I placed a pick up order to be ready by 5 pm. When I arrived at the store at 5, it was not ready. By 5:30 it was still not ready. The person doing pick up orders also had no hustle despite 5 other cars waiting for pick up orders. The store never contacted me to tell me they were running late. I shop the Greenfield store on Layton Ave. Usually fresh produce, but was a bit disappointed in the last sale of Strawberries, they were very bitter and tasteless and I purchased 2 boxes because they were on sale. I also purchased some raspberries which were all runny and sticky, made a mess in the fridge. Otherwise I am really happy with the overall shopping experience. Like the fresh meat counter, the wide selection of cheese. Great frozen section. Sales are usually great or meet the same price as Walmart. And the customer service at the checkouts are very friendly and helpful. Slow service at the service counter, 1 girl working the service desk and a line of customers for a return. And last , wish there were fitting rooms for clothing dept instead of having to spend money on gas for returns. I will continue to shop at Meijers as long as their prices match or fairly compare to walmart. Clean and competitive pricing are what brings me back. read more

This isn't my main store to grocery shop, but it does have a few items that I have trouble finding at other places. The parking lot is HUGE, and more spacious than this store requires. The store itself is large, but is departmentalized appropriately. I still can't get over a store that sells live bait, clothing, electronics, live animals, and raw meat all in one space, but that's the Midwest, I guess..... They aren't crazily overpriced, but you'd still be doing yourself a favor by waiting for a sale, unless it is something you desperately need. Learn to use the self checkout, if you want to get in and out quicker. It is easy, and the line goes incredibly fast. The service desk workers have always been friendly and helpful, on the rare occasions that I've needed to speak with them, as have all of the staff. After a horrible experience with the pickup at the Oak Creek location (got someone elses order and still got charged for mine) I was sure I would never use their pick up service again. Much less shop at Meijer. I used return vouchers. Instead, I gave their delivery option a try. It's run by a separate company, Shipt. I still placed my order on the app. And the order picker texted me a few times to let me know the progress of my order. I was able to choose a time about a hour away and make changes to my order before picking. My order was about 25 items and there is a fee of $7.95.. This went way smoother than pick up. My delivery time was 11 to 12 and she was here by 11:15. I also opted for substitutions but got everything I needed. read more

Experienced racism and discrimination) I'm kind of new to Meijers started going since Thanksgiving last year. I have been there about 4/5 times now. Up to this point I've had a pleasant experience, they have great deals with the good variety. Long story short I had quite a few items in my car that were pretty big so I went to self checkout and was helped by the lady running the area. She was very helpful by the way. Even put pink stickers on the bigger items of course for security purposes which I was all for. As I'm walking out I get stopped by a Caucasian male with a big attitude demanding to see my receipt. I handle my receipt with no problem, he snatched it out of my hands aggressively & looked it over and was satisfied that he saw every item in my cart on the receipt. Then it dawns on me there's lots of people walking past him with cartfuls and he's not asking any of them for a receipt nor did he ask my sister who I was with that looks totally opposite to me she has green eyes and white skin where I have dark skin and dark brown eyes ( I look very indigenous) I feel very singled out! He totally racially profiled me! It really sucks because I am so bothered! I hold two jobs and everything I had in my car was literally clearance items. It was very embarrassing to have everyone just look at me like I was some type of crook! Very unprofessional and unacceptable!!! I asked a few other shoppers if they were ever asked for the receipts before and they all said no. Including my sister who loves the store and was the one who introduced me. Another thing that bothered me is even if you were going to ask for my receipt why couldn't you do it politely? Everyone else was greeted and wish farewell politely. The Meijer store on 5800 W Layton is back to blocking ALL electronic wheelchair carts. Background: January 5, 2020, the bully of a greeter, had lined up all the carts and blocked them in with the infant seat shopping cart.  He was even grouchy enough to fuss to his co-workers that someone had ruined his organization by moving the infant cart to get to an electronic cart. Yesterday, March 5, 2021: ALL of the electronic wheelchair carts were back in military formation and ALL were officially un-usable because of charging.  I'm not claiming quality photography, but you'll see in the attached pictures, the proof of this ridiculous situation. The signs say UNWELCOME to any customer who can't walk the giant store with concrete flooring. Ok now im officially done with Meijer on Layton. This is third time this month we take something to register pay for it than come home its not in bags. First time i thought i misplaced it it was only buns so i just didn't bother second time i got to car and was missing steaks that i went back for thought i left at register went back get it and it was not there Went to desk they fed me bunch of hype trying to say i lost it between registers and car. Manager refunded cost steaks making it sound like the whole time i was pulling something. I also like the outdoor and fishing area, and have gotten a nice deal on an Ugly Stik rod when needing to supplement my fishing gear. Adequate fresh fruit and veggies in the grocery section, and craft beer cooler is okay. Prices are pretty good at this Meijer, but on a recent visit a checker made me feel like I was the one in the wrong when a $3.99 item on clearance rang up at $9.99. Hey, that's great that you're making your customers feel bad about your store's failures in marking or pricing items, no need for that! Wholly fu#k this store has redeemed the Meijer brand that the Wauwatosa location ruined so I have to add them to yelp and leave a review. I have given up on the Wauwatosa deli because of the I don't give a Fu#k, stop