It was feeling like y2k yesterday at Meijer! Tons of people scrambling to stock up for the winter storm which never showed! I was in for regular grocery shopping and was kind of surprised by this. The service of the store is what prompts me to write this review today. You can tell the staff was under pressure with the surge of customers that may not have been expected but they were very helpful and even check the back room for items that were off the shelf! Which was a heckuva task considering some items were cleaned off the shelves completely. Odd experience. Happy winter! read more

First off, let me say that Meijer is an excellent store. It's a one-stop shop for just about anything you need. And it's open 24 hours, 364 days a year (they close on Christmas), so it's there when you need it. And the prices are usually lower than other stores. This store in particular is a great branch. It's usually well stocked, and if I can't find something, the employees are easy to find and very helpful (good attitudes). As previous reviews compare Meijer to Walmart, I'll say that it's always a struggle to find people to help me at Walmart. When I was moving, I came here a few times to get boxes. Even in the middle of the night, the employees were nice and willing to help. I would normally give Meijer 5 stars, but I had to dock a star because of a pretty bad experience I had recently at the pharmacy. (I'm hoping it's a one-off, so I'm not taking off more stars). I had to pick up a prescription cold medication. First, I had to wait 15-20 minutes in line just to drop off the prescription (I'm willing to let it go as maybe it was just a horribly busy time). The lady at the counter was very nice and said I should come back in 30 minutes to pick it up. There was a little confusion about my insurance, but she clarified and put it in the system (or so I thought). I did some shopping (at Meijer) and came back in 30 minutes. There I waited another 15 minutes in line to ask someone if my prescription was ready. I was ok until this point. The person at the counter told me my prescription was ready, but did I have insurance? I said yes, and that I had given it to the lady at the counter when I dropped off the prescription. He looked confused for a minute and got my insurance info again. He politely asked me to step aside while they sort it out. 20 minutes later, I'm still waiting for my prescription, and by now the line had cleared. I went up to the counter again, and the person says that someone is on the phone with my insurance and they'll call me when they are ready. Another 20 minutes went by... Finally, I got my prescription, and headed home. On the way, I opened the box and looked in. There was suppose to be a card with 3 pills. The card I had gotten had one pill, and two pills popped out. Seriously?! From a legitimate pharmacy?! Moral of the story: 1) The pharmacists (or people behind the pharmacy counter) are nice, but slow. 2) They don't have a good system to call people when their prescriptions are ready. 3) Always check your the prescriptions (and count your pills!) in case someone at the pharmacy is siphoning drugs. read more

In general I like Meijer a lot. They have everything you could possibly need. The gas is usually cheaper than other places. This Meijer often runs out of produce and doesn't restock right away. For example today they were out of ginger. I wouldn't recommend shopping on Sunday or Monday here. read more

I like Meijer quite a bit. This location is a little smaller than some but still had a good selection. Don't shop late on Sundays or Mondays, the shelves aren't as well stocked. Good local beer selection and great organic options which I really like. I had one cashier give me a very hard time about buying some liquor, asking me questions about my ID and such. Yes do your job, but you aren't the TSA. I'm 31 not 21, sheesh. read more

this Meijer seems to lower their clearance prices quicker than the Wixom store

I had valid identification for buying liquor and proof that I was over 40, but the check-out operator did not use the "No" option on the register... I asked what made me "under"? And she just went by my appearance instead of reading the date, as that is what the law should state... Management was even called, but could not reason how wrong this practice is... "Under 40" is not a true statement! Am I supposed to tape a year that's a decade younger over my actual birth year? Should I send a younger person in to buy my liquor for me? I have always gone to this Meijer and has always had everything I needed. Today though, I had to come write my first Yelp review ever, because I was so beyond impressed with the store. It was like the pictures you see online of perfectly organized and straight and filled rows of food, even the produce section! All the stock was filled and it was so perfectly organized!!! I love this Meijer and do the bulk of my grocery shopping at this location. The prices are excellent, and the items that I need and want and always available. Plus, the store has most other non-grocery items that my family needs, so I can do one-stop shopping. I love that! My only criticism, and what prevents me from awarding five stars, is that it takes forever to checkout and pay. The lines are long and there are often times not enough checkout lanes open, which causes the long lines. But I put up with the longer lines and slower checkout becasue the prices and inventory are excellent! read more

The majority of the checkout people are very unfriendly! I got removed from the 15 items or less lane because I ended up having 16 items. Then had to take my stuff off the scanning belt and go to another lane while shopping with a toddler! Plus the more I would spend the harder it was to get MPerks. Instead of being rewarded for being a loyal customer they wanted me to spend more, originally 150.00 a month to 450.00! No thanks, Kroger fuel points and discounts are a much better incentive! Oh and the customer service is much better! read more

Bags in produce are never filled, checkout lines are always long and the store seems understaffed. Is Meijer hitting hard times?

My family and I shop here out of convenience as they're open 24 hours and usually have what we need. When we shop later in the evening, the store isn't as busy. It's the time when the staff is restocking everything and you have to maneuver through pallets parked around the store. The layout is a bit weird, the store doesn't flow too well. For example, you can buy live fish right next to the juices! And in between you can return your bottles. The store could use a reset of their layout and product displays. As for the food quality, they have a large selection of produce and vegetables, which are great. However, their organic selection is limited. They have every basic item you could possibly need for your kitchen, bath, and laundry. There is a nice selection for your toiletries and even decorative housewares. I would probably stop here if we forgot anything the night before a trip. There is a slew of registers to check out from, but 99% of the time they're closed. This is even when we shop in the middle of the day. You are forced to use the self check out with all your items. When I have 1 or 2 things, which is rare here, that isn't a big deal. But when I'm stuck behind someone with a cart full of groceries taking 15 minutes to check out, I'd rather shop elsewhere. When I have a cart full of groceries, I'd like to go to a cashier. For the most part, we are able to get what we need when we come here. It isn't our first choice for a reason. If they make minor updates to the store and organic food selection, we would shop here more. read more

Worst experience at any retail store ever! They have advertising tags on shelfing units that display prices for products on that shelf. The problem is that most of the products on the shelf don't have individual pricetags on them and they are all DIFFERENT prices! When claiming that this was false advertising, a manager attempted to thwart my accusation by promptly removing the advertised price. Unbelievable. read more
