I went in for a 2001 Toyota Sequoia. Dayra - The girl that answers the phone told me that they encourage third party inspections. Hence, I had the car checked out by Toyota - Glendale (I Paid 115$ fee). They dropped off the car around 1 PM and the car was done inspecting around 6 PM since I told them to check the frame/engine and all other major components. Henry (one of the best service guy at the Toyota dealership) told me that the car needs a new timing belt, water pump, battery and "D" shift light. The cost of the entire service was estimated around $1200 from the dealership. However, the car was in a good condition therefore I decided to buy the car. I knew before going to the dealership that they do not bargain but they also mentioned on their AD that the car was in "IMMACULATE CONDITION" which it was not due to the service issues. Politely, I requested Dayra and Mike(Owner) to either drop down the price or at least offer some service towards the car. They declined to help either way and told me the car will be 12800$ out the door. Furthermore, when I was explaining the results from Toyota Dealership; Mike kept interrupting me and sarcastically questioned the credibility of Toyota Glendale Dealership's service department. He couldn't digest the fact that they checked the entire car in few hours. I think he thought it should take them more than few hours to check the car thoroughly. Remember! MDK tells you to get the car inspected from a third party and afterwards they don't agree with the third party results.
I told Mike, that this car has been available for sale for almost 3 weeks or so and it says on your website that you guys sell in volume therefore I know you would like to sell the car asap. I asked him if he could either budge a bit from the asking price or help me with the required services than I will buy the car the same day. He mumbled " That's none of your business".
Even after being treated like crap, I still thought that its a good car and I need that car asap so let me just fill out the finance papers. After filling out a credit union form, I asked Darya so do we have a deal? Are you guys going to save this car for me? Which of course nobody has bought till now!! And she responded "we cant wait for more than couple days so if the credit application takes longer than I don't know".
My reaction was like "WOW!" Are these the people that I am going to give 12,800$?? I left from the dealership unhappy, disrespected and tired.
In a nutshell, these are bunch of people who don't care about other people, they have no idea on how to talk to customers or how to treat people. Yes, they list the cars at a competitive price but the cars have enough service issues that at the end price comes out same as other (better) dealerships. However, in terms of customer service they have no clue. At a point they were pushing me to either buy the car or leave the office because it was their closing time.
To reiterate, THESE PEOPLE DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS! I wasted my time, money and energy for a crappy dealership like MDK. They are false advertising about their financing and the condition of their cars.
Luckily, we have FTC, Consumer Complaint Beaurea, BBB, several trade publications and other complaint bureaus where we can report bad businesses.
Don't get me wrong, I am not angry because they did not negotiate. I am mad because the way Darya and Mike talked to us. It was utterly rude, disrespectful and arrogance. In a way I feel sad for these people because sooner or later they will run out of business by disrespecting their clients.
Mike and Darya, I will make sure I do not recommend any of my friends to MDK. I know your ego and arrogance will make you think "Who cares?" But remember Karma read more
