Philadelphia Roll and Tuna Avocado Roll

Staff was friendly and inside was nice. But fish didnt taste super fresh. I get sushi rolls from a lot of different restaurants and I wasnt really a fan of theirs. I ended up not finishing the rolls.

Total trash. The sushi must have come out of the Passaic River. Ordered for lunch and this is what came. It was mushy and had very little taste. No sauce. Would not order again with so many great places in town.

I ordered lunch here today. I just wanted a couple of small appetizers and nothing big, and I was impressed. I placed my order online and by the time I got there it was ready. I ordered tuna tataki and tatsuta age. The tuna was fresh and the sauce had a nice flavor. The chicken was good, slightly dry, and the dipping sauce was a little too sweet for my liking. However, the chicken was good overall. Would I order again? Yes. I did enjoy my little lunch. I haven't dined in there yet. Perhaps I'll try that soon

I ordered through UberEats on 2/1/19. I originally thought I was ordering from Mei Hibachi in Hackensack but realized it was Mei Sushi once the driver left with my order (you can track the delivery guys car on UberEats). I ordered a lunch Bento box: Teriyaki Beef that came with rice, 3 pieces of California rolls, a salad, and miss soup. I also got a can of iced tea. The box was good deal for $9.25 (or so I thought) It looked great when it arrived! The positives: -the delivery was super fast (delivered from Fair Lawn to Hackensack in under 30 minutes) -the rice was good -the ginger and wasabi for the sushi were good -the one slice of cucumber in my salad was good -my can of iced tea was good (lol) The negatives: everything else. -the steak was cooked perfectly (medium) but it was super bland and not tender. They definitely did not season or marinate that beef -the onions and few veggies we're okay but not seasoned -the teriyaki sauce was the most bland I've ever had. I had to add salt! I've never had to add salt to a teriyaki dish! -the miso soup was bland and the seaweed in it was "off" -the salad contained a lot of core from the iceberg lettuce, a very mushy tomato, and the ginger dressing was horrible! Super super bland and watered down. My coworker was even shocked. The California roll fell apart as soon as I picked it up. Safe to say I won't be ordering from here again. Maybe they had an "off" day, but I won't risk it by spending my hard earned money here.

Stopped by today to pick up lunch. The inside of the restaurant is clean and decorated like most traditional Japanese restaurants. It was completely empty when I went in at 12:30 to pick up my order which I did via yelp. Overall a simple and seamless process. It said 15-35mins which was about right. I had the 3 rolls special. Eel avocado, salmon avocado and tuna avocado rolls. It also comes with miso soup and salad for $12.25 which is what you will typically pay around here. The sushi was very fresh and the avocados were bright green and melts in your mouth. All together it was a great meal and I will definitely come back again.

Had a terrible experience getting takeout from this place. First off, they forgot one of the items in my order. Second, the food was just not good. Plain and simple. I ordered a few sushi rolls, a chirashi, and an Unagi don. The chirashi was particularly disappointing because there were only 4 types of sashimi (salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and snapper). So no shrimp, no sweet egg, no squid, no eel, etc. In addition, the sashimi was poorly cut and lacking any consistency in size and thickness. The spicy salmon roll I got was also awful. There were tendons and whole chucks of fish in the roll. Some bites were so chewy that my wife had to spit it out.

I always order their Pork Katsudon and I'm always pleased with the size of it! The bowl always has an ample amount of pork katsu and egg and they never seem to try and "skimp" out on the pork portion or egg either. It also comes with BOTH a soup and salad. And all for $11.50! Great deal for your buck! The katsu also has pickles and mushrooms so I love these toppings personally

Not a sushi eater but everyone eating with me seemed to enjoy theirs. I had chicken teriyaki and it was super fresh and cooked well. Nice size portion. Enough for a lunch for me. I'll be back!

