    Great food! Great drinks!

Ok...so, I know this place gets a reputation fir mainly being an "old person @ place...but, I love this place and I still have another 30 years before I'll be an "old person". When you walk in the decor makes you feel like you've stepped into someone else's home to enjoy a good meal and laid back company. The food is always tasty...their staff is very efficient...especially, the staff making sure that everyone gets drink refills and anything that you might have forgotten to grab while you were up there...like salt and pepper, butter...etc... Honestly, you can beat the price to enjoy home cooked type meal options.

    ALL this for just $30?!!!

Prepare yourself for an experience that will lead you to unbutton your pants when you're done. Get your head out of the gutter. I'm talking about food. New to Indy, I've seen these MCL restaurants all over the place and all the exteriors share a common theme: HOME. And the food follows through with the theme. It's a cafeteria style restaurant of your homecooked favorites. From chicken parm to manhattan sandwiches, grilled tilapia to mac and cheese, pecan pie and spaghetti....honestly there's waaaaay too much to list here, but I think you get it. I tried the tilapia with some veggies and fried chicken. Pecan pie for dessert.YOU NEED TO GET THE PECAN PIE BTW! It was amazing! We did go around dinner time so the line was a little long and there was a bit of a wait. It was totally worth it though. I'll definitely be back at an MCL soon especially because I found out there's one right down the road from my house. OH LORD

    Someone ate well for cheap!!

MCL? Really? Isn't that for older people? I'm here to say no! It is a great place for everyone. I brought my family here for dinner on a Sunday evening. The staff was super friendly and took every precaution when it came to customer safety. Masks, gloves, distancing, everything. The food was of really good quality and delicious. This is the first time in weeks that I have seen my 4 year old clean his plate. My kids are all 10 and under and they loved their spaghetti, or fried chicken, or mashed potatoes. My favorite dish is the turkey Manhattan. It's more food than I can eat in one sitting, so I got two meals for 7$. My whole family ate and had left overs all for under 25$. I feel like this place would be great for anyone. There are healthy options, low carb options, and food for the soul options. I can see eating here after a big workout, or even on date night. Might not be fancy, but it is a great place to eat and visit with friends and loved ones.

Overview: a nice cafeteria style restaurant. The food is good, but nothing special, staff is attentive and the place is clean. Prices are a little expensive but not to bad. This place is Cafeteria style. You will go down a line and tell them what you want. You have the option of a entree with two sides or you can order a la carte. At the end they hand you the plate, you pay and then find your own table. The line to get food was very slow and they are quite busy on Sunday when we went. They do bring you refills on drinks and are really good at keeping up with it. The food was okay, nothing special and a little bland. I had the fried chicken, it was not to dry but not juicy. I also had mashed potatoes and gravy which were bland and mac n cheese which was very sharp. There was a lot of variety in food you could choose from as well as deserts. It had the atmosphere of a buffet. The men's bathroom was dirtier then usual men's bathrooms but the rest of the restaurant was clean

My Wife has done me an absolute disservice by telling me MCL is only for Senior Citizens who need a more bland diet to keep as healthy as possible. MCL is the GOAT!!! We actually decided to eat here on a whim after picking up a couple of checks from Midwest Bartending School because we usually go on a lunch date due to all the great spots in Castleton. It is a cafeteria styled restaurant where you can choose from the daily special, an entree with 2 sides, or a la carte. It can be a bit tricky though with pricing due to the days and times when some items aren't the actual price shown. Our bill was close to $30, which was surprising, seeing as I got the daily special and she chose another entree, we both ordered drinks and I had a side of pasta. Everything was delicious! I had the crusted tilapia with broccoli and mac n cheese with sweet tea. I could've stayed there ALL DAY and tried all of the other food but my Wife strongly suggested I not do that. (She is my biggest Hater.) She had the chicken parmesan with pasta and the rosemary bread. We didn't eat any of the desserts, not because they weren't delicious looking but because we needed to exercise SOME sort of restraint hahaha. They have also just rolled out an All You Can Eat Catfish Fish Fry Friday for Lent I believe, which is just $5.39! So I promised my Wife I'd take her back this upcoming Friday so we will definitely be back, as I am a Woman of my Word!

Still one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the greater Indy region. 3/5 stars however because the food was lukewarm and did not seem well-maintained. Despite the good assortment of options to choose from, the buffet didn't seem as clean as I would have liked. If you don't mind these things it's definitely good bang for your buck. My recommendation is to order regular entrees for dinner though. Not sure if it's a different chef or manager during those times but this was my husband's consensus as well. We both have ordered takeout here countless times but decided not to return for the buffet. We like our food hot and fresh and will pay the premium for that in the future. They didn't have palak paneer or paneer tikka masala for brunch either which are what I typically eat.

I'd offered a friend of mine a meal at his place of choice for Christmas. We usually get together on my side of town, however, this time around we chose something closer to him. Pagoda is in an older strip center, though it's fairly well maintained with accessible parking spots and an appropriate curb cut. The glass doorways here are a little heavy, though they were manageable. As you enter, there's dining to the right, a hosting area where you pay directly in the middle, some Chinese decor toward the front, and the remainder of the buffet and dining room behind the hosting area. They also have a party room all the way in the back. We arrived at about 5:30pm in the dinner hour. The crowd was pretty steady. There are several buffet tables with both traditional Chinese fare along with obvious American items like fried chicken, pizza, and other items. My friend and I found a table, though it was quite filthy with a big clump of food directly under it that wasn't cleaned up until we were done. After you pay, they give you your receipt and a server comes by to check your drinks and then brings the drinks. This server was efficient, though not particularly hospitable. That said, she did bring refills. The food ranged from downright cold to kind of warm. I think there were a couple items I'd consider to have been hot. I had one plate and started a second, however, by the second the coldness of the food made it very unappealing. Crab rangoons were decent. Chicken was tolerable. Fried rice was bland. Egg rolls were okay. It was all definitely very "meh" and nothing that I thought was memorable. The atmosphere was tolerable but far from appealing. I think the overall price was in the $40+ range including drinks for two people. Would I visit again? Not a chance. There are too many other better options. This is the area where I grew up and I was really hoping to find a place over here for those times when I am feeling nostalgic. While I've had worse meals, the average atmosphere, cold to warm food, dirty floor, and lack of welcome all add up to this being a one and done experience.

The Brazilian cheese bread was so good, and we also tried the warm grilled cheese with honey (not sure what it's called, but it was amazing). Everything tasted fresh and came out hot - maybe because we went for lunch on a weekday and it wasn't too busy. We grabbed a few things from the Market Table, which were all good, but we mostly stuck with the meats. The sides were great too and nice to have when we needed a little break from all the meats. Since we mentioned on our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary, our waitress told us we could get a complimentary dessert. We chose the tres leches cake and it was delicious. They even brought it out with a little "Happy Anniversary" plate, which was such a nice touch. The restaurant itself felt upscale but still comfortable, and everything especially the Market Table was kept really clean. For the price, especially at lunch, it felt like a great value. At other nicer restaurants you'd easily spend $50+ on just one steak, but here you get to try multiple cuts. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommend, especially for a special occasion.
