After a quick recent Yelp search this place kept popping up as number 1 in the area so I broke down and tried the restaurant again. It was nearly a completely different experience! The pita bread is probably the best I've ever had. The portion size has much improved. The mix & match plate options are more balanced. I love I can order a LARGE tabouli salad! The garlicky potatoes have always been delightful. They packed all of the things I paid for and curbside was literally instant. I WILL return many times if this restaurant keeps up these new changes. A friend of mine was posting this spot heavy the past few months. I was in the area & before heading back home, my partner & I wanted to order some food & Meddy's popped up. I went with the Falafel Shawarma (when it comes to Mediterranean food & it's my first time visiting, I usually try their Falafel before I try anything else). They have a lot to choose from because I almost went with a couple of other things (that I'll come back for). Their falafel consists of: "Garbanzo and fava beans blended with spices and fried until crispy" along with tahini & pickled turnips being on deck. I enjoyed the falafel in each bite. I'd ask for extra tahini next time (speaking of which... I just found out you can buy their sauces bottled at 8 & 12oz). The spices were subtle. I didn't have a big appetite to the point I didn't get a side, if I had space for one, I would've ordered the garlic potatoes, house rice or lentil soup. Kinda grossed out by the guy at the register where you order before you seat yourself: he had a huge fresh tattoo from elbow to wrist that was red and irritated and smeared with some transparent ointment. If he'd have brought out my food I would have demanded refund and left. Had the "lambaa" wrap. Expensive at $13 with no sides and it was small. It did taste ok but was light on flavor. The gratis small warm pita served when you sit down was very nice with the zatar (sp?) seasoning and olive oil on every table. It was the high point of the visit. I understand this is a franchise operation but don't diminish their offerings by using the term "chain". As an experienced Mediterranean diner I found everything we tried to be top notch. This location is in a shared plaza with several restaurants but limited parking. We did circle the plaza and found a spot but others in our group had to park offsite. When you walk in - you order at the counter right away and are handed your drink and number. There are lots of seating options including a covered patio area which was quieter than inside. There was definote space for various sized groups. The service was really good, we had multiple people stop by for drink refills, dropping off pita bread for the table and making sure we had everything we needed. The food was good. I appreciated that there was a gluten free bread option, not something you see at Mediterranean places. I really enjoyed the lentil soup, it was hearty and had good flavor. Get you seat then a bar drink as it's super busy. One food arrives there are multiple staff walking around to meet you needs. I have seen Meddys in Kansas when visiting my brother up there. No wonder when I first saw it, I thought I've seen it before. It's in the Shops at Warren Place which is the perfect location for any restaurant. My understanding is it's not a franchise although it has many locations. The restaurant looks so beautiful and upscale. The service is impeccable, even for takeout. I love the outside seating area, warm and cozy thanks to the heaters. I'm terms of food, not my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in town. I feel like the value is not as high compared to some local Mediterranean restaurants. For example, the Big Bowls didn't really have a lot of food and the beef kafta was a little dry. To me, some local Mediterranean restaurants have better beef kafta. I would come back to Meddys for the great ambiance, but not so much for the food. The first time we visited Meddys I think they had an odd night. Everything was so unbelievably salty I said we would never go back. Well, we got invited back with some friends to sit in the patio so all the kids could play on the green space. The second time back was absolutely magical. The food was perfection. Flavors on point, huge portions, perfectly cooked and seasoned mixed veg. I honestly can't wait to go back. I also didn't realize they will bring you as many soft delicious pitas with olive oil as you want. And kids meals are $2. For real. You can get one as an adult for $5 which I would totally do next time. Only complaints: why the tvs everywhere? Let's get rid of the single use plastic straws. Too much waste; microplastics are real. It's freezing inside. Like, make sure you bring a coat. When we ate inside the first time I couldn't wait to get out of there, and I don't get cold easily, I'm usually too warm. We tried a new dish tonight from Meddy's. Again, we were not disappointed! Hubby got his usual main platter with chicken. I tried the Fancy Falafel dish. I was so happy with it...delicious Mediterranean salad and hummus with delicious falafel! The Spanish eggplant was a treat I have been wanting to try. He went above and beyond--breaking down the menu, explaining the drinks with such clarity and enthusiasm, and making sure we felt completely taken care of. When the food arrived--wow. Just wow.
