This is at least the third time this year I have come to this shop and they were closed during their posted hours. When you post your hours from 11AM-8PM, you better be there. Today I came here a little after 2PM on a Saturday and found a hand written sign saying they will be back between 2:30-3pm. This is very frustrating when I drive 15 min craving a bubble tea to find I can't get one. If you want to guarantee service during posted hours and get a delicious bubble tea just drive the 20 min to tea break in west hartford. I am very tempted to give 1 star, but decided to add one because they do make decent bubble tea when you can get one. read more

Very cute place. My wife and I visited since we were in the area. We dropped by to get some bubble tea. There weren't a lot of customers, but only the owner was around, so we had to wait a little as she finished up with her other customers. We didn't mind much; it gave us a chance to look through their extensive menu. In the end, I got a matcha grass jelly tea and she got a earl grey bubble tea. The grass jelly was homemade and was silky smooth. The tea was delicious too. The bubbles in my wife's bubble tea were a little softer than preferred, but it was also rather late in the day and she got the last bit of the bubbles. The tea, however, was great. Perfect balance of earl grey and creamer. We noticed that the store was also selling pierogies, dumplings, and bao. We didn't get any but the plate of dumplings that the owner brought out for one of her customers looked pretty delicious. The owner was really sweet as we talked to her about her store. I had been meaning to go to Mei Tea for a month and a half and so there were some high expectations. I visited around 5:00PM and waited 35 minutes to place my order (there were 2 parties of 2 and 3 people respectively before me). I have to say, it was a LONG wait. Then, I heard that there is no boba (or tapioca pearls) when the customer ahead of me was ordering. Huge disappointment. So I order a matcha vanilla milk tea with grass jelly at 50% sweetness. It comes out in less than 5 minutes (yay!)!and at my first sip, I sunk into disappointment again. The matcha might have been good, maybe even great! But please, do not mix vanilla with anything- maybe forego that flavor at all costs. It tastes like the artificially sweet vanilla protein powder and that is all you'll taste. Matcha and grass jelly are inherently very subtle flavors and tastes, so maybe it was the worst combo I picked, but it was a sad 40 minute $4 and something cents experience altogether. I may return to try something else... Hopefully with boba... But I might not. read more

The tea is really good. Sometimes I find that some places have hard tapioca or isn't cooked right but this place has really good tapioca. Sometimes they do run out before they close so I suggest that if you love tapioca to go before 6 but there are so many options so it's so hard to choose. I also found out that you can mix flavors which is really cool and interesting because I've never experienced mango passionfruit fruit tea before but it is sooo good. The customer service is so good if you have any questions they answer so nicely and genuinely try to answer. Also their dumplings are so so good. I love how they taste. If you look around bubble tea is made everywhere. We have been eyeing Mei tea for sometime but we were Leary of a lone bubble tea shop in Plainville. We got to Mei just minutes before closing. She was kind enough to keep the store opened for us. We tried five different varieties. Now that we know what bubble tea should be we can never go anywhere else! Perfection! The bubbles were all at the right consistency, the sweetness of the base tea set to personal preference, and the strength of the tea was outstanding even at a he end of the day.
