Really good Middle Eastern food. I came here with a party of 6 on a Saturday afternoon and they were able to accommodate all of us. Beautiful place, a little hard to get to though (right off Broadway, parking is in the back). We had the: Appetizer platter: comes with hummus, baba ganouch, tabouleh salad, falafel, and grape leaves. Very good. Decided to give this place a try for dinner take out and it didn't disappoint. We got chicken shish tawook, lamb shish and a kids chicken kebab. The food was delicious and portions were huge. it's a great deal for the money! I had leftovers for lunch the next day. We have been customers of Roses for many years but due to the abundance of Mediterranean restaurants in the area we have not been to Roses in a while. Always very quaint with little ambiance, the menu stays the same with one waiter taking care of all customer. I had lamb kebabs which was excellent. Went here , after looking at google reviews but wasn't impressed much. Firstly , there is construction in the front and no parking space . Had to go around and park elsewhere . The location isn't really friendly. Secondly, the waiter - no smile and doesn't come to u asking if u need anything . Had to call him thrice for hot sauce and yeah - they don't have hot sauce he also got our order wrong ordered Sheek kabab and he got us some chicken stuff.. Coming to food - it was good and decent portions but very bland . No spice at all. Yearning for Middle Eastern food than then look no further. The restaurant is an oasis, peaceful and immaculately clean. Arabic music played on the sound system low enough to have comfortable conversation. The dining room glowed from the sunshine filtering in. The TVs were off and really unnecessary. Our server was super sweet, warm and funny. Definitely made us feel at home and never kept us waiting. Now as for the cuisine, it was delish! Authentic Lebanese cuisine and so savory that you are guaranteed to finish it all (and the portions are generous). The spreads are incredible, especially the Toum (lookout though it is VERY garlicky). My absolute favorite was the Kufta with Tahini however the Shish Tawook Platter was out of this world! I was here a long time ago originally and I had a bad experience due to the air conditioner there not working but with Covid, I figured I might as well try it as I could eat at home. I was glad I did. Sure there are cheaper places in Paterson and related before the area the prices for the portions wasn't bad at all and the food over always excellent. Food was ordered for 3 and there was enough for leftovers. Along with the dishes ordered, they also gave us a rather large serving of pita as well as the usual spicy pickled turnips and olives you tend to find at Lebanese places along of a couple extra sauces. Appetizers: Foul Madammes: Fava beans w/lemon, garlic, and olive oil. Also spelled Ful medames, this is a hearty appetizer found that a lot of Arabic places (primarily Egyptian.) The large version here had a nice amount of garlic. Spinach pie (Fatayer?): Chopped spinach w/onions in pastry shell. There was a nice sour flavor in there also along with the spinach though I found the pastry a bit under cooked compared to other places. Still good Mains: Kabob Halaby: Spicy broiled kabob served over grilled tomatoes and onions. I ordered this as my main. It was quite a large portion and the meat (lamb and beef mixed I guess but I'm unsure) was very tender. The spiciest thing in here was the pita bread (spiced ma'noushe?) on top which was delicious. The meat which had more of the spicy sauce on it was on top of rice which was cooked fine. Overall the dish was excellent and worth it for the price One of the other two people got a chicken kebab wrap which was pretty large. I tried the chicken which was good. The other person had a beef shish kebab platter which was also well portioned. The beef was nicely tender as well. Luckily for me, this place has my favorite Middle Eastern dessert, knafeh. Knafeh (which is spelled Knefe, Kanafa, and a bunch of different ways depending on surrounding area is cheese topped with semolina (or shredded phyllo dough in most Turkish places) along with honey and rose or orange blossom syrup as well as some crushed pistachios. I opened it up and recognized something very familiar due to the smell/vivid color. I would almost bet money that they buy theirs from someplace in Paterson (Most likely Nablus, Nayef, or Al Basha judging by quality) and to be honest I'm perfectly fine with that. So here's my first experience at Rosa's place! I arrive at 11:35 a.m. on Friday the 13th and place an order for seven lunch platters. I walk out with my food at 12:25 p.m.! 50 minutes to get a small order prepared is longer than I would ever spend anywhere, and I think way too long for anyone that have to spend waiting for food. The fellow at the counter, who seemed to speak next to no English, said " we're busy ". Now on to the food! So liking spicy food, I ordered the Teribali Tawook for myself. I'm thinking it's going to be some nicely marinated spicy chicken. What I get is a piece of unseasoned grilled chicken with some completely tasteless and non-spicy sauce smeared on top! It's a decent size piece of chicken, maybe 6 oz, it's grilled, but dry and basically tasteless! The hummus was fine, and the salad that came with it somewhat bitter. This ordinarily quaint and unassuming restaurant is located inside an old small house. It is hard to find but once you do, there is ample parking around the lot during off peak hours. We were seated immediately and the dining room was cozy and well lit. The Spanish speaking first waiter didn't understand English very well and he quickly stated that the waiter will be right there to help us At first glance, The menu appears very appetizing with Lebanese specialties. The second waiter came up to our table and while very efficient, lacked the courtesy, friendliness or desire to describe the menu when asked questions about ingredients or presentation. Clearly it is "you order, we