Popped into the medway cafe again, this time for dinner, and it was just as good as my last visit. The waitress was very attentive, checking in regularly and keeping our drinks topped off. I ordered the Sheppard's pie on this visit which was packed full of sirloin beef chunks, they certainly did not skimp on the meat and pack it full of fillers. The potatoes on top were delicious with just the right amount of crispness on them. Another delicious meal. And I look forward to visiting again in the future read more

Ever since Medway Cafe changed ownership several months back, I am reluctant to go there. I have only gone back 3 times. Which before it was every other week. The new owners very shortly after taking over up the prices on just about everything by an average of $2.00 per meal. They dropped the rewards program and because they did not inform us of this, points that could have been transferred to their old sister restaurant Boston Tavern were lost because there was a 30 day window to do it in. The food is good, but Boston Tavern who has almost the exact menu aside from specials, still has the old prices of the original Medway Cafe. Plus Boston Tavern throws in a complimentary side of Baked beans with their Burgers on top of the side you get with it. You will do better at Boston Tavern and they really pack the sandwiches and Burgers. read more

The food is uneatable. The wings were raw and cold. Also my eggplant parm (which is hard to mess up) was so gross. It was uncooked long slices of eggplant on ziti and then just sauce and cheese. I went for a late lunch today with my son. We got appetizers and I ordered the quesadillas and my son got the chicken parm which I tasted and that was good. The quesadillas on the other hand was horrible. I took a bite and it smelled so bad I couldn't eat it. Then my son took a bite and said he could smell it too. Bad cheese or bad chicken but not sure. My mom and I went here jan 14 2025 for lunch. Amazing food! The buffalo chicken dip was the best I had!! My mom who is very picky. Loved the fried clams. She said they were the best she ever had! Dinner for six on a Wednesday night for my mother in law's birthday. Little did we know it was Italian night. Two entrees, 2 salads, 2 drinks (beer, wine, or nonalcoholic) and a small pizza for $25. Place has dropped off at a steady pace over the last couple of years. Keep hoping it'll get back to what it was pre covid but it's still trending in the wrong direction using the last half dozen visits as my reference point. Usually I leave Yelp alone but I'm hoping something will get their attention because it feels like they've either had some serious turnover in the kitchen that has led to this decline or they've gotten lazy due to there being minimum competition in the immediate area. It's to the point where the gf and I have decided to take another reviewer's advice and forego the five minute drive to the Cafe to take a twenty minute drive to the Ashland Ale House and try them out. I'm going to stick with the highlights of our most recent visit, but mind you that it has followed quite a few other mediocre meals. Service was on point, so no problem there. Drinks came quick though that's no surprise as it was a middling crowd and they had what looked to at least eight servers milling about. Got the grilled chicken special, which was simple grilled chicken breast with onions, peppers and mushrooms and topped with cheddar served with garlic mashed. Chicken appeared to have been thrown on the grill with zero cleaning as there was some chewy fat and gristle that had to spat into a napkin. Also found some purple chicken later due to blood in the meat on the piece that I took home. Takes 10 seconds, if that, to trim those up prior to throwing them on the grill. Grilled veggies were fine. Potatoes were gluey and I could see it as the plate was being put down. Prime rib came to the table barely warm even though it was ordered medium. No side of au jus or horseradish, and the plate only had whatever liquid that came out of the meat... which wasn't much. The gf isn't a Jus fan so she wasn't bothered but it goes to the appearance of not caring about what you're letting leave the kitchen on a $30 plate. Fries were solid. Extremely simple dishes with basic, easily avoidable mistakes. Used to love this place for it's consistency but that hasn't been on deck in arguably three years. It's unfortunate. read more

I went there for father's day this weekend. I arrived a little after 1PM as the majority of the lunch crowd left. It was 25% filled with the majority of folks at the bar. We ordered 2 salads, Philly Cheese Steak, and Chicken Piccata special. After 45 minutes waiting, I had to keep hand signaling the waitress to come over to find out where our meals were. The answer was, almost ready. After another 45 minutes we got up and left. As we walking out the manager came running out and told us to wait it was almost done. No actual apology. Too late! Disappointed. We have eaten there 25+ times and never had a meal we would describe as 'very good'. It's mediocre food that is probably $2-$5 more expensive than it should be (for every thing on the menu). The wait staff, with few exceptions, are attentive, smile when they greet you and do appear to want to provide good service. Like most places today, they seem under staffed and don't verify the food they are serving agrees to the order (like no pickles/no tomatoes or other 'seemingly simple' customization). The problem is in the kitchen, not the waitstaff. The decor is fine, like the menu, it's unchanged basically for perhaps 15 years. My wife and I have a better experience simply sitting at the bar having a burger and a beer. That is their sweet spot as a food joint. read more
