experience a bit awkward. She told me to follow her and we circled around the whole tavern looking at the walls for outlets. When we found there were none except for where beer signs were plugged in, she said the beer companies would have a fit if I used their plugs, so I'd have to find another place to recharge. That was fine, but just walking around the whole restaurant was a bit awkward and then feeling unwelcome after none were found made me feel like an outsider. But I stayed and dined there anyway (there aren't many other options at Liberty). I ordered the grilled cheese and an IPA, I forget what kind. The grilled cheese did the trick, but it wasn't worth what I paid. As a side note, you can recharge in the little cafe near the gear rental area. read more

This review is specifically for the manager - the worst part is, she probably won't get in trouble for it. We watched her tell a younger lady that she needed to put a coat on - but the lady was wearing more clothes than most people wear to a gym. Completely fine by any and all standards. You could see it completely ruined the couple's night. They immediately paid and left. It was as if the manager sucked the life out of their night. I really wanted to like this place, I really did. But the manager is as mean as the cocktail menu is non-existent. It's pretty hit or miss, but since they've opened up the new pub in the other building, it really seems like a waste to spend ya hard earned cash money here. OMG- I always have the best food here. Perfect end to a day on the slopes. The crab cake sandwich is probably the best i've had in the area. The oreo pie is to die for. Great selection of beer on tap, and the bartenders (i always sit at the bar) are wonderful. Kristina is so on the ball and makes an awesome Hot Tody. Always a treat to eat here. read more

I have been to this establishment probably 10 or 12 times not because I am a huge fan by any stretch of the imagination, but because until this season it was the only option for food and drinks at Liberty Mountain. As far as the food...its bar food i.e. wings, nachos, quesadillas, burgers, etc.. Its okay at best. They have a hummus which is truly tasteless, hard, gritty, paste. I wouldn't order anything seafood related, but have had the sliders trio which was terrible. I had no idea what I was eating since they're all a different protein but I could not discern what was what. The wings were not bad though, and nachos get an okay. I have never had such bad drinks as I have had here. I feel like anything I have ever ordered short of beer has been terrible. I am really not a beer drinker, and so I usually look to a mixed cocktail or come vino, but anytime our group takes a break from the slopes to grab a drink I literally get disaapointed just thinking about what bad rendition of a cocktail I am going to get. I have had one of the worst, watery bloody marys I have ever had here, a "bay breeze" that tasted like old citrus fruit, a screwdriver made from grapefruit juice... the list goes on and on. McKee's Tavern is located at Liberty Ski Resort in Carroll Valley, Pa. Hours may vary during winter and summer seasons, so make sure to double check. There aren't too many options when you're hungry and have put in a few hours on the slopes. McKee's is warm, spacious and loaded with plenty of TV's to catch up on your football scores in between runs. The menu boasts a variety of appetizers, sandwiches, burgers and entrees, but the food is merely.... stadium food. That is what comes to mind. Take the nachos for instance. There are the totally generic nachos loaded with that disgusting bright orange ball park cheese whiz. And then there are nachos that drip with melted blends of cheesy goodness. McKee's serves the cheese whiz version. Drinks are typically served in a timely fashion, but our waitress had a hard time counting how many beers she served our group, and over charged us for a few items. Very unimpressive. I'm thinking we might want to check out a few places just outside of town in Emmittsburg on our next trip up to Liberty. read more

Came here for a quick lunch and a few beers during a long day of hitting the slopes at Liberty. Sat at the bar and ordered the sliders which were above average for ski resort food. But, I had one of the best experiences in terms of service from a bartender. I forget his name but he was your classic bartender. Able to make recommendations as he knows how to drink and does a great job of making small talk without being overbearing or intrusive. I almost didn't write this review, but I'm so upset that I couldn't allow this experience to pass. I took my mom on a trip to Liberty Mountain for her birthday. Everything was going quite well, until my sister and I decided to grab dinner at Mckee's. Now, we have been here more than a few times on other trips, and all of those experiences were fine. This time was very different. After a long day, we wanted to enjoy our food in our room, so we ordered out. We approached the bar to order and that was not the greatest experience within itself. I felt like I was ordering over the top of other patrons. The waitress was less than excited to take my order & I'm not totally sure why. She went on her way, continuing to help patrons at the bar. Her co-worker actually helped her to put in the order. I got a bacon cheeseburger (well done), and my sister had the wings to share with my mom. We sat near the bar and waited. And waited. AND WAITED. After about a half hour, I went to the end of the bar to ask the waitress about my order. She was casually talking to a patron. She then glanced at me and went right back to talking to the patron! I was absolutely livid and appalled, but I remained polite and asked her about my order. She went to the back for what seemed about two minutes and emerged with my order. My sister and I returned to our room. The food was mediocre at best and I could tell our food had been sitting for a while because the fries were cold. My burger was blackened and had a charred taste. I asked for a simple well done burger & maybe the cook couldn't comprehend that. At least two of the wings my mom consumed were undercooked. I didn't even bother to take the food back as I was afraid that I would get a special surprise to my meal, if you know what I mean. I don't know what happened in this visit, but I was not happy about it & it almost ruined my experience overall. With tip, a charred burger, cold fries and subpar wings almost cost me $40. It wasn't worth it. I may just eat before I come here next time around. read more

