I was concerned that, because of the age of the appliance, I might need to replace the entire cooktop. Instead, he was able to repair it and get everything working properly again. I really appreciated their honesty, professionalism, and expertise with high-end appliances. It's not easy to find someone who is willing and able to service a 20+ year-old Wolf cooktop. Thor's own certified service providers were no better (one declined the brand, the other ghosted). Gold Standard had 259 five-star reviews, so my wife reached out through Yelp on November 20. It took two weeks and a follow-up message (plus a voicemail) before Cristhian responded. He came out on December 8, diagnosed the issue, and quoted us $272.30 + tax for the part and $310 for labor. We paid $85 for the diagnosis and told him to go ahead and order the part. Then, silence. My wife followed up on December 16. No response. Again on December 18, this time saying we'd find someone else if he couldn't commit to a date. He finally replied, saying the part was backordered and wouldn't arrive until mid-to-late January. We said we'd wait. Late January came. My wife followed up again. Cristhian said he'd call the supplier "real quick." A few days later he reported the supplier wasn't answering his calls or emails. He said he'd look into alternatives. My wife followed up again on February 10, offering to source the part herself if he'd just tell her the part number. No response. On February 28, after three months of this, we sent a final message letting him know we were moving on. Cristhian never replied. Summary: we paid $85 for a diagnosis, got a quote that was never acted on, sent roughly ten messages over three months, and received maybe four replies. The part was apparently never procured. His phone always went to voicemail. I'm writing this because the 5-star rating doesn't reflect our experience. Hopefully Cristhian will respond and resolve the issue quickly, and/or refund the $85 diagnosis fee.

I asked for his patience and asked him for recommendations - my partner and I were considering replacing the diswasher instead - he provided feedback on some brands we were considering (the broken washer was Maytag, the other models we were considering were Miele, Bosch, and Thermador). He was cognizant of the weird geometry in our small kitchen and cabinetry and made some really good recommendations. In the end we opted for him to order the replacement parts and do the repair. He revised his schedule estimate based on the delay we introduced while we decided and delivered precisely on the revised date and timing. Very good, conscientious service, very solid advice, brand neutral, supportive and generous. I am very happy with his overall service and the quality of his work. Superb.

He came out quickly and diagnosed a key problem with the refrigerator; a blown main control board. Because my refrigerator is quite old, Alex didn't have the part on hand. Instead, he placed an expedited special order for it on the spot. He clearly explained that there also could be secondary problems, masked by the blown control board. We agreed though that it made sense and would save me money by replacing the control board first and then evaluating next steps. Luckily that was all that was needed to get my refrigerator back and up and running. Hurray! With the back of the refrigerator open, Alex took care to clean the condenser coils and other interior spaces to help keep it operating efficiently. My refrigerator now runs more quietly than I ever remember! While here, Alex also checked my Whirlpool clothes washing machine and cleaned out the accumulated gunk in the drain line that prevented it from draining properly and operating efficiently. Both my refrigerator and washer are old machines and now working like new. For both, Alex offered helpful, expert maintenance tips and advice, should I ever need to replace them.
