We are in Wilmington for a NYE week stay cation and thankfully this place was open today (New Years day) the gyro was SO good! Fresh ingredients and just seasoned right meat. The food is very good. I've eaten there a few times but as take out or delivery. The food is always made to order and hot. It is very tasty and I love the chicken skewers! However the only thing is they are very pricey. Perhaps you get what you pay for though so I'll pay the extra for the quality. The tzatziki sauce is so delicious. I dip everything in it lol. The pita is great too. The rice is good but I wish they didn't have lingering peas and carrots in it and offered a different option without those but otherwise it's great. Now while vacationing in NC, I expected to find some damn fine barbecue, which I did two doors down from Meet the Greek at Heritage BBQ. But a place the serves solid Greek food, like lamb & beef gyro meat shaved off a spit!!! No way!! Friends let me tell you, most happily, I was wrong!!! Meet the Greek delivers fresh, hot, tasty Greek food in belly filling quantities!! I went with two friends and I ordered a large beef lamb gyro, a 4 piece order of Dolmas, stuffed grape leaves, and of course some Baklava for dessert. The gyro was massive, freshly cut lamb & beef with red onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and a generous helping of fresh herbaceous Tzatziki sauce!! To say it hit the spot would be an understatement!! The Dolmas were also very fresh with perfect seasoned rice that has just been the right touch of mint. How one can feel so full yet pleased that it also felt like a healthy meal!! The Baklava, a dessert, paper thin filo pastry layered with chopped nuts and honey, even felt on the healthier side of things as I licked the sweet honey from my fingers and considered all the other carnival sweets I indulged in whilst on my beech vacation!! My one friend got a medium gyro and barely finished it, said he wanted to stop but it tasted too good not to finish it. My other friend chose a Caesar salad, not exactly Greek but she was delighted to find the Caesar dressing so fresh, cheesy, and creamy! Meet the Greek also offers not only a Greek Salad but an even more traditional Horiatiki or Village Salad featuring briny Kalamata Olives. This would have been the one for me had I not been so stuffed from my gyro & grape leaves! The restaurant itself is not large but is very clean with a nautical Greek village decor that only enhances your dining experience. The staff was very friendly and accommodating as well. I am never disappointed and amazed at the consistent quality. Took some picky eaters today and everyone said their meal was really good.

Order to-go through the phone and they were on time with the order when I picked it up. It used to be the Greeks so you can dine in, but it's a small space. Tried the Lamb gyro, side of pork skewer, baklava, and kataifi dessert. No hot sauce available, only cayenne pepper, which is disappointing. Lamb gyro was good, very filling. My partner was able to finish pretty much all of his but I wasn't able to finish it. Lamb was sliced very thin. Would've loved it more if there were some crispy bits of lamb. Fries were in the gyro, not crispy. The pork skewer was very good, very flavorful and tender. A lemon wedge came with it. Definitely recommend. Our order came with extra pieces of seasoned pita bread slices, which were good. On opening day they had samples of baklava, which was good. Kataifi had good flavor but the kataifi dough was a bit soggy just sitting inside the closed container. Would have been better if the dough was crunchy. There is a surcharge if you use credit card. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back again. read more

This was my first time trying Meet the Greek. I got the kabobs with salad and grape leaves. Everything was absolutely delicious and super filling. I had leftovers that also tasted amazing the next day. The staff was all very nice and the wait time was really short. Friendly counter service. They have a very small limited menu which includes variations for gyros, chicken skewers, and pork skewers (choice between pita sandwich or platter). The salad that comes with the platter is really basic (just lettuce, tomato and cucumber). They don't have a Greek salad dressing so we opted for the oil/vinegar dressing. Gyro meat was great! Fries were good (regular frozen dues), taziki was delicious, and the salad was okay. Restaurant is tiny inside. Even less seating that the Greeks. read more

I have been waiting all week to get a Gyro and I remember this place. Today I ordered a gyro and did not pay attention to all being done. He heated the pita bread then I sat and waited. When it was all done he added the fillings and took a little basket full of the meat. I got home and realized I was served a cold sandwich with cold meat. By far the first and last time I will visit. Yes, meat can be heated in the microwave but it defeats the purpose of paying for something that should have been done correctly the first time. Too expensive for what I got. Never again. read more
