Located in downtown Exeter, the bakery is roomy and clean. Basic cafe atmosphere with some dishes but mainly sandwiches, pastries and coffee/tea. The food is good though it can be pricey depending on what you order and the portions weren't that big. The coffee and latte was decent and the service was good and relatively friendly. Me & Ollie's is a fun place to go for Breakfast or Lunch. Lots of baked goods and sandwiches. If you want a breakfast with eggs, waffles, or pancakes, this isn't what you're looking for. But if a breakfast sandwich or a danish is how you want to start your day, this will do nicely. Coffee's pretty good too. For lunch there are lots of paninis and other sandwiches. Big windows (I think it used to be a 7-11) let in lots of light, and there are places for little kids to play. read more

Me and Ollies is my go to spot for working from home out of my house. I am a regular here during the week for breakfast. Their oatmeal is among my favorite quick breakfasts in town. I believe they use their homemade granola in it, and the flavor is delicious. I am also a big fan of their iced coffee with pumpkin syrup for fall currently. The space is really well set up and a great spot to work, study, chat etc. Lunch is more of a mixed bag. I've had some good sandwiches and some ok ones. For me, the Green Bean up the road is more consistent in terms of sandwiches and hot food, but tends to be less of an ideal spot to work or even chat when they are busy. I also consistently have issues with them getting basic requests wrong. Think: Requesting a sandwich on sourdough vs. wheat and getting wheat etc. Solidly middle of the road for food and beverages, and top of the line for getting work done! read more

AWFUL! I avoid Me & Ollie's at all costs. Please go to the Green Bean across the street instead. The food and coffee is subpar but the real zinger about this place is how dirty it is. There are flies everywhere! I am a local and have been to every café/restaurant downtown and none of them have this problem. There are also ratty old couches that have a bunch of holes and bugs in them. I wouldn't be surprised if there were mice living in them. The service is also awful. I don't know if these two women are still working there (one is an older woman with brown hair and the other is a young Asian woman with dark hair), but after waiting over half and hour for my coffee drink I went to inquire about it and they proceeded to accuse me of STEALING it and trying to scam them out of another one. The second woman said it was "shady" that I was claiming I had never gotten my drink. I was about ready to call the police when the manager finally came and held them off. Horrible establishment that needs a health inspection. read more

This is still a convenient place to meet clients, but they should not have such a big fly problem in December after all of these cold snaps. This place is really friendly and totally appropriate for the stroller crowd - there is a nice kids menu, a kids table next to large chalkboard, and some books and board games. Back again! It's been a few months now. Had the Italian sandwich. It was really tastey. Others had the Roasted Chicken & Feta Wrap and Tomatoe & Feta soup. All reported it was really good. You just can't miss with the food here. Customer service was great. I ordered the wrong coffee, went back to counter and got the correct coffee, no questions asked. My boy ordered just a jelly vice PBJ sandwich. The guy behind the counter called me over and inquired if the person who ordered this had a peanut allergy. He doesn't, but it was great he checked. I frequent Me and Ollies almost every day for my morning coffee. I will occasionally pick up a muffin or an egg sandwich, both of which I enjoy. My one damning complaint? THE FLIES. They are everywhere. It is really quite disgusting. I can't sit down for longer than a minute without being bothered by one buzzing around my food. The restaurant isn't that clean in general. There is alway food on the floor and who knows the last time any of the couches were cleaned. I hope the management team sees this review and does something about it if they're still interested in my business. read more

As a work from home professional Me & Ollie's used to offer a good escape from my home office but until they resolve their fly issue they have lost me as a customer. The flies are DISGUSTING and so distracting. I counted 12 flies that I personally killed with a rolled up magazine in the course of two hours. As if the flies *both black and fruit flies - weren't enough to kill your appetite the food has gone downhill. I ordered a cup of soup and a panini and both were barely edible. The panini was drowning in sauce causing the bread to instantly go soggy and the soup was like a bowl of chunky ketchup. When I informed the staff of the dead flies that needed to be cleaned up their response was "yea we are aware we have flies" - not a very proactive or customer friendly response in my opinion. Leaving a restaurant feeling like you need to go shower after being so grossed out is about as bad as it gets! read more

