New to the area went to Ace Hardware to buy a weed eater. The lady working at the front counter greeted us like we've known her for years. Employees asked us if we needed help and made sure we found everything we needed. This Ace was unique from others that I've visited due to the small town atmosphere feel and I saw items in there that you won't typically find in other Ace Hardwares! Prices were comparable to the big box stores and some items were cheaper there. Great atmosphere will continue to shop there! Check it out! read more

What a wonderful Hardware store! It's so handy to have it right in downtown Meadow Vista. They always seem to have what I'm (Paul)looking for, and it saves me a trip to Auburn. I (Pam) find all sorts of things I need there. Today is Labor Day and I'm out of Black Oil Sunflower seeds to feed my wild birds. They're actually open today. David, the newer owner, is NOT A MISERABLE PERSON, as one yelp subscriber stated. He is extremely customer oriented and helpful (and I'm not related!!) I try to shop locally as much as possible (instead of giving my business to the "big store" in Auburn. This local store constantly meets my needs and the owner and staff are great there. Keith, who works there, is extremely knowledgeable and has come up with numerous "out of the box" ideas for creative solutions to problems I've shown up with. I cannot recommend them more! read more

Why would anyone need to go anywhere else. This place has everything. The owner is super friendly, he also drives a really cool old school car. It's nice to have good businesses with people who care about running their store well. You can also rent tools there if you didn't know. If you're like me and not very handy with tools they will hook you up with knowledge and show you how to use them. read more

I don't what the other poster means. I love the Meadow Vista True Value. They aren't a lumber store, drive up or down the hill for that. I've compared prices with the big boxes, and when you figure the gas and time saved True Value wins out. Though they don't carry everything that HD does, they carry more than enough. Mike is a character, but knows his stuff. They've done special orders for us, helped us figure things out, rent tools (cheaper than HD sometimes) and are just plain helpful. We shop local when we can and you should too! Also a nice place to have a chat with your neighbors. read more

It saves me a gallon of gas and lots of time going to this well stocked hardware store. They even ordered me a tub re-finishing kit! .Had a not so nice experience with a guy who is a former employee over loading my propane tank! But the owner has helped me since!! For a small, local business, this place ROCKS!! They are always so knowledgeable and helpful, don't even need to ask for help, but when I do, they always point me in the right direction or take me there themselves! They may not have everything, but they have a darn good selection, and I figure, if they don't have it, I probably don't really need it, or can wait to get it later. :) One tip, GREAT prices on healthy dog/cat food. We moved to Meadow Vista about a month ago and the hardware store was one of our first stops. They had everything we were looking for - we even picked up a fishing pole and dog nail clippers. Every small town needs a hardware store. Perhaps things have changed since 2008, but it doesn't appear this store is trying to compete with the bigger stores. Their niche is having the essentials so you can pick up one item, say weed eater line, without driving down the hill. read more

The new owner is either a miserable person (man...wife is nice) or not making any money and that's making him mad. He never says hello and always looks grumpy. The nice guy working there is very pleasant but the NEW OWNER is terribly unfriendly.
