I was reluctant on leaving a review but after thinking about how I value reviews, I had a swift change of heart. Our sweet girl was having difficulty breathing so we took her in to medvet on Sunday evening April 9, 2022. We had the most awful experience. Unfortunately the nurse or aid that we had contributed to our frustration. We were there at Medvet for hours before we were called to a room where we continued to wait before seeing the veterinarian. When I saw others that arrived after we did coming in and leaving I went to the desk and asked what was going on. When the Nurse/aide An... came into the room she was extremely rude. I asked her questions about our fur baby's health and this seemed to annoy her. With no answer, she proceeded to tell me that it could range in thousands of dollars for them to proceed further with their examination. I asked her again what had been done on our sweet girl already? She told me an exam and the way that she looked at me when she talk to me as if I was dirty or something. I almost examined myself, but I thought no. It didn't matter what I looked like even if I came in there with holes in my shirt I know who I am and most importantly who's I am. All people deserve to be treated equally. Furthermore, anyone who knows me, knows that I always aim to be presentable. Nevertheless,I asked nurse/aid Ang.. what the exam the doctor did entailed and what were the results. She told me that it was a routine exam that the doctor does. I asked so what is that? (I mean how many times should one have to ask) She told me to calm down. I said excuse me I need to know what had been done regarding our sweet girl and are there any results yet. I told her that we have been there for several hours. Nurse/aid Ang.. told me that there were other pets there with emergencies. I could not believe that she told me that as if my pet did not matter. There is no way on earth I would've gone to that place if I did not feel that we had an emergency. For goodness sake our baby was having a difficult time breathing and kept us up throughout the night. I thought about her telling me to calm down so I in return proceeded to tell her to come down if she has issues with me asking questions about my pet. I told her since she's behaving in such a manner regarding my questions I'm going to record her so that she could not say that I had said something that had not been said. At this point she tells me well maybe I need to go get my supervisor. I suggested that she do just that. Her supervisor came in and totally diffused the situation which I do appreciate and I have to applaud nurse B for her professionalism! She began by apologizing for nurse/aid An...'s behavior and she did say that she told nurse/aid Ang.. that she should not have said that to me. Nurse B told me that the doctor examined our fur baby and checked our baby's vitals and they appear to be normal. I told her that if everything seem to be normal just give us our bill so that we could leave. She told me that she does believe that they had comped the charges. However they did not. Our bill was $136 for what I feel to be overpriced for our time and treatment there. The room that we were in had blood stains on the floor I held our baby the whole time. I hope that there is another emergency vet available soon because we had the most awful experience. The following Monday we took our baby to see a different vet and was told that she was in respiratory distress. After their examination and test there were also some newly reported underlying issues. They gave her a number of shots and multiple medications for her heart and lungs due to respiratory distress issues. SHAME ON YOU MedVet!! We have used Medvet for two of our pets. Their services are specialized and included surgical care for both of them. We found their staff kind and caring and Dr Bufkin is amazing. He walks you through step by step everything to expect and calls and reports every step of the way. Runs like a hospital for humans. Very impressed!!! read more

Recommended by regular vet for emergency. Performed just like hospital ER. Stabilized patient hit by car and diagnosed injuries. Board certified surgeon did surgery. Kept us in the loop before, during and after surgery. Patient recovered well from serious injury/surgery. Caring, competent staff. Not inexpensive but very fortunate to have this capability nearby. read more

With a heavy heart as I type this on November 12,2019 I was faced with the unbearable pain with making the decision to have my 16 year old female chihuahua euthanized. At 11:00 p.m she had a major seizure that lasted about 7-8 minutes (which seemed to last forever at the time)! As I held my sweet baby talking to her to try and bring her back out of it. She finally came too. After holding her and crying I placed her on the floor to see how she would react. She couldn't walk and was screaming and crying. And what seemed to me was that she didn't have any knowledge of who I was or where she was. So I rushed her to medvet for help. Was greeted and quickly placed in a room. They took my sweet girl to the back where I still heard her crying for help. I already knew what I was facing,but no one is ever prepared to give them that answer. I was quoted a price of 1400.00 for them to run test to try,and determine what was going wrong or 450.00 for a private cremation. My regular vet had already prepared me for this a few weeks back. She has been slowly declining in health,and the end to her life was drawing closer to an end. The doctor was very compassionate,and gave her something to calm her down so myself,my husband and teenager son could spend some time with her. It's not easy to give someone permission to take (what I consider one of my children) life,but I didn't want to see her suffer anymore. When my family was ready the doctor came back in to administer the medicine to relieve her from the pain that she was in. As I cried holding her,and feeling her take her last breath of air,and her little heart stop beating I was lost. This makes the third time I've been faced with this horrible decision. And I can assure you it doesn't get any easier. As an animal lover I still have five dogs left a female chihuahua that's 13, a male lab that's 8 (which dr Bufkin) done his ACL Surgery. A female lab that's 3 and two foster babies one that 8-9 ( not sure of her age because she was dumped in our neighborhood). And then another one that was dumped that is under or right at a year old. So I know I will experience this pain ago. But I don't know how much more of this pain my heart can handle. The only relief I take away from this is that my baby girl isn't suffering anymore. read more

