Man I'm disappointed! I just moved to the area and this is the only Mediterranean restaurant in the area and the food was subpar. Also the owners were verbally reprimanding a new cashier who messed up my order in front of everybody very unprofessional. He forgot to charge me for rice with the vegetarian plate and I had asked him if it was included he said yes so when I didn't get my rice and I inquired about it then the owner had a fit wasn't going to give me the rice it was really silly and the rice wasn't even that good. It wasn't even basmati. Are we really arguing about a side of $.30 rice with no saffron and it isn't even basmati???? Don't be cheap and Petty please and to the cashier....find another job where you are respected. The menu I saw in restaurant said ALL entrees include pita rice and salad. Ridiculous. Owner said "I'll give you rice this time but next time I won't do it" HA! So presumptuous of you sir. I won't be back. Customer service is dead in America and I gave a tip beforehand!!!!!!! read more

Phenomenal. The thing I love about Mediterranean food is that they always give you a variety of side dishes to add on to your meal. Starting from service to food everything is was good. The main plates come with salad, but they were nice to let us substitute the salad for ganouj. They have a variety of food in their menu which is always a plus! We had the lamb shank plate, ganouj, dolma, and spanakopita. Everything was well made! The lamb shank plate had every little details from acidity to sweetness. The lamb could've had more meat but nevertheless it was good. The dolmas tasted good, if I had to improve it I would've served a fresher version where the rice isn't too hard. The spanakopita was crispy as well, it wasn't too sour or salty, just right! Rice was dry! Definite must try! read more

Place is a small restaurant that shares the building with 2 others. Parking is not going to be easy but we came on a quiet weekend. Came in because it's close to where we're supposed to be, stomach still half full because of a late lunch but BOY OH BOY i could not resist this food. The lamb shank is tender, juicy and so full of flavor. Rice is awesome. Dont ditch that red chilli.. i asked for extras because it's so good. The gyros was delicious as wel. We couldnt finish the whole food (also had some hummus which my daughter monopolized because it's so yumm yumm) so we brought the whole thing home. It's huuuuge. $14 for lamb shank plate, you can easily eat it 2x or share. And they're very generous with their salad, all veggies is fresh, crunchy and juicy. Dressing not too overpowering. Yum! Great tasting, well-executed sandwiches, entrees and sides. Super tender beef shish kabob is really delicious, and what an incredible value in a sandwich for only $5.95! Other reviewers have noted the great weekday lunch special. If I lived here, I'd be here once a week at least. Greek potatoes are delicious and garlic-flavored. Turkish coffee with its aroma of cardamom was a fun treat paired with a delicious piece of baklava. Sweet and unsweet tea both have a delicious Mediterranean flavor. The atmosphere is nothing special, but the delicious (and well-priced) food makes this place a winner. I am curious about their calamari, their lamb shanks, and lots more. Hadn't tried any Mediterranean food in town yet so I decided to give this place a shot. Had an issue with my online order for delivery and with my payment and both the person who answered the phone and the delivery driver were totally understanding. Large portion sizes, especially for the money. Baklava was fantastic, just wish it was a bit larger. Overall very happy with my order and will be getting Mediterranean food more often! read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!! As you can see my favourite is the Shish Kabob plate!! The steak is always so tender and flavorful!! The rice is always cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. Omg the hummus and falafel are mouth watering Sweet tea steeped with a little lemon and some extra little flavor is awesome!! I tried the vegetarian plate one and the bulgar mix in the Tabouleh salad just isn't for me. I hate I waited so long to try this place bc it's a winner for me and the staff is awesome!! read more

Go get the BUSINESS LUNCH SPECIAL. ( Monday-Friday 11 AM - 3 PM) A generous portion of Shish Kabob, Kufta Kabob, and Gyro slices, served with rice pilaf, Greek salad and pita. (Includes a fountain drink) I cannot believe it was my first time coming here. I came upon this place while searching for places to eat near Athens. I am so happy to find such an amazing place. I love Mediterranean food especially when the service is super fast, convenient, cheap, and DELICIOUS. I will definitely come back to try other foods!!!! This is the best Mediterranean food in Athens. The prices are not bad at all. You can easily split one of the platters and still have too much food. The steak is incredible and the gyro is great too. The rice, hummus, and pita are delicious too. The staff are supper nice and helpful, and didnt have any complaints waiting for us taking forever to decide what to order. read more

