The restaurant is clean and has a great vibe. The servers did their best. They were shorthanded. The food was good. I liked most of my meal. Not a big fan of the dessert. Of course, the food was not hot but it was warm. I don't understand the grits with the main course. It should have been dirty rice or if you are doing grits, pair it with shrimp or fish. As we are new to the area (less than 2 years) it hasn't easy to find both "great" food and "great" atmosphere. I happen to hear about this ale house and since it was close to home, we gave it a shot and boy we are happy we did. My husband ordered the steak and frites, medium well and it was flavorful. You could cut it with a spoon it was perfectly cooked. I ordered the smashed burger with fries and it was delicious as well. Service was top notch from greeting of the host to the bartenders who served us. Our bartender made me THE best espresso martini I ever had. We will definitely return and SOON! Well the location is in porterdale cute little downtown area going through revitalization. Georgia's famous yellow river is nearby. The restaurant is actually two put together a sports bar and a fine dining experience. The restaurant is huge and absolutely gorgeous inside . The service was horrible. We walked in the restaurant was and it was empty . No one came up and finally asked the bartender should we sit anywhere but he said no. So a waitress finally came and said sit anywhere. So we get seated and she walks away and does not leave us with a menu. As we are waiting to order we could hear the family at the other end complaining and sending the food back. We look at the menu and it is totally different from the website . I wanted Mediterranean food and there was nothing like that in the menu. We wind up order steak frites and a burger. The steak was supposed to have garlic AIOLI they brought us blue cheese dressing. The steak was not seasoned and tough cut for rib eye. Fries were cold . The aperol spritz tasted like water. Who ever was cooking did not even come to the table . They sent the poor young manager out this was so wrong ! Anywho they need to get it together. No pictures of food not necessary. read more

Great place! Well decorated and more of an upscale feel. We enjoy sitting at the bar when we go out. The bartenders were knowledgeable about the drinks and more importantly Bourbon. What a disappointment to eat here for dinner tonight. We've eaten here several times before (last time was summer of 2024). The prices were high, but the food was good. I don't mind that. Tonight, my husband and I ordered smash burgers. The bun was cold and hard, and the patties were dry. There were no caramelized onions and no pickles on the burger as was described in the menu. I didn't taste the special sauce, but the waiter said there was a thin layer on the bottom bun. It also described truffle fries as the side. When meal came out, I asked about the truffle fries, and he said they were out of truffle oil. It's sad to say, but we'll never be back. read more

The food was nothing extraordinary. The prices were extraordinarily expensive for the product and location, so the false impression was the menu MUST represent the items listed. I was wrong. However, we chose to go light with a couple of salads, appetizers and a small plate...the Truffle Mac & Cheese Pot Pie to share. My wife had the crostinis & fig relish, an Arugula and Beet salad for her and the pear and gorgonzola salad for me. My wife's salad was just right and not overdone with Balsamic; however my pear and gorgonzola salad was a lot of greens, small chunks of unpeeled, not quite ripe Anjou pear along with chunky gorgonzola cheese. The salad dressing was unremarkable but did nothing to join flavors with the heaviness of the cheese....and not enough large bites of a sweet ripe pear to bring it all together. The Goat Cheese and Fig Crostini was the least expensive item on the order and the most expensive being the Truffle Mac & Cheese Pot Pie for $28. There may have been a squirt of truffle oil on the tough to cut pastry, but that was about the only truffle infusion that I found in this dish. I found no "wild mushrooms" as in the menu description nor the hint of black truffle in the mix. The cheese and pasta was a bit less than hot and probably sat once dished up for as long as the two wines that sat on our end of the bar for 10 minutes. $100 plus gratuity. I have to agree with another reviewer....pick a style of music that goes along with the price range and hide the volume control as a room this large with a very tall ceiling can get very loud between customers and service noise plus "background music." I'm happy we gave the place a try. I had hope that Yellow Rive Ale House was going to be an exceptional evening. It's a tough business that depends quite a bit on return visits....especially when located semi-remotely. read more

