My go-to spot for you gyros! The prices have gone up which is understandable. But the salads, food, service and portion is still on point. I do not mind that they don't do fries because they have other yummy side options. I got the gyro and salad and they allowed me to get a little of two salads since I couldn't decide. I've been buying Gyros from Walid for over 10 years now! I can't believe I just said that. I used to pass this hidden gem on my way to my old job, and would see the sign for Mediterranean food, and one day finally made the plunge. BOY AM I GLAD I DID! Nestled into a small strip mall, next to a barber and a "surveyor shop", you would never expect this place to make such incredible Mediterranean food. However, Walid (the owner) makes the BEST gyro I've ever had. They serve meals as a combo that includes choice of a side dish (Hummus, Greek salad, Taboule, Seafood salad, etc) and a drink (cans of soda, or bottled water). The interior is very small, but you will always feel welcome when you walk in (and be remembered!). It gets very busy at lunch time (as it should), so be prepared to wait in a small line- but the food is made right in front of you and comes out very quickly. Would have given this place 5 stars if they seasoned the Greek Salad not too salty and ambience should be updated.. Checked this deli out located at winterpark (non downtown) area. It is located at a plaza with a few other stores. The BEST time to come here to avoid lines and crowd is after 4pm SATURDAYS. I sampled the lamb and chicken to see what I wanted and of course I have never ate lamb in my life..The chicken and lamb was seasoned well and since lamb is a pricier meat I chose the lamb meat for the gyro's. The owner/cook was very friendly. I think that was his son that was the cashier this day. The owner asked if I am a new customer and he will make something for me that I will make sure I come back..lol He loaded the lamb meat onto the gyro with lettuce, onion and tomatoes.. I just wished he added more veggies (lettuce and tomatoes) along with that meat.. I noticed he ran out of tzatziki sauce so he took a white pail and used his gloved hands to scoop out the "sour cream/yogurt" condiment onto the steel container and added in whick look like "dill" herbs and used his gloved hands to mix the sauce. He then changed his gloves onto new ones.. I also noticed my lamb meat was carved and cooked in a panini cooker and was then served onto my pita. I saw him sliced 2 slices from the rotisserie after that to "finish off" the gyro.. Looking at the sides - it seemed like they were not freshly made..and that they were previously refigerated and placed on the steel containers. The Greek salad tasted salty but somewhat edible. The feta cheese was a little bit too stiff for my taste. Big chunks of feta, cucumber, tomatoes and olives..with banana peppers. The Gyro was HUGE! Filled with lamb meat and 2 slices of tomatoes with shredded lettuce and little bit of onions. Smothered in and out of the tzatziki sauce. The "meal" costs with tax $8.00 - $7.49 without tax. The meal consists of a huge gyro with choice of lamb or chkn, soda and side salad. NOW FOR THE LAMB; It tasted like "sausagey" to me. It has a distinct taste. Its very well seasoned and tender. Def good lamb meat. As far as the best gyro's this is my 1st time eating one and so far its not a disappointment! I will def come back if I have that gyro craving again due to the portion/size and customer service! read more

It's so funny because the first thing I heard when I walked in was a friendly "Hello, hello thank you for coming. How are you my friend? What would you like today brother". The worker (who I'm going to guess is the owner) is very friendly! He also behaves the same with his regular customers too so it's not just a front. Extra points for the friendly service! He was patient too because I didn't know what I wanted at first. Of course, I chose the Gyro with a salad and a drink for $6.99 (see picture). That's actually not a bad deal considering how much meat he stacked in there! He just kept on shaving more and more off that rotisserie lamb (see picture) with a sharp knife. The Gyro was amazing! It was really filling and hits the spot just right. I love how that tzatziki (white yogurt sauce) just covers everything and fuses the flavor together. Mmm... it was good. For the side and drink, I chose the Greek Salad with a Hawaiian Punch. The greek salad was ok though, definitely not the best I had. It tasted too salty but was still edible. Overall, awesome Gyro and great friendly service. This place would have been Orlando's hidden secret if it wasn't for Yelp. One of my favorite foods is the gyro. After reading the reviews on this place, I HAD to check it out. All the Yelp five star reviews are dead on. This place is great. It's a very small restaurant and seems homey. It was my first time there- the owner was very cheerful and welcoming, asking how we were and how our weekend was. He prepared the meal for us (the #5... gyro, a side salad, and a drink) and the gyro was definitely overflowing with lamb and veggies... I LOVE IT! Before he made the meal, he gave us a free sample of the Mediterranean roll, which was yummy. I might be getting that next time! This place is simple and straightforward with their food and it's FRESH! I haven't had a better gyro anywhere else, and their salad is very good on the side. I introduced my wife to Falafel and now she loves it! They are very generous with their portions so have an appetite. Their grape leaves were delicious and came with about 7 pieces. I had a gyro and my wife had the open face so she was able to build her own gyro. Most of the meals come with a free drink, so make sure you don't forget to grab a soda before leaving! There isn't much space for seating inside, so if you're dining in, let them know. But it would be best to take it home so you won't feel so trapped in the compact space. They may be the only business open in the tiny strip mall, but they're still in business for a reason! read more

The location isnt great, its a small run down shopping plaza and some how that made me feel like that was going to make this place that much better. I walked and immediately noticed the freshness of all the food. I ordered the chicken kebab with a side greek salad and a side of hummus, everything was super fresh and they also include a side of tzatziki. But 5 stars for an amazing hole in the wall experience with consistent friendly service and delicious food. It's in a plaza with stores that seem to open and close, but Mediterranean Deli is the only constant. There's only enough seating for maybe a dozen patrons, but the lines continue to stretch for all the to-go orders. The menu is simple and always cooked to order, which allows for the lines to move quickly. Open-faced gyro sandwich is my go-to. They top it with tons of gyro meat roasting on those rotating grills, that he cuts and grills again to get that perfect char flavor. The combos, you can pick 2 sides from all their salads: greek salad, tabbouleh, seafood salad, grape leaves, hummus... and it comes with a drink! The salads are made daily and they are not skimpy on the servings. My favorites being the seafood salad and their Greek salad with large chunks of feta. He also grills chicken for the chicken shwarma and they serve spinach pie made fresh daily. Eat everything with the tzatziki sauce! Best lunch value under $10. My only wish is they had a fryer to make french fries and to fry their falafels fresh. Such a good team working here and super personable. I feel like I am walking into their home for a meal. The gyros had no onion or tomato. The sauce had different spices than we're used to coming from Chicago. Salad had no dressing.

Good East Med Levantine fare. I believe this place is owned by a Lebanese or Syrian family. The tabouleh is fresh and lemony which I prefer. The hummus are excellent. I would say the falafel is decent certainly not greasy. Btw this is NOT Greek food. We decided to stop by for a quick snack. Servers were nice and food was prepared within minutes. Problem was that I found a strand of hair in my food. I don't have much hair, so that long brown strand was not mine. I felt sick seeing that. The servers both had short hair, so I have no idea how it got into my falafel. The hair broke trying to take it out, I'm assuming it was all up in the falafel. I'm not blaming the server. People just need to be careful when eating out at restaurants and check your food.
