Very low mileage…read more As I was in the market for a replacement X I contacted a Sales Assistant who told me the vehicle had been well maintained and had no accidents. She sent me the Carfax which showed no maintenance in the past 1 year even though the odometer was just under 5,000 miles. At the least an oil change should have been done. The photos of the interior and exterior appeared to indicate the vehicles was in very good condition. However, I noticed the winch had been used and the winch rope was extended and tied off to the front hook. I also noticed the electronic winch cord was wrapped around the winch, a sloppy and unusual storage method for an electric winch controller. I suspected the winch had been used and wasn't fully retracted properly. Whether it was in good working was unknown. I reviewed the Carfax report and noticed unusual activity AFTER Toyota of Clovis purchased the vehicle including an "emissions system inspection" and a smog, which it passed. VERY unusual for a 1 year old vehicle with less than 5,000 miles. When I questioned the associate she said they check and service all used vehicles before being offered for sale. I questioned why they had NOT serviced the vehicle (oil change, etc) at 1 year but had instead smogged it and inspected the emissions. She had no answers. I suspected hidden undercarriage damage and requested photos. She agreed and provided them. I received 2 photos of the undercarriage with clearly visible scratches and a possibly bent support attachment for an armor plate. It was difficult to determine the precise damage from the 2 photos. I suspected the muffler, catalytic converter and possibly other portions of the exhaust system were damaged while the former owner was offroading. Clearly the Toyota dealer had done some repairs. I requested the repair work orders and parts receipts. I was told they would be sent. They never provided them. Several people from the dealership sent me emails and each time I confirmed I was awaiting the repair orders. Suddenly they ceased contacting me. Clearly they knew there was undercarriage damage which Toyota of Clovis had repaired. The damage was significant enough to require a smog test. However, they attempted to deceive me and YOU by citing a clear Carfax and going silent regarding the repairs. If this doesn't deter you from ever purchasing either a new or used vehicle you should have your head examined.

Another time, I brought my car in for a detail after the interior had been heavily soiled. The team went above and beyond by removing the seats to thoroughly clean everything underneath, and they didn't charge me anything extra for the additional work. Jacob went above and beyond--he confirmed the engine failure was due to the recall and got everything moving quickly. We wandered the lot for a good long time, looking at various SUVs although everything was locked and we couldn't get a good look at anything. We were expecting a sales person to approach us, but we were totally ignored. For a long time. Finally we thought, "Maybe we have to go inside?" So we went inside where various employees were. We looked at the cars indoors. No one greeted us, no one approached us. I made eye contact with a guy who was just sitting alone in his glass office. Nope he ignored us too. It was weird. What am I supposed to do? Walk into the guy's office and say hey? So we left. It was bizarre. I've never had an experience like that at a car dealership. Then soon after, I reached out to Costco's car buying program to see if we could save a few dollars that way. I learned that Future Kia was part of the program. Costco said someone from Future Kia would be in touch. Sure enough, someone emailed us and asked us to come in. I replied sure, but I'd like to see the Costco prices first, please. Ghosted. No reply. It's been a couple more days. You know, I could have mentioned, "Yeah we already came in and wandered around for a good 20-30 minutes and were ignored by everyone there, so we don't want to waste our time again -- we just would like the price list that Costco says you're supposed to give us," but I didn't want to seem rude. But it's true -- we already went all the way over to Clovis and wasted our time. Now we want the Costco price list and are being ignored some more. I guess a Kia is not in our future, and that's fine: we usually buy Toyotas, and that's what we'll probably do again. People at Toyota will walk over and greet you and tell you about the cars -- even though they don't have anything on the lot to sell you.

The cold weather had caused the battery in my Tahoe to fail - sending the car into a stall while displaying weird error messages...it was 11am, pouring down rain and I desperately needed the car for important meetings the next day. My first call to a Chevy Dealer let me know that they could not even look at my Tahoe until the next day - not even for a quick diagnosis. By contrast, the service manager at Hedricks approved a diagnostic check the same day - which showed that it was all battery related. Within 2 hours, working with Julian, my car had a new battery and I was on my way. Some dealers provide service - while others epitomize the spirit of service. They did not even pump the gas for me, it was low on empty! Not even a month later when I purchased a car from them, my car over heated. They were nice enough to fix it, but it was only for a temporary fix, because the problem started occurring again. If you want a honest car dealership, I advice you NOT to shop here! You might get lucky and get a decent car if the previous owner took cared of their vehicle, but other than that, good luck.
