A friend told me that Meddy's is a 'must try' because of all of the gluten free options. WHAT A GREAT FRIEND! The person taking my order was kind and explained that the gluten free food is cooked on a different grill than the gluten items. I ordered the Meddy's Main Plate with chicken and garlicky potatoes. He went above and beyond--breaking down the menu, explaining the drinks with such clarity and enthusiasm, and making sure we felt completely taken care of. When the food arrived--wow. Just wow. I'd been hearing good things about the food here, and now that I've tried it, I understand the hype. I had the Bangin' Beef Shawarma and a side of hummus with both pita and chips. My husband had the same, but his side was garlicky potatoes. I don't pretend to be an expert on authentic Mediterranean food, so I can't speak to that, but I can say the the flavors were delicious! The beef was warm and well-seasoned, the potatoes were nicely crispped on the outside with a light garlic flavor, the hummus tasted fresh- very smooth and mild with a few whole chick peas, and the pita was warm and soft and the superior dipping vessel compared to the pita chips. The chips were hit or miss because they are served right up against the hummus. Some were crisp, and others were tough and chewy. I'd skip those next time. The service was friendly, but be ready to order at a counter. They do have a QR code for their menu, so you could step aside if you want more time to peruse before ordering rather than stand at the register looking up at the posted menu while the line grows behind you. As a first time visitor, the extra time was appreciated. The inside of the restaurant is modern, but warm. There are both tables and booths. We opted for the back patio even though it was chilly outside. There are large overhead heaters, so we didn't mind the chill. I will say that is was very loud inside- that's part of our choice to sit outside. We could hardly hear each other indoors.