I went here for my birthday since I live in Covington and didn't want to drive far. I had the spicy margarita and my husband had the old fashioned both were good. My steak was well seasoned. Now I will say this have I had better steak? Absolutely but have I had a better steak in Covington, no! This spot is beautiful for a nice date night and not super busy during the week. Had to send it back, it was just bourbon, water and ice. Told him to at least add some bitters. Order the Steak Frites, medium with fries. It looks good on the outside, parts were medium, others medium rare making it chewy and bubblegum texture. Fries were over cooked. These were something I would expect from a fast food place. Amazing first time visiting. Quiet early Saturday lunch allowed for me to roam the restaurant and fully check out the space. We sat in the front which is very sophisticated styling and chic for Porterdale. I love it! Stand out and raise the bar. The bar was excellent with my favorite being The Antidote. What a great place! A taste of the city right there in historic Porterdale. The food was excellent, I really enjoyed everything we ordered from the hummus to our basque cheese cake dessert. It feels a lot like a spot you'd find in the city, and prices match that. That being said, it's a great atmosphere, much closer if you're a local, and right next to the river. It made for a nice night out, and we even brought the kids. They have stage, so I'm guessing in the future there will be music too. If you love upscale Mediterranean food, you know what to expect, and YRAH delivers! We learned that acronym for the restaurant as it's featured in the menu. We had the brisket and really enjoyed the seasoning; it was well cooked too. The kids meals were worth a mention. We couldn't help but steal from their a plates a bit. I loved the look outside/in, it has more of an upscale feel than most places in the surrounding area. The staff were very friendly and the food was good and came out quickly. There were three small tables of people when we walked in and three waitresses. It took 10 minutes for a waitress to greet us and take our drink order (water). It took an additional 7 minutes for us to get our water, that is something we have rarely ever encountered at any establishment especially when a restaurant isn't busy. My burger did not come with the additional bacon I ordered, she forgot. I also asked for ketchup and our waitress never brought it. Yesterday (June 1st) was my first time at Yellow River Ale House. Please Note: Yellow River Ale House is a new restaurant in Porterdale. The restaurant is honestly breathtakingly stunning. It used to be a dark dinner club theater. Props to the interior designer! There's a stage for live entertainment, a nice bar, a sports bar in a separate area, and a main dining area. I even got a tour from the owner before they opened. He was very friendly. I ordered the lamb shoulder shawarma and it was a decent portion size. My bowl was filled with couscous, two different sauces (hummus and an orange colored sauce) red onions, and a decent sized lamb shoulder. I didn't really like the flavors all together. When I was about 60% done, I found a c shaped hair in my food. . I notified my server and the manager apologized and let me order something else. I then ordered the duo smashers (two mini cheeseburgers) and they were pretty good! I wouldn't say a 10/10, but a close 8. They redeemed themselves by making things right. However, I was upset about the hair in my food. I had been anticipating my visit to this restaurant. read more

The wife and I ate here and absolutely loved it. We got the hummus with lamb and the brisket. Both were absolutely amazing but the brisket was out of this world. Fell apart so easily, juicy, tender, and the flavors were nothing short of mind blowing. The atmosphere is a mix of high end fine dining with high end sports bar. I am glad to have Mediterranean food so close to home! I am experienced with Mediterranean cooking. I appreciate exploring the layers of spices and ingredients. I have enjoyed the food at the ale house. Many of the spices and foods have different names than Americans are used to, but the menu has been crafted to appeal to an American palette, with a little adventure tucked in. There are also items on the menu that are familiar-hamburgers and french fries . Yay! Chicken wings-yay! It's great to have a mixologist behind the bar-a little adventure there too. The atmosphere is bright but relaxed. I am an introvert so I like dark cozy corners in bars and restaurants which you will not find here, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that I have been quite comfortable. The colors are muted and beautiful, and the staff has always found me a little corner where I can tuck in and be at ease. There is a seating area outside which I plan to frequent in the spring and fall and cool evenings during the summer. I have found the flatbreads to be a wonderful and filling meal with a variety of interesting choices. This place is spacious. There is a separate sports bar and lots of screens. That's not my scene at all so I tend to go at times when it's quiet. But for the playful crowd, I should think that would be a lot of fun. read more

We ordered one of the most expensive things on the menu which was steak. When it came out, it was gray and you could tell by the consistency that it had previously been frozen. It was supposed to come with a salad which wasn't served until we reminded the server about it. When the salad did arrive, it was a handful of lettuce and half a tomato with no dressing. We had an amazing surprise party for my wife's birthday in August of 2024.Thanks to Marissa and all staff (directly involved or not!) this was an outstanding event; we had a great time. Marissa ensured everything was well planned and executed down to every detail I requested. The additional touches to the menu exclusively designed for my wife was the coup de grace. The food selections that we chose were a wonderful of array shared appetizers provided by Chef Eddie, and marvelous in presentation and taste. The variety was thoroughly enjoyed by the people in attendance. In addition, all who ordered additional menu items were wowed by everything they ordered as well as the cocktails! Our dedicated servers were very attentive to our party and made sure EVERYONE, especially the guest of honor felt special. We had eaten at this venue when it first opened and that was one of the reasons I chose it.