Blu Sushi is the perfect mix of deliciousness, affordability, and fantastic service. I've gone there for my lunch around three times these past two weeks and each time I've had a wonderful experience. Their lunch special is super affordable. You can get 2 rolls for the less than I spend for one at many of the other restaurants in Ridgewood. However, despite that, it honestly tastes the best out of many of the places I've gone to. Also, if you are up for spending more, they have a fantastic selection of appetizers and special rolls that you can try again (I recommend the dynamite shrimp). When I go, I normally get the 2 roll option from the lunch menu. Typically, I have the spicy salmon and the spicy tuna rolls when I order that. Regarding those rolls, they are first and foremost delicious. You can tell that fresh their fish is and how much time and dedication they put into their sushi with each bite. Furthermore, they are spicy--but not too spicy. When you have them you are able to enjoy every aspect of the roll without being completely overwhelmed by the spice. Additionally, they add something crunchy to the rolls which take them from just a tasty lunch to a full experience. Most importantly though, the service and ambiance is fantastic. Every time I've been there I've only been treated with kindness and consideration. They are very willing to talk with you about their dishes, share some interesting facts about it (like how they came up with the dynamite shrimp), and more. But the best part about it is that they remember you. That honestly meant a lot to me. I know that this whole review was a lot of me ranting, but I honestly mean it. If you are looking for a nice, quaint, delicious, affordable, and hospitable meal--Blu Sushi is the place for you.

THE FOOD ----------------…read more+ Fried Pork Gyoza - 6 pieces came lightly fried and were good. Definitely could have eaten 10 of these ... myself! + Nabe Yaki Udon Soup Noodle - Solid noodle soup. Lots of ingredients and the broth was just the right level of flavor. = Sushi Regular - Good sushi overall, but the rice was a litttttle too soft to the point that the sushi was falling apart. Fish was very fresh though and presentation was excellent. + Spicy Salmon, Spicy Yellowtail, Spicy Cooked White Fish - Shocked at how good the rolls actually were. There was only 1-2 layers of rice, at most, around the sushi and there was a lot of fish filling for the rolls. Fish was very fresh and delicious. Also, once again, presentation of the entree was excellent. THE SERVICE ------------------- + Friendly waitresses throughout the staff. + Food came out fairly quickly. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------- + Not a huge restaurant, but spacious enough with a few tables for 4 and a few tables for 6. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Came in at around 5:45 PM on a summer Friday evening and it was busy already. We didn't have resys, but some groups did. Assuming they were able to squeeze us in before the dinner resy groups filed in because the restaurant was at capacity by the time we left at 7ish.

Once you sit down you scan a QR Code to order your food and drinks. I was pretty hungry that day so we ended up ordering a ton of food. The drinks were pretty good and they were served in Le Creuset mugs. Not the biggest deal, but I can appreciate some nice drinkware. The bowl of Kimchi Fried rice came out first. It was a generous portion and the rice was cooked well, but I feel like it could've used some more kimchi. The eggs on top were cooked perfectly and added good texture to the dish. The next dish to come out was the HK French toast. The bread was nice and fluffy which paired well with a nice generous drizzle of condensed milk. I enjoyed this a lot. We also ordered scallion pancake, pork barbecue, and bossam baos. These were ok, I would probably pass on a return visit. I felt like the meat in the baos was a little tough though they did have decent flavor. The last entree was the smoked salmon and avocado croissant; I really enjoyed this. It had a generous helping of smoked salmon and avocado as well. The saltiness of the salmon paired well with the creamy and fatty avocado. The croissant was also nice and flaky. It was also served with a house salad which had a nice drizzle of dressing on it too. For dessert we ordered a Black Sesame Souffle Pancake. This was SO good. A few months ago I visited a place in Princeton that specialized in these Japanese-style pancakes and Tasty Junction's version was so much more enjoyable. I loved that it was served with a healthy scoop of ice cream. The pancake was airy and had a bounce to it. Each bite was so good and made even better with the ice cream. I'd definitely come back just for the pancakes. All in all Tasty Junction is a great spot tucked away in Glen Rock
