You can see our order in the latest photo and how expensive it was. the Lo Mein was mostly tasteless and certainly lacking in thast "lo mein flavor." Although the meat was tender, the sauce was just a sticky brown sauce. Surprisingly, the Spicy Pickle Tofu was essentially the same sticky brown sauce as the Lo Mein but with some fried tofu in it and without the noodles but nothing otherwise remarkable. You can tell by looking at my earlier picture attached. The old picture shows a bright and colorful plate. The dish today was a dark brown (you could hardly see the tofu from the beef) as everything was just dark. Eggplant seemed to have a similar brown sauce as well but the eggplant was otherwise tasteless. Nothing popped. Chicken bites were bland and not at all crunchy. Just fried to soft texture but no real flavor. According to our server, the menu was just recently updated about a month ago. We noticed because one of our favorites was the Fried Taro Pie which is now gone from the menu and the server said yes, that's right. Maybe this place has a new owner or chef, but it's no longer in my top asian restaurants for Tucson.

Mei Mei is always a pleasure; my boyfriend and I have been going once per month for about three years, but never reviewed them. I figured their 25 year anniversary and remodeling was the perfect time to leave a review. I honestly have never had better Chinese American food so long as I've lived in Tucson (20 years). The crab puffs are delicious and always fresh out of the fryer, and their chicken dishes are delightful. Perfect, crispy batter on the outside, fresh, juicy chicken on the inside. While I have mostly remained with the chicken dishes, the rest of the menu is just as wonderful with a wide variety of dishes to sate just about any craving. The wait staff is always sweet and professional, cheerfully seating you quickly and providing excellent service throughout the meal. Though there is a bit of a language barrier, it hardly affects their infectious positivity and service. The newly remodeled interior is simple and understated, but modern and clean with plenty of space. Prior to the remodeling, the restaurant was a little tired looking, but now looks rejuvenated and up to date. Mei Mei will always be a pleasure to eat at, and I relish the opportunities I get to bring family and friends to experience it. read more

Delicious Food and Warm Service at Mei Mei in Tucson I recently dined at Mei Mei Chinese Restaurant in Tucson, and while the decor may be simple and unassuming, the food and service truly shine! The menu offers a fantastic variety of traditional Chinese dishes, and everything we ordered was flavorful and freshly prepared. The flavors were authentic, and the portions generous. I especially recommend their [insert a dish you'd enjoy, e.g., Kung Pao Chicken or Beef Chow Fun]--absolutely delicious! The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Despite the no-frills ambiance, the warm hospitality more than made up for it. Best of all, the prices were very reasonable, offering excellent value for the quality and portion sizes.
