Naan came out when the meal was basically over. The sauces were very watery. The chicken in the tikka masala tasted very gamey. Informed me that my order should be ready 40-45 mins which is expected since I ordered tandoori entré. Upon arrival (45mins) I found my food to be just sitting there bag open waited 5mins to pay could've just walked out with food if I wanted to because no one was there. But waited patiently and paid and once I arrived home and started eating the tandoori chicken and samosas were super old and the biryani was cold. I can't believe this place only has one review. I came here the other night for dinner. We showed up around 8:30pm on Saturday, and we were the only diners in the place. There was a party going on in the banquet hall. I think a lot of people get take-out rather than eating in, but Dianne (the host/waitress) is awesome. We got garlic naan, onion naan, palak gorsht (goat with spinach), chicken tikka masala, and vegetable biryani. All was delicious. I really like the palak gorsht and tikka masala. Both had delicious flavoring and were really good the next day as leftovers. Dianne is awesome. I will definitely come back next time I'm in Pittsburg and in the mood for Indian food. read more

We had the place all to ourselves (2 of us) on a Friday night for dinner. They clearly do a lot of catering/banquet business as well as takeout. In fact, the waitress indicated that few people will dine-in when they see the lot is full (from the banquet crowds). But we still found parking alright. Very friendly service, delicious made-to-order cuisine (which seemed slow, but I guess was worth it). Rice or nan don't come with entrees, which was sort of disappointing, and can make the bill shoot up quickly. But hubby got a huge beer for $6, so that evened the scales. The location is terrible in a way, but also convenient (swift drive from Kirker Pass in Concord). Case in point: two loud idiot thugs came in for takeout, loitered around inside while waiting, and blabbed and cussed loudly on their cell phones during the wait. read more

I'm was not a big fan of Indian food at first. My sister would always insist in going to Indian restaurants because where she works she gets plenty of exposure to Indian food and culture. I always like eating here because of the yummy lunch buffet they have. The Biryani is spicy, but good and the Chicken Tika Masala is also very good. There are about one dozen plus dishes including a good assortment of deserts and Chai Tea. It is close to my house, but is in a kind of awkward location because it is not close to any big retail areas. It is located in a really old part of Railroad Ave. that I never venture into, unless we are going here of course ;) The place itself is clean and they do a lot of banquet catering at their facilities next door. So, if you are afraid to try Indian food, I would come here for the lunch buffet because there is a good assortment of dishes to try and you don't have to be stressed ordering. Then, next time in another Indian restaurant you know what to get - but why would you go elsewhere when the food here is yummy! read more

Mmmmmmm, what can I say about Mehran that's been said already?! Their naan, no joke, is mind-blowing. I usually take out when I go there, and when I come home with a bag full of naan, my Mexican mom says, "Oh, you brought Indian flour tortillas!" These beauties go amazing with any other food requiring a little soft love. ;) (They have a new flavor of naan, cheese and garlic, I believe, YUM.) As for the rest of the food: everyone goes for the Chicken Tikka Masala, and for a reason, it's awesome. I would really recommend trying their other dishes too! I choose a dish that was a spinach puree (extra spicy for me!) with chicken and it was just heavenly (hopefully healthy, because I did get a hint of butter, but I'm not complaining). My brother is a big sucker for their mango lassi and so am I; it's sweet, yet just perfectly refreshing. Apparently it's a recipe passed down from mother to son, as the host translated to me. It was endearing hearing that as the guy who made it peeked out the little window on the door and gave me a big smile. :3 In terms of location, it is a pretty bad, that shopping plaza, or whatever it is, has never brought much clientele to the area, but I'm not gonna dock points because of that, it's still a great little restaurant. read more

I'm so irritated. I just spent $27 on something I can't even eat. It's too spicy! As well, this is totally not a tikka masala sauce as I asked. I called before driving 20 minutes to the restuarant to make sure they could make paneer tikka masala as it's not on the menu, instead of chicken, add the cheese...not hard. I've done it at other Himilayan and Indian restaurants with no issue. this sauce they gave me is like a clumpy gel, not a smooth masala gravy, I'm pissed. I had my mouth set for something and basically spent $35 (consider gas in a large SUV) for something that I couldn't even eat and isn't what I wanted. Oh Mehran, What a surprise you have been. The Indian food here is SSSOOO GOOODD. The Lunch buffet ( $8.99) is so delicious and the food is all covered and the buffet is really clean. Naan is cooked to order-which is awesome. The servers are really nice and attentive. Best chicken tikka marsala I've ever had. My husband tried the goat and said it was pretty good ( He went back for it three times). Plenty of vegetarian options. Easy parking and never a wait to be seated. Me and wifey have been going to Indian buffet. (mostly India 4 U, really) Her coworker mentioned Mehran so we had to check it out. We just stick ed to their buffet items which was good overall. Among the items that really stood out was their Tandoori Chicken. It has some kick into it, and that I do like. Chicken Marsala was good, its sauce is great with the Na an served. They had a beef dish served that was pretty good as well. Oh and their 'Indian" fried rice was delicious. Their Mango Lassie was just okay, a little too much mango rather than the mango/yougart taste I have been accustomed. Overall a good buffet. read more