serve" The starter labneh dip ($5.95) was fantastic, as was the halloumi type cheese stuffed in a grilled pita and cut in triangles ($5.95). Thé tabouli salad ($7.50) was nicely presented, however it lacked tomatoes (below the few diced morsels used as garnish) and lemon juice and it was on the tasteless side- it was mushy..:clearly; it wasn't assembled as you go but came in a previously prepared container; not good. I also indulged in a bowl of lentil soup (3.95) which tasted great, especially when I squeezed a few droplets from the wafer thin lemon wedge garnish, well done! The grape vine leaves ($7.50) appeared made on site but just like the taboulé, they are adequate and not fresh but better than the canned variety. With all this food, we decided to share a vegetarian main which consisted of diced eggplants with onions, tomatoes and garlic served with a fire grilled tomato wedge and vermicelli rice ($11.95). The waiter didn't describe the dish well, we didn't understand the small container of liquid sour cream that accompanied the plate, probably something no amount of Zantac, tums or pepto could appease if consumed as suggested. The presentation of the platter was great but the eggplant cubes tasted like they were deep fried in fish oil residue and emitted a disgusting nauseating smell, we didn't eat any of it We still decided to go for dessert and the piece of baked baklava ($3.50) appeared by its hot crust that it just came out of an oven, it was delicious and not too sweet; the milk custard ($3.50) came in a plastic Tupperware type container but was adequate tasting...nothing we would order again. Very nice touch when it came down to the hot tea; it didn't come in a kettle, but the clear glass contained a Lipton tea bag and at least 5 fresh mint leaves which gave the tea a very nice flavor. Rose's has a lot of potential for serving adequately priced good Lebanese dishes in this part of New Jersey. Sadly, the style of the "you order we serve" service cheapens the entire experience. The lunch special at Rose's Place are a great deal - Wraps and Fries ($6-8), Wraps and Salad ($7.50-9), and Platters from ($9.50-12.50). The platter, which includes rice, salad, and hummus, is a steal. Complimentary pita and pickled vegetables/olives were also served to the table. BYOB is the best part! However, the mains are average. I've been here a couple times and have had shish kabob, kufta, and shawarma. The shish kabob could have been more tender and the kufta, more flavorful. The shawarma was dry. I found myself enjoying the drippings-soaked, rice pilaf and fresh tomato/cucumber salad as much as the entree. Even the water was off. Tonight we tried out this Lebanese restaurant for the 1st time as it was closed to the house and recommended by a friend for being quaint. Really good Mediterranean food. Probably the best babaganoush I ever had. Loved all the appetizers. Especially the fried eggplant which had a little spice to it! For my main I had the chicken and rice and a side cucumber tomato salad. The chicken had a little too much lemon or vinegar marinade for my liking but was still delicious. Service was not good. The server was not pleasant and very overwhelmed at the size of our large party. Granted we had more kids then adults so I can't blame him but every ask he was visibly annoyed....even before everyone arrived. They didn't put the Togo containers in plastic bags so of course my leftovers spilled all over my Gucci bag on the way out and now it smells like a salad with grease stains. The women's restroom toilet seat was atrociously disgusting. Overall excellent food at a great price. Food is always on point. One of the best examples of Lebanese cuisine you can find outside the middle east in my opinion. Meats are always cooked perfectly and moist. They do not have all the traditional favorites but what they do have will knock your socks off. Favorites are Tabouli, Hummus with pine nuts, Labne, Shish Tawook, and Shish Kabob. The Zaatar salad is not a common dish at a resturaunt but is a must try. The restaurant is sadly severely understaffed and the one man inside who knows the menu well is severely overworked. A coworker recommended this place to me when I told him I was looking for a nice place to go for lunch with my husband. We both love Lebanese food, so we figured we'd try it and we're glad we did. The location on Broadway is a bit odd because it's in an old house and their parking is atrocious, but once you're inside it's worth it. We ordered hummus to share and I had a shish kabob sandwich. An Open Letter To Rose, Please Do Something About Your Staff! I have been a loyal patron of your restaurant for quite some time and have spent a kings ransom eating your great food and generously tipping the staff. That said, I find myself making excuses not to come here due to the terrible service. One of your waiters (Jose) is rude, lazy and could care less about your restaurant. In addition, he makes excuses for the back of the house so they can slack off instead of doing their jobs. Here is just one example I enjoy the grilled chicken however 70% of the time I order it he tells me "it will take 45 minutes" or "we don't have it". I called him on it twice and both times it really took 45 min. and it was angrily served! I have overheard other patrons try ordering it and the same story, diners have asked him how it could possibly take so long and he stands there with a blank look on his face. Rose when you walk through the door they all snap to attention. Perhaps put in cameras and some of the staff won't be so careless with your customers, your restaurant is suffering from this behavior. read more

