They get a four star bump here because they officially have the best Mac and cheese I've ever tasted! It was so good that I question whether mortal hands made it. The cheese was creamy, the jalapeños just hinting of spice, and the salty overtones just perfect. Whichever Ancient Greek god brought fire to humans may very well have conjured this from the depths and bestowed it for our amusement! Enough discussion of the ancients, this place is about meat! The meats here are a bit more expensive than the other spot we hit (Hard 8 BBQ), but continued the theme of purchasing by the pound (I'd be super valuable that way!). Three of us sampled 4 half pounds -and a half chicken - with plans for leftovers for the next day. The brisket and pulled pork were both excellent with lots of flavor and plenty of juice. The sausage came in German and Jalapeño cheese flavors. The German was just okay with half of it dried out and half appropriately done. The jalapeño cheese was very good! They were out of all steak cuts and all ribs when we came at about 7 on a Friday - they did have salmon which looked good. The sauces came in regular and spicy - the spicy was phenomenal! Not to hot, but very good flavor. Sides consisted of creamed corn (solid), beans (pretty good), Mac 'n cheese (Olympian level) and some rolls (mediocre). The folks up front were very kind and friendly, while the lady who was bussing tables had probably had better days. Didn't ruin the meal, but asking for a to go container seemed like a pretty big imposition. C'est la vie! All said, the meat was good, the Mac 'n Cheese seriously legendary (this from a guy who loves his cheesy carbs!) and the service mostly good. It wasn't mind blowing BBQ, but it was solid BBQ. Upon arrival in Dallas we asked the hotel receptionist for a good local BBQ restaurant and Meat U Anywhere was the recommendation and so glad she did. It is a smaller BBQ restaurant but most definitely not small on flavor. They have limited parking so going during non prime times might be a recommendation. The Brisket is absolutely amazing, super tender and amazing flavor. The same can be said for the sausages they offer. I ordered the Brisket sandwich with Jalapeño Mac & Cheese and pickles. There is no need to go anywhere else, as long as they have what you want. Admittedly, their menu is limited - but what they have eclipses any else's product - especially on Fridays and Saturdays. Why those days? On Fridays and Saturdays, they feature what they identify as "prime meats" and boy, are they ever! Smoked prime rib. Flawlessly cooked and flavored and they are VERY good about slicing either lean (ewe) or fatty (yay) pieces, any thickness that you specify. Their CHUCK beef ribs ... if you can find a better bite in the DFW, please let me know where - because I can't. If you can score their smoked salmon (a prime meat) - grab it. Their ham is second to none. Who needs honey baked scram? Their bbq sauces are ... good(?) Fortunately, their meat is so tender and juicy, I don't know that you need much. I did not see this coming. Friend of mine randomly took me here because I was complaining how all the brisket in Dallas was dry compared to what I got in Austin. We visited at a random time on a Saturday and the place was packed to the gills. From the operation I could see them running, it made be a bit skeptical. Stacks of bbq sauce at the door, selling other paraphernalia about the place, and rows of workers slinging meats & sides... it all seemed a little too orchestrated. Well, what I misinterpreted as streamlined commercialization was actually a well oiled machine serving up some of the best BBQ (including the juicy brisket) I have eaten, anywhere. I spied there pit out back, unfortunately the pit master was too busy to give a tour, we showed up in the middle of turning briskets and they were down a person. Regardless, we couldn't wait and dug into the juicy, perfectly seasoned, tasty AF brisket before heading back to his place where we had a group of friends waiting for us. Had lunch there today with my son. We shared the ribs, jalapeño sausage and the smoked beef tenderloin. Ranked from the very best down: ribs...well-smoked, well-seasoned (dry) and fall-off-the-bone tender!! A full rack = 6 ribs. Next, tenderloin. This meat is amazing, but maybe just a bit dry. I suppose that's why brisket is so popular...the extra fat assures tenderness/flavor/ tenderness. Tenderloin was very good, but not great. The sausage was also good, but not great....very cheesey. The cowboy beans and bacon/green chili Mac-n-cheese were good sides. They're ordering / serving line is a little slow and clunky, but not that bad. Hands down this place has some of the BEST bbq in dfw especially the brisket. I scarfed my food down to fast to get a picture but this place will definitely be on my monthly rotation. The customer service was awesome & the establishment was very clean and it comes highly recommended. It's not very big on the inside and appears to only hold about 15-20 people. The brisket is said to be the best in Dallas area and I can't disagree. It's sold priced by the pound, on a sandwich or on tacos. A few different types of your classic sides are available as well as ribs, smoked turkey, pulled pork and some sausage. I tried the brisket, scrambled egg and cheese tacos and holy moly were they amazing. Best taco I have ever had and it was a breakfast taco! Right before I got on the plane from Connecticut to Texas, well, the night before (and I left EARLY the following morning, so I'm sticking with "right before" in spirit) one of the chefs I work with impressed upon me the importance of the opportunity to eat good BBQ while down in Texas. The amazing brisket sandwich I had at Meat U, was soft yet flavorful, hints of smoke and caramelized, just-burnt ends, in harmony with tangy, spicy house-made BBQ sauce, was the trip to flavor heaven one imagines when they close their eyes, and think, "Texas." Well, maybe not in the imagination of a vegetarian. My cat probably thinks he could take down a cow (spoiler alert: he cannot) and just like him, I probably thought I could eat a whole brisket sandwich, potato salad, and slices of jalapeno-cheddar sausage. Stopped here after reading all of the Yelp reviews. I am actually in agreement that the breakfast tacos are excellent! My disappointment came with the brisket. There was no bark on the outside and no real flavor permeating the meat. I will say that it was quite tender, but very lacking in flavor. I also tried the tenderloin and it too was very tender but had no tasted seasoning. I wrapped up with the jalapeño sausage which was fine, but pales in comparison to some other Texas BBQ joints. My last fuss is something that I have just come to expect which is pickles/onions/jalapeños to be available. They may have had them but none were offered. This place is more than good enough for a standard BBQ experience, but when measured against the rest of the top tier options in the area and state, it falls short of contention. read more