The coffee is never hot, it's always lukewarm even when though they make it right in front of you. It leaves a film in your mouth, kinda like when you eat a whole bucket of cheese balls. Sandwiches are always greasy. I do have to say I like the couches, just because they look like they've been sitting outside in the rain for weeks..it feels very artsy to me. Have had terrible service where the folks behind the counter are gabbing and there is a line of at least 3 people (more than once), have had stale pasteries (more than once). Nothing at all outstanding which differentiates it from their nearby competitors which would in any way entice me to go back. I don't understand how it is still in business. read more

Worst bowl of oatmeal I've ever had! "Real oats" they said. Great, but it helps to cook them first! They served raw oats in a paper cup with warm water. They told me to let it sit, which I did. 10 minutes later, water was lukewarm and oats were still raw and chewy. I thought it was impossible to make a bad bowl of oatmeal, but these guys managed it. was recently in the ME&Oliies in Exeter for a morning meeting and was struck by the preponderance of flies landing on the pastry trays that house the normally appetizing cookies, muffins, bagels, and jolly ollies. Flies by the window I was sitting at were distracting and sort of gross. Was also struck by the lack of help, long line and only two workers one to make food and one to work the register and make the hot drinks....please put one more person on the line to help out!? Their online menu is down for maintenance and the girl who rang me up told me to take a picture of the menu boards with my phone if I wanted a new one???? Food here is actually decent. The reason for two stars is the indoor air quality. HVAC is important and this place has it all wrong. No air circulation whatsoever. Super egg sandwiches. I particularly enjoy the Greek on sourdough but the bagel is very good too, which features artichokes, and though I am not vegetarian, this sandwich stacks up to any meat offering. Service is overall very good. The vibe has changed over the past year for the better. The music is not too loud. The equipment seems a bit outdated creating probably slower coffee service than they want, but on the other hand part of their charm is it does not feel all swank and high tech. Love the storyboard of how it all started. Also nice to have refills if one uses a mug. Very home spun. read more

Not a good first impression. I have lived in Exeter for a few years and finally decided to try this place. I entered around 2pm so it was fairly busy but nothing overwhelming. I ordered 2 sandwiches to go and waited about 15 minutes for my order to be ready. When I got home I realized they only gave me half of my order so I called and let them know, they said no problem and to come on back. Upon arriving, I greeted a quite hostile woman, the only blonde employee working and unfortunately she was EXTREMETLY rude and complaining behind the corner of how many customers were in there. When I asked for my order she said it was be another 15 minutes because she had other customers to wait on. I explained that my sandwich should have been sitting there ready for me to pick up, but no. They never made the second half of my order to begin with because this woman was too busy complaining about serving customers. Every other employee was an absolute DELIGHT! IF I return and the blonde woman is working I am turning right around and leaving! read more

It's sad that this once thriving chain of sandwich shops has become a footnote in the history book of local eateries. My wife and I went to the Exeter location in Saturday and each ordered sandwiches. We were told that it would be a 15 minute wait, which we appreciated being made aware of before we ordered. There were 5 employees on duty (1:30pm) and the place was about 60% full with most of the people sitting waiting for their orders. Our order came within the 15 minutes, but the sandwiches were REALLY REALLY pathetic. I got the BLT and I must say it was the worst BLT I have ever been served in my 51 years on this planet! It was a joke indeed. My wife ordered the 3 cheese and tomato panini which was equally pathetic and barely toasted. We have been fans of this company for many many years, but will NEVER again risk wasting our time or money with them. Sad really; they had a valuable brand at one time, but have totally taken their eye off the ball. read more