I have driven by this place many a times and been telling myself that I want to check it out, since its one of the only reasonable looking restaurants in my town. Today for father's day I finally got the chance to do so. We arrived here a little after 2 and the place was packed. For some reason I thought the restaurant was going to be bigger but it looks relatively small from inside, maybe it is not the space itself that is tiny but the fact that there were quite a lot of tables crammed into that space. There was no host so I ended up asking a waiter by the register for a table. Luckily, there was one table for four available and we were seated there.The menu offers a good amount of choices, cold and hot appetizers, salads,soups, entrees, specials and some more. Between us four we ordered the Schawarma platter, Terbiali Kabob, Terbiali Tawook, Tabouli Salad and Fried Eggplant. I did not realize that the Schawarma dish was beef instead of my usual choice, being chicken, so I did not like my dish so much.Either way, it was pretty good and came with rice and a side of tahini. Both Terbiali dishes were good but pretty damn spicy. The Tabouleh was pretty good and quite large. I would say we all enjoyed our dishes and were very satisfied with them. The service on the other hand was quite bad. We ordered two cokes and got one. Our water was rarely filled, something that my dad and brother suffered from because they each had a spicy dish.The food took a long time to get to our table, my mother's salad was the last to arrive at the table which was somewhat odd. Another yelper said to expect the whole experience to take an hour and a half and that was an accurate estimate. After all I would say I had a positive experience here. The food was good, the prices were reasonable and the space is very nice with formica like table tops, pretty quiet middle eastern music playing and beautiful wall decorations. It's really a 3.5 but I'm rounding up. Rose's Place was recommended for Lebanese from my sister-in-law's doctor who is Armenian. It's BYOB and located in what appears to be a small house turned restaurant. Saturday night it was very very busy and my party of five waited about five minutes so the waiters could set up a table. There's nothing special about the decor-some pictures of Lebanon here and there but there was a soccer match on TV which didn't really make it seem much of anything. Service was slow but mind you this is the type of place and food where you sit, relax, talk, enjoy and drink some coffee, tea, wine, whatever and enjoy some conversation with your party. The entire staff there was Hispanic (there were two guys holding up the fort in the dining room!!) and I didn't have a problem with that. They were very friendly although like I said, it was busy so they couldn't attend to us right away. We asked a few questions about the menu-one of them didn't speak enough English to respond but he promptly got his colleague out to help us. Now I'm not a stranger to Lebanese food so I wasn't expecting anything spectacular. Looking at the menu, they had Bureks (which are popular foods in my husband's culture-Balkan) and typical Middle Eastern type dishes. I did notice they had some Armenian dishes and wondered if this is why the Dr. recommended this place. Interesting. Anyway, we weren't too hungry so we got the fattosh salad-typical salad with crispy crunchy fried pita (basically like a crouton). It was excellent with the lettuce, onions and tomatoes playing nicely with the crunchy bread. There was a generous amount of olive oil and you can tell it was nice quality olive oil. The hummus with pine nuts was excellent-home made and tasted great with the pita bread. I was reading that some people didn't like the pita bread, basically complaining it was from a bag but I found it to be very tasty. Also, they give you pickled veggies which tasted good together with everything. An order of mixed grill with rice. Rice was a bit oily but tasted good, there was chicken, lamb and beef and we ordered it medium-well. The kabab type meat tasted good but wasn't the best I've had although I have to say the rest of the meat was very very tender. It came with some grilled tomatoes, onions and a yogurt sauce for the meat that had wayyy too much garlic on it. We also ordered a vegetarian meal of eggplant and tomatoes over rice. This dish was excellent although a bit oily. The eggplant was fried and had an awesome crunch to it and tasted good mixed with the rice We ordered a mixed grill to go so the rest of the family who couldn't make it could sample it and it was devoured and tasted good. The Lebanese coffee was really bitter. The in-laws always drink Turkish coffee as part of their culture and I was expecting to be more like that. Maybe it was the way it was roasted but it was very bitter and tasted a bit burnt. We also ordered some tea which was very standard. Overall, I enjoyed Rose's and would come here again. read more

Consistently good food. Here's the breakdown: Location: 2 stars. Very easy-to-miss entrance off of a busy street. You have to turn in before you even see the restaurant (there's a tiny sign to let you know to turn but you won't see it unless you're looking). Service: 5 stars. The server is always friendly. I do pickup and rarely have to wait, the food is usually ready and the guy at the register is friendly, fast, and always gets our order right. Also he always includes the right amount of utensils and sides. No complaints. Food: 4 stars. Very consistent! We always get the Friday special and order chicken kabobs that come with plenty of rice, and a side of hummus and tomato and cucumber salad. The hummus is very seasoned, but I highly enjoy the spices and the consistency. Not too thick, not too loose and oily. Just right. Price: 4 stars. While driving from NJ back to CT, we decided to stop at Rose's for lunch today. The appetizer (meze) platter was very yummy. I rarely find a restaurant that makes hummus as good as I do (I'm so modest!!) with lots of lemon in it. The hummus at Rose's tasted like mine! Very rare. The tabouli was good and had almost no bulgur in it; it was all parsley. Fine with me. The fresh lemonade was very good and the large piece of baklava was terrific. The one BIG NEGATIVE was that the falafels were fried in stinky fishy oil (I am a strict vegetarian) and I was sickened by the smell and taste. My friend had to eat mine.