Fun little ski slope tavern. I got a couple Budweisers and the slider trio. Couldn't complain, it hit the spot. My friend got two draft beers and the chili and sandwich duo, which reminded me of Panera's pick two. Been eating here for 4 winters so far as my kid has been learning to ski and I've always really liked it. I've always had great service and all the food I've ordered has tasted good. Just had their new short rib dip along with the cream of crab soup and it was delicious. Plenty of refills on my soda and when I drink beer they are always quick to check if my beer is getting low (I was a member of the mug club for 2 of the 4 winters). If you are there on a Saturday make sure to ask for Kelly, she is my favorite waitress. read more

We arrived with a group of 8 about half an hour before the kitchen closed. Our waitress was a bit brisk but pleasant. She was quick to give us water and menus and quick to return to take our orders. When the food arrived, she gave my roast beef panini to my husband and nothing to me. She looked at us funny when we said we were short one dinner. After returning to the kitchen she proclaimed that we were right, she had messed up and that his Cuban sandwich would be out soon. Meanwhile, a friend of ours lifted the top bun off his burger to apply the condiments and was more than a little surprised to find that there was no burger underneath! His "bread sandwich" was funny at the time and when the waitress returned she blamed it on rushing to get our food out to us (we think she was rushing to get us out of there!) She returned with his burger and my husband's Cuban and said something about making sure some items were comped. About half way through our dinner another waitress began turning off lights in the restaurant. She actually reached over our table to turn one off behind us, leaving us eating in the dark. When we gave her dirty looks she asked if that bothered us and someone replied that it killed the ambiance. She gave us the handflip and said "whatever" and turned it back on. She may have been joking but my group took it to mean they wanted us out of there. When the checks came, they were split properly, but there were no comps and I was charged for fries, which I didn't order (they were an additional $2.25!) When asked about the comps she said she'd give us, she acted like she'd never said anything about it. The fries were taken off our bill, but she was not too happy about it. When she gave another girl her change she shorted her 85 cents. When the girl questioned her the waitress said they don't carry change, and after an awkward pause, she slammed a dollar bill on the table. All in all we left there none too happy with the place. Food: 3 out of 5 Ambiance: 4 out of 5 (until they turn the lights out on you) Service: 2 out of 5 Would I recommend this place to a friend? Maybe for drinks at the bar, but not for dinner. read more

I wish we had read the reviews before going here. I will start with the good, which was the pretzels and beer cheese appetizer. This was way better than everything else we ordered. Unfortunately they don't give you many pretzel pieces to go with the cheese, so really not worth the cost imo. Now for the rest. We waited for what seemed like FOREVER for our food. We were not given a head's up or an apology about this wait. It was ridiculous. You would think that with such an *incredibly* long wait, the food would be good. Not at all. In 12 years of marriage I have never seen my husband send back a dish. Today he sent back the noodle bowl. My crab cake sandwich was not good, either, but coming from Maryland I really should've known better than to order this here. The weirdest thing was that my son hated his *pizza* from the kid's menu - it was soggy and gross. He's not picky at all - especially not with something like pizza. Sheesh. read more

Overpriced for the quality of food. My son ordered the children's hamburger meal for $9. The burger was smaller than a White Castle hamburger. I asked the waitress if this was a joke. She then offered to bring a second one for an additional charge. $8 for a cup of chili, and $15 for a regular hamburger. Take the time to drive in to town and not be trapped by the ridiculous prices at the ski resort. There are many option in town that will save you a ton of money. read more

My daughters bridal party was at Boulder Ridge less than 2 mins away so we called to order pizza for pick up. Girl on the line said they didn't sell pizza even though the girls had been in the tavern the night before and had it. Finally she said they had specialty pizzas but she didn't know what size. She asked someone to check the freezer and measure them. (??? frozen specialty pizza's). she never found out so we ordered one of each 'specialty' pizza when we just wanted regular pepperoni, cheese, etc. We picked them up. No delivery 2 mins away. Just average. On flatbread. We were starving so they got eaten. By the way, the guests all went to McKees following the wedding the same day and enjoyed pepperoni pizza.
