I brought my Alfa Romeo Giulia in with a brake/IBS issue. They took the job (credit for that), but everything else was a mess: a month of delays while my car sat on the street, a hidden $75 parking ticket, 76 miles put on my car, rude treatment, filthy interior, and a padded "diagnosis" bill that left the brakes locked in service mode. Last straw: they hid the parking ticket until after I'd paid in full. The problem (short): Brake failure/IBS fault. I authorized diagnosis. After their "diagnostic," the car was left in Brake Service Mode with all four wheels locked, making even towing difficult without a full lift. -What I give them credit for (+*) +5* for taking the job at all. Many shops refuse Alfas; they agreed to work on it after I said I'd supply the correct used IBS unit myself. Why this is 1 star (everything below subtracts) Minus 1* Month-long delay & storage on the street They had my keys, yet the car sat outside on the street for over a month instead of on their lot. I had to drive over just to find out where it was. Minus 1* $75 ticket because the car was left on the street I later discovered a $75 parking ticket issued while the car was under their control. Minus 1* 76 miles driven -- way beyond any reasonable test Odometer shows +76 miles after service. That's not a "quick test drive." (See photos.) Minus 1*No fuel after all those miles They returned the car with no fuel added after putting those miles on it. Minus 1* Dirty hands on a light interior + trash left inside My light interior was stained and the car had trash left in it. I then had to pay for interior cleaning. Minus 1* Rude attitude when I asked why my car was on the street When I came to ask what was going on, I was told, essentially, "If you don't like it, take your keys and leave." I couldn't--because they didn't know how to exit service mode on the brakes and refused to fix it. Minus 1* Hiding the ticket They removed the ticket from under the wiper and never told me about it until after I'd paid. That's unacceptable. Costs & quote * $500 up front for "diagnosis." After this, the car was undriveable due to the brakes locked in service mode. * They quoted $5,500 to replace the IBS because "we don't want to deal with this car." * I negotiated $1,500 labor only (I supplied the correct donor IBS--no programming needed). * Add $75 ticket, fuel they used over 76 miles, plus interior detailing I had to pay for. I didn't run to write a review when I noticed the miles, the smell, and the mess inside. I didn't write when I had to pay for cleaning. But learning later that the $75 ticket had been hidden from me was the last straw. Bottom line: They took the job (+), but the way they handled my car and treated me erased any goodwill. One star. I'll start off by saying I've been around the majority of the well known independent BMW service shops in the Chicago suburbs. In the end, Megan Auto Works has the best prices and the best service. Honesty is hard to find in the car service industry, but I find Kevin to be refreshing in his honesty. He diagnoses all the problems in your car and tells you what is a priority to fix versus what can wait. I just wish his shop was closer to me. My BMW is going on 10 years, and I just got several thousand dollars worth of work done on it. As everyone knows, BMW stands for bring my wallet after the warranty is up. Had I gotten the same work done at the BMW dealership or even some of the other independent service shops that jack up their prices on the basis of a five year warranty , it would've easily set me back five figures. Just because I'm female doesn't mean I don't know a lick about BMW or the inner workings of my car. I know how to browse online for parts prices. Don't mistake my gender for being car-naive. Kevin is patient with my questions and answers them to my satisfaction. I look forward to providing him with my business for years to come for the needs of all my future German cars. read more

I bought a 32yo Mercedes and the previous owner used Megan Auto Works for repairs, that's where I continue to bring this classic car. I live in Chicago, but I feel the car is in good hands and I'm in good hands. In 18 months I've had front brakes repaired and some minor repairs. Its a very small shop, with 2 experts....I usually dont leave feedback but thought it might help others..... These guys are best, they will let you see with your own eyes whats wrong with the car, and show what needs to be changed so that you are very comfortable with what you are getting fixed. And they also used only OEM parts and when I asked them if they can used after market parts for my Mercedes they said no we don't recommend buts its your choice, I like their work they got greaaaaat experience and the most imp is I can see in front of my own eyes(10-20 feet away from my car) what is getting fixed while waiting...And things which don't needs parts are just done FREE at times....They are highly highly recommended. ---Irfan. read more

Really disappointed in Megan Auto Works. I had a good experience in the past but times have changed! I brought my car in to have it looked over and to have an A or C service done. After waiting for 3 HOURS, there was no estimate and no work done. Instead, Jeff showed me his technician's scribbled notes and rushed through explaining repairs the car supposedly needed. Jeff didn't have a copy for me, so I had to take a picture of the notes with my cell phone. When I called later in the day with a question about the notes, Kevin, the technician, was rude to the point of being abusive and didn't even answer my question. On top of that, his prices were inflated. Worst of all, Jeff used EPOXY to adhere a small plastic GPS cover to the trunk lid of my pristine Mercedes! The part is not even straight or flush with the surface! He also smeared two additional globs of epoxy on the trunk lid. Removing the epoxy, if it's even possible, may RUIN the clearcoat and paint on the car. I feel totally disrespected and let down by Megan Auto Works. Jeff, what happened to you? UPDATE: 10-12-16 - Had the car checked by another Mercedes shop and found out Megan's Auto recommended repairs costing $1150. that were unnecessary. read more

The only reason I'm giving this place 2 starts is b/c of the conversation I had with Jeff. Jeff was very kind on the phone when I spoke to him. I was referred here by a friend and she said that they pride themselves on Customer Service, i thought the same thing when I initially spoke with Kevin on Sat 11/03/2018. When Kevin spoke to me he was very kind and informative in giving me information surrounding a quote over the phone. I decided to bring my car in today (Monday) to have it serviced by them just off the strengthen of my conversation with Kevin on Saturday. My rating is b/c I don't know what has transpired for Kevin during the day but he is rude, he over talks you, seems very frustrated when you're asking questions and as a new customer I was not going to pay him hundreds of dollars and his attitude was horrible. When a customer has chosen you it's because its CHOICE, not b/c you're the best in town. I wish business owners would pride themselves more on Customer service then the dollar sign. I will never return here, refer them ever. In the line of work I do, they would benefit from the referrals but not if having to deal with such rude behavior. read more