This is a precious little spot in Athens for me as I am a great fan of Middle-Eastern food and I have not found any place that does it better around Athens. The food is good. I've been to the restaurant and bought Groupons for it before. However, I had a terrible experience with their service and will likely never eat there again. I placed a takeout order that I planned to pay for with my most recently purchased Groupon. When I went to pick it up, they would not take my Groupon. It was expiring that day (so it was my last day to use it). I tried to explain this. The girl at the register brought over the manager, whom was rude and would not discuss the matter with me. He just kept telling me he wouldn't take the Groupon and didn't try to work out the issue, discuss it with me, or try to contact Groupon for support. I was very frustrated. And to make matters even worse, they didn't attempt to help any of the other customers who arrived after me. They let one gentleman behind me berate and harass me. This gentleman had only been waiting for like 30 seconds, so he was just a rude person in general, but it would have been good customer service for someone to take care of his order (or whatever he had come in for) and/or to discourage him from harassing me (as I was also a paying customer). I was feeling very flustered and attacked at this point so I just paid for my food and left. I wanted to call someone to complain, but wasn't sure who to call (if I called the restaurant again, I didn't want to have to talk to the same manager). I did call Groupon when I got home. The customer service rep confirmed that the restaurant should have taken my Groupon (as it was the expiration day, it was the last day I could use it). Groupon did a great job with customer service and fixing the issue. I have been telling everyone I know in the Athens area about this experience with this particular restaurant and will post reviews on other websites. I will not continue to support a restaurant that cares so little about their customers and makes them feel so disrespected. read more

The food here is awesome. They are going takeout and if your close enough to Baxter delivery. This is the best gyro in town. There Greek salad is awesome. I ordered a side of roasted potatoes. Excellent. There were three of us and we couldn't eat them all. The cooks were very nice. Sit in the back if you do not want to freeze. They package up everything great for take out. read more

I have tried this cafe twice now . The first time I was satisfied as I had ordered a gyro wrap. The second time I ordered the gyro plate. The plate was great , except for the rice. It really had to be Uncle Ben's minute rice. I also ordered the Greek Style potatoes and Like the rice , I was very disappointed. They where frozen fried potatoes. I decided to order a gyro with a side salad through Uber eats. Portions are big and even with a salad it's still a lot of food. The gyro was ok. It wasn't the best gyro I've eaten in my life, but it wasn't bad. It was just meh. The gyro itself is double wrapped, so once you take the tin foil off be careful! What I like about this place is that the food is consistently good. The baklava is excellent and just two bucks-- it is from the International Bakery in Atlanta. Came in for an early dinner and brought along my picky husband. I've been craving real Greek food and this was perfect. We were the only ones there, granted it was only 4:00. I ordered the falafel sandwich with Greek potatoes and my husband got the gyro plate. I also ordered pistachio balaclava. Our food came out fast and hot. I loved the falafel sand which. Nice crisp to the falafel and the flavoring was spot on. Fresh veggies on my sandwich and my husband's side salad. I loved the Greek potatoes and would even consider them the best I've had. The portions were huge, particularly the dinner plate which came with rice, pita, and a side salad. We also tried all three of their sauces and I'm in love with their hot sauce. I thought when we ordered it was just going to be Texas Pete or something, but it was more of a salsa. Spicy but flavorful. Wish I could buy a bottle of it! Just tried the Mediterranean grill on south Lumpkin for the first time today. I ordered the falafel pita with a Greek side salad. The food was absolutely phenomenal. The falafel was warm and proper fried and so well seasoned. The taziki dressing was PERFECT! The staff were all so welcoming and nice and the space was clean and had a happy atmosphere. Ordered greek salad with grilled chicken added. Paid $11 and some change. The grilled chicken is tough and burned in some places so it also doesn't taste good. Brown lettuce mixed in amongst the green lettuce - FAIL. Kalamata olives are not pitted - on a SALAD. Had to remove them so as to not break my teeth. Pita bread is dry and chewy and seems like it came from the local wal-mart bread section. This is my 3rd or 4th visit to Mediterranean grill. I have been disappointed every time and finally decided to write a review. If you are going to advertise your place as a "grill", I would think you would concentrate on perfecting your grilled items. Grilled chicken should be flavorful, juicy, tender and not burned. I can't see returning to this place. read more

Used to be one of my favorite athens restaurants but food quality has dropped. Also before if you paid a dollar more you would add potatoes to a lunch combo but now you just switch out the rice for potato's. Management must have changed. The meat doesn't taste as good either. read more

I was definitely not impressed. The salad had one half of a sliced tomato on it, and it was gritty and yuck, and one slice of cucumber. The dressing was mostly red wine vinegar, had no other flavor to it at all. The tzaziki had zero cucumber in it, and the gyro meat lacked flavor. I was super disappointed. read more

Not great. Server was not helpful or courteous and seemed annoyed when i didn't immediately know what i wanted. I got the falafel plate and was not satisfied. The salad was a box of lettuce with 1/2 a soggy tomato slice and 1 cucumber slice; dressing contained an overwhelming amount of pepper; the rice was bland and either under or over cooked, i couldn't tell. The pita was burnt around the edges and almost doughy in the middle. The hot sauce smelled a bit off, and the falafel was dry. The tzatziki was ok. it was 11$ which felt overpriced. I left sadder than i was when i came in and now i feel kind of sick :( read more