They are very slow and misconstrue what is actually being done with your pet while you wait for hours. They will ask what is the maximum you can afford and they will charge you just under that price. I asked for my pet back numerous times and was repeatedly told a few more minutes or that they were doing what they said they would do or were doing hours ago. I could understand waiting for more injured pets, however, the staff needs to get their stories straight...the truth goes a long way. My pet needed an IV from what I was told and which led to the almost $500 cap I stated initially only for him to come home and drink 4 bowls of water...so no water the whole 4 hours we waited?! As I see all the bad reviews...sounds like the owner needs to talk the their staff about giving correct info to the clients. Michael J wasn't kidding...your pet is in prison. Medvet is fantastic. My dog had his knee surgery here last year. He's recovered well. The staff is so amazing and attentive. My dog loves this place! I'm so happy he's walking again and even running now! I was devastated when he was hurt and suffering, but Medvet and Dr Bufkin made the process a little less stressful. Dr Bufkin is extremely knowledgeable. Very accommodating. So caring. They are always available through the recovery process when you have questions or concerns, and they are so kind. They keep you informed of your pet's progress before and after surgery. I appreciate you ALL (special thanks to his main nurse Trish) and thank you for helping my little buddy get back on his feet. Our ten year old Boston terrier was seen by our regular vet Monday. I was told there wasn't much to be done for her but to keep her comfortable and once she started having seizures caused by her condition it would be time to let her go. Something I didn't want to do. She rapidly declined and had a couple bad episodes where I felt so helpless. Lest night 11/13/19, sitting beside me in our chair she started seizing, it didn't last long, but then she yelped in pain and panted heavily for awhile. I knew she couldn't wait until morning. I couldn't let her suffer until our vet opened. So at 9pm we made our way to medvet. I couldn't stop crying enough to talk to the staff. The staff was very kind and compassionate. I hate I couldn't compose myself. They gave us respect and care during the whole ordeal. Although I hate I needed their service, I am so THANKFUL they were there to help our Khloe cross over the rainbow bridge. read more

I was unfamiliar with this veterinarian, as I usually took my 20 pound little yellow/red dog (a smallish but overweight - most likely due to having her spayed - Chihuahua type of dog ~ I describe her this way, because I was not sure of her parentage, she was a roadside rescue adopted from the local shelter) to another vet closer to me at Tillman's Corner. However, the vet she usually went to did not have night hours, and their emergency clinic did not have a regular vet on night duty, but would have to call one in, and was quite a bit further away. In fact, they recommended MedVet to me. I was greeted promptly, and settled into a quiet room to wait to see the vet, who was taking care of another patient's problems when I first arrived. When he was able to see us, he was friendly, and listened to our problem and saw that my little girl was in extreme acute distress. She had been vomiting up every time she drank water, and had not taken any food for two days. By the time I was sure I needed to take her in it was midnight, and I needed my neighbor to drive me with my little dog to the vet. We arrived at around 1:00 AM, and I was given treatment options, with a minimum cost range for an overnight stay, or a 24 hour stay with more agressive treatments. I was so worried I told the vet I approved the 24 hour stay costs for the various tests and treatments and he agreed to keep me posted on her condition. He did call me every couple of hours through the night, and in the morning at shift change also called to say, that although he had done the tests, she did not look to be in good shape and would probably need lots more time and aggressive treatment before being better, and would probably be on medications for the rest of her life. I told him that I would be right over to see her, and reassure her, and he was leaving just as I pulled into the driveway, so I did not get a chance to speak to him directly. However, everyone in the office was very kind, and they brought my chihuahua out to me to hold and love, and I could see that she was in very sad and bad condition. She was mostly out of her head, but on two occasions, she pricked up her ears and opened her eyes wide, as if pleading with me to help or release her. She started to scream in pain and the tech took her back to put on the IV pain reliever again, and I was given the options to put her through a lot of treatments, continuing pain, and systems failing, or to euthanize her. It was a very difficult decision: I personally wanted her to live and come home with me again; she wanted to be released from her pain. I wavered and was given a private room to decide, and visit with her again, and she was so pitiful, I asked the doctor on duty, who was very kind and allowed us to visit and for me to hold and talk to her and kiss her goodbye, while she gently injected the medicine to release her from her painful body. They were thoroughly kind to me, and offered me to have a pawprint made from her foot, which was done, and I paid for the Euthanasia, and a cremation. It was a difficult, and very sad, but very gently done experience, and I was very emotional and weepy, and the staff was so very kind. I wish I had known about them in 2006 when I was first here and had a tiny poodle with an enlarged heart, who was dying and foaming at the mouth, and we didn't know where to go, so tried to go to a human hospital to get her oxygen and no one anywhere would help us. I am sure this vet would have been as kind as they were for my little Princess Smoochie Houdini, my best and funny little friend. God Rest Her Soul, and I hope we will meet again. read more
