The portions are very generous, they did not skimp on the meat for my gyro or the side of tabbouleh I picked for a bit of roughage. My gyro + side + drink combo could've been enough for 2 people, especially if you added one more side. Very reasonably priced ($7.99 gyro, $10.99 for combo), especially compared to other places in Orlando. Although nothing will probably ever beat my college gyro place that had them for $5, that was over a decade ago now, not to mention across the country. This is an authentic AF Greek restaurant. The gyro is seasoned perfectly and is moist still with crispy edges-- not dry! The tzatziki sauce is thick and to die for. The tabouli salad and hummus are FRESH and perfect in every way as well. The service is above and beyond with many smiles and pleasantries. Portions are LARGE so don't go crazy. The meditarrian deli is a family own business where you are kindly greeted by members of the family when you first walk into the establishment. I have been here twice now. The first time I ordered a gyro and the second time I ordered their open face dish. Both times that I have gone here I have been very satisfied with the quick service and the delicious food. The salads are very fresh tasting and the meat is very tenderdized. I will say this place is more catered towards to-go orders rather than a sit down facility making it the perfect spot if you are picking up lunch or want to grab dinner and eat at home. Although they do have indoor seating, the interior of this resurant could use some astheic detailing, but I wouldnt let that be the sole factor behind not eating here as the foos is amazing. I'm going to be bold and go as far to declare this the best gyro I've had. The place is an unassuming hole in the wall easily missable from the main road, but the food is anything but ordinary. For $8 I was able to get a gyro sandwich, one of any of their Greek sides, and a drink. For the amount of the food they gave me, I consider that a steal. They splice the meat right off the rotating skewer and grill it so that it's steaming hot. They also grill the pita. (To me the pita can make or break a good gyro, and this pita was so soft and tender.) The sandwich is stuffed with gyro meat, lettuce, tomato, and onion (at our request) along with a generous amount of freshly made tzatziki sauce. I could barely keep my gyro together, that's how much stuff it contained, which is how it should be. Word of advice: keep it in the foil whIle you eat. The meat was seasoned perfectly, a nice slightly peppery quality, and the tzatziki had a subtle hint of mint to bring the right amount of balance and freshness. So I'm making my way through the alleged best restaurants in Orlando, based on the votes of the readers of Orlando Weekly, because I want to taste the best of the best in my city. This place was the 1st runner up for Best Middle Eastern Restaurant. So I had to come check it out. I got some take-out on my way home from work one Friday night, and I was not disappointed. I want to start off by saying that this place gave me hands down the best gyro I've had since I went to Tarpon Springs many years ago. The meat was so flavorful and not-dry. There was not a ton of tzatziki sauce, tomato, or onion in there, but that was ok. There was just enough to get those flavors and enjoy this meat-stuffed gyro. I literally got hearts in my eyes while eating this. I had the seafood salad as a side here. Lots of shells and lots of fake crab flavor. Solid side item. My favorite from here, actually. I also got the falafel. Don't share your falafel with anyone, because they're too delicious, and there are too few of them for sharing. Not sure if there were any fava beans within, but the chickpea flavor was good, and they again were not dry. In love. I got a Greek salad on the side, meh. And I got a heaping scoop of hummus on the side as well. I love hummus. And it's super duper creamy here, so if you don't like it very creamy, avoid the hummus here. I actually ordered another side of pitas to dip in my hummus. So good. The final main thing I got was the spinach pie. A giant slice. Creamy spinach filling inside and a flakey, crispy crust outside. Very good. I think it automatically came with a side of tzatziki, which was good, because I could dip everything in there. And I had pasta salad as a side. Also meh. I mean, their sides were good, but the seafood salad and the hummus were just obviously the best. I finished my meal off with a slice of baklava. And my God, this was some great baklava. The phyllo dough was super flakey, which is always fun, and there was a thickkk slathering of filling with giant hunks of nuts in there. This baklava was made with TLC, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall, I'm so glad I found this hidden gem. Great portions at a great price with a great flavor. If you're reading this, I implore you to come here. read more

Mediterranean Deli is a bit of a drive for me. Every time I make that drive, I worry... will it live up to the mythic status I've built for it in my head, or will I be disappointed? Yet, somehow, every time I go, my already-high expectations are blown away. Not only is the food consistently fantastic (a primarily-Greek-inspired cuisine with some Turkish and Italian influences), but it's always prepared by the owner and head chef, Ali, who just so happens to be one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. He'll greet you with a catchphrase "hello my friend" whenever you walk in, and you can tell he means it. The restaurant has seen some nice new improvements lately too; while it's quite a small space, it used to be a bit run down years ago, but now it's much more inviting, with a bright menu board and a cartoon Ali offering you a gyro. Which, on that note, the gyros are *amazing*. I also love the club wraps, but I've never had anything there I didn't like. I've been buying lunch here for more than a decade now. Even if the food wasn't perfect every time (it is!), I'd still be coming back regularly because I just want to see this family-owned restaurant continue to succeed in Orlando. They deserve it. We've passed past this place many times and I finally decided to stop in. We were greeted by the friendliest cook. A great way to be welcomed. We ordered the gyro and spinach pie. We planned on the gyro before entering, but the spinach pie looked delicious. We paid for the order at the register to a younger man. We asked for tap, he replied, "we have bottled water". I think his name was Curt. I didn't decide to get into the large amount of waste that is produced. Especially me, because I'll easily go through 6 bottles of water. So we went without a drink. We were saddened to see that they serve their orders on plastic plates at the tables. The register man served us our food and advised us that napkins and forks are at the register. So we walked back over there to see that they are plastic silverware. Not great for the environment, thankfully this is becoming less common elsewhere. The food was delicious though. The cook obviously puts passion and effort into his work. The yogurt was not our favorite. The gyro meat was great, and the sandwich was put together very nicely. The spinach pie tasted better than it looked, and it already looked great! All in all, we were very happy. Our favorite is still Olympia, but this place definitely is a great little Greek spot. I may not ever return, but if it I do, I'll definitely order the spinach pie again. Even though I might ask if I can sub out the tzaziki, which tasted like sour cream dill. So . . . I'm not usually a big Gyro fan. It's just not my go-to order. But I will agree with a lot of other people here and say this is the best gyro I've had. The meat is fabulous--well-spiced, well-cooked, and there was a lot of it. I also really quite liked the tzatziki sauce. It was more sour creamy and less spicy than many I have had--and I saw one person complained about this--but I loved it. The tabouli and salad were good. I liked the hummus a lot--it was a bit smoky--and my husband (who loved the gyro as well) thought it was a little bitter. Did we argue a bit over this? Maybe. Not really your business though. I liked the particular taste of this hummus quite a lot. The baklava was very good--8 out of 10 and I'm very picky about my baklava. Just a little bit over the bend and you arrive at Mediterranean Deli. Not exactly a deli per se, but more like a mom and pop's/hole on the wall joint (I actually think deli is a marketing plot to attract customers, and it works). This small restaurant serves the classic gyro, falafel, and salads of Middle Eastern shops. It reminds me more of Lebanese and Israeli restaurants than Mediterranean... I really don't know why it's listed under Greek... This gyro/shawarma and falafel shop is pretty small, with a few of chairs and tables, and lots of boxes around. While you order at the small counter, you can grab a bag of chips and a drink also. The food here is pretty good. I was expecting the more Mediterranean feel, but I am glad that it turned out to be more on the Middle Eastern side because I love exotic Middle Eastern food. My falafel sandwich was really good, and the gyro was well cooked also. It all goes well with the hot sauce sitting on the tables.