Went back this past weekend, and again sampled their buffet. It was a sumptuous collection of fresh new choices. This time the Curry Goat won my heart. Also, service was delightful. The 'main' server there has a very respectful and genuine professionalism about her. I missed her name, but she really raises the 'classy' factor of the venue. I overheard several other patrons thank her for the great service. I would have to concur. Upgrade to 5 stars! PS. I have been living in Pittsburg for over 5 years and and have never been able to find a decent restaurant of any kind. Frustrating. Mehran is yum. It's a small, cozy restaurant. Very clean. Very good service. I went on Sunday for the buffet and it was more than i expected. The food was delicious, fresh and presentable. I normally don't like Indian food but damn this was some good Indian food. Very flavorful. Making my mouth water as I'm writing this. I would not recommend the grilled platter. This use to be my favorite restaurant, but after my order... I don't think I'll go back. First I ordered the fish tukka masala and I found a metal object in my food..... and the fish tastes Burt and inedible . I had to throw it away. The rice with goat i ordered was good, I will say that..... but I'm just disappointed in that fish... I was really excited for that. This place is starting to fall off.... and ordering from a third party is something I don't think I want to do from this point on. I need to see what's going on with my food. This is our go-to Indian restaurant, mainly because it's so close to our house. The one dish that we order regularly is the chicken tikka masala made spicy with a side of onion kulcha. The other items we've tried were only so-so. Beware, if you order online you may want to arrive 20 minutes after the projected pickup time. The food is almost never ready. i literally just finished eating my lunch from Mehran Restaurant and went strait to my comp to review this restaurant. all i can say is YUM!! the food was fantastic. great flavor from the dishes that i ordered (all to go), but after visiting this restaurant for the first time, and taking a peak at their lunchtime buffet, i must say that i WILL definitely come back. for lunch i ordered the Vegetable Samosa to get me started. two large pieces of curry spiced potatoes, carrots and other veggies in a fried pocket of dough. i devoured one on the drive back to work, and finished the other half of the second one in my office. lol! for my main lunch entree, i ordered two dishes: Karahi Gosht and Lamb Curry. i accompanied the two dishes with the mixed Naan basket. soooo goood!! the Karahi Gosht is a goat stew cooked with tomatoes, green chilies, ginger, spices and dhaniya (i had to look this one up; coriander seed powder). it was delish, especially if you don't mind the goat meat with some bones (and i do consider eating with your fingers a good thing). the Lamb Curry was, afterall, lamb curry, so no surprise there. it was delicious, though. both dishes were ordered with mild, but that is clearly and understatement! the mild was even spicy for me, and if you know me well enough, i like it spicy!! good thing i didn't go for the heat! lol! the mixed Naan basket was a combination of three different Naan flavors: Garlic Naan, Onion Kulcha and regular Naan. very good flavors and all were complimentary to the entrees. i do regret not ordering the Kheer, which is my favorite dessert; a fragrant rice pudding and the Gulab Jamun. it'll be my reason for going back next time!! bon appetite!! read more

Tonight I ordered with the Beyond Menu App and my order was never received by the restaurant. I've ordered with this app a dozen times before and no issues. When I came to pick up the order they didn't have it in there system. I showed them my phone and for some reason there system was down. I had received my email confirmation and with the App. I had to end up cancelling the order because I didn't wanna wait 30 minutes for them to make the order. Mehran was the perfect setting for an early dinner with a co-worker before we headed to a 6:30 meeting in Pittsburg. Once I got beyond the nondescript strip mall setting, I found Mehran's decor pleasing and the staff very welcoming. Our two entrees had just enough fire for my Western palate. The basket of naan was particularly delicious and the serving size very generous -- my friend and I both had some to take home. The hot tea could have been hotter in temperature and the service a bit quicker. I want to come back for the noon buffet and another dinner with DH. Found this place with the entertainment book. Used the card for up to $13 off one entree when another is purchased. Excellent chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and the prawn tikka masala has the perfect blend of spices. Rice and naan bread is extra but well worth it. Portions are generous. Place is usually fairly empty but they also have banquet rooms and do parties, wedding receptions and alot of takeout. Place is clean and water is filtered. I was craving Indian food for a very long time and considering the rating of this place I thought I was going to be blown away! The place is clean, they have a huge parking space with 2 entrances for 2 separate party halls. The food - I ordered medium spice chicken curry ($8.99) and a side of rice ($2.99). Now, with the curry, I would expect a large or fair portion for that price or if not at least include the rice or a side of naan (as they do other places). The portion of rice was small as well. The taste of the chicken curry was different and the medium spice was very spicy for medium. The food overall was ok, not the best I've had. Maybe I'll try the buffet next time. They have to go options, but don't have to go cups. The lady that worked there asked if I wanted a bowl instead.