bother me and I'm going to ignore you so you will walk away attitude so I don't even bother with the deli, the whole store attitude is like that when you ask for help. Right away as I walked in I got a hello from the greeter and at least half of the employees that I walked past said hello or can I help you find something, right off the bat your getting a good vibe unlike the Wauwatosa store. I was dreading going to the deli here totally expecting a crap experience but at least 5 people asked to help me while I was there and I was helped right away. I immediately asked to talk to the deli manager and explained the Wauwatosa store and thanked her for a job well done by her department and told her that I will be used this store. I actually got more deli items here than I intended because they were so helpful and the woman helping me told me that this is what I can expect so start so start using this location. The staff is better trained at this location and way friendlier which was a night and day difference and just blew me away. I'm sad to say that the crap Wauwatosa store is on work drive so I will have to use them from time to time but if I'm not at work I will definitely use this location. Ok the store it self is basically a different super Walmart, the one stop shop with everything in one place. Mega Mega I went here while shopping for a luncheon at work. I got everything I needed while here including deals on items I would have gotten at different stores but then I would have many 2-3 additional stops. Clean, items were easy to find which made me happy.. their avocados were pretty good got a total of 15 $25 (this was back in June). Sweet deals on their water and juices overall happy I stopped here. Meijers has the potential to be a really good grocery store. However, it has significant management and "people " problems. The Wauwatosa location was really bad, and I refuse to go back there. Greenfield is the closest to me, and they have gotten better over time. Still, this is one of two store chains that regularly make major mistakes (always overcharging) at checkout. Customer "service " has been very poor most of the time. Most recently, if you get overcharged, no one is around to help, so they tell you to come back the next day. This has happened to me at least 4 times over the past 4 years. I like the Oak Creek store much better. It is cleaner and better managed. Customer service there has been fine. I want Meijers to succeed and I hope they do. Their prices are still too high, and a strength - their meat department-- has slipped lately (price hikes and dumb promotions). Who wants Bo get one at 40%. Just mark it as 20% off and I will buy what I want. And don't do the markup to maximum price, and apply a bogus BOGO. Yes, it fools some customers, but it makes most of us look at Meijers with disdain. So folks, it's a mixed performance. They have good prices on staples like milk and eggs, a lot of selection in produce, but with mixed quality (ranging from very fresh to rotting on the shelf). Some nice sales at times (although some are bogus). They have the worst bakery in Milwaukee. Ok perhaps a tie at the bottom with Walmart, but who goes to Walmart?? To win in Milwaukee, you have to have competitive prices and make the customer feel valued. It is a volume business, and building customer loyalty is how you win. So why are most stores refusing to compete? The stores that achieve those two things over time will win the grocery wars. We don't need more stinking Sendik's. So I walked into meijer at 9 AM today, was waiting for my friend to come in so started talking respectfully to the meijer greeter in the wheel chair by the door, I was asking her about a product, of course there was a story about it, I was trying to be nice. A big male employee came up and was totally rude to me! He told me to stop talking to her, I just replied "I'm waiting for my friend and was asking something" but the man interrupted me to yell at me "let her work"............... I replied "ok whatever" and walked out to get my friend. WAIT a store greeter's job is to answer questions and be nice to customers right? After a very long day at work I grabbed a random credit card off the counter and rushed off to Meijer with my wife and two young kids for a quick grocery run. Needless to say, after ringing up my $200+ cart full of family food & diapers, my credit card cleared for all but $9 & change. OOPS! I was sure I had enough money on there but for whatever reason there was $10 remaining and the card was maxed out. Utterly embarrassed, I attempted to return an item, from my cart... But the manager said they would need to void the payment. I STOPPED THEM CONCERNED, because if my cards is maxed out and the funds are held, then my entire $200 bill would now be declined for a second go around. Stupid me for not bringing the right form of payment or a backup .... But I was in an extreme pickle! After a few seconds of awkward silence and not knowing what to do, the young lady working behind the cash register named "Schynitha" quietly said excuse me and walked around the counter and proceeded to use her personal credit card for the remaining $10 ballance! Jaw dropping, I humbly thanked her and said I would make a quick return at customer service and give her the $10 back. She responded, "it's ok, that's not necessary, don't worry about it". Wow what an amazing human being!!! I have no idea where Meijer found Schynitha, but she is an ABSOLUTE asset that deserves to be recognized and highly praised for her selflessness, phenomenal customer service & kind character! Was here grabbing dinner and an elderly customer next to me is having a medical emergency, question cardiac arrest. Elderly husband trying to prevent her from falling out of her chair. Store manager and husband are the only people around. I stick by-monitoring the need to catch her (prevent head injury), CPR (code status?), assist husband, etc. Store manager (big guy with lots of rings) seemed outwardly annoyed with my presence and made several efforts to shoe me away. Kept telling me to "just go buy your cheese". Although quite willing to take charge, he clearly had no idea what he was doing. Perhaps stand your large body on the side she is falling towards? Meijer has good prices and quality foods. This location is clean and has friendly employees. The selection, from groceries to clothing to home goods, is all excellent. I appreciate being able to purchase necessities in addition to groceries without needing to make a separate stop. Their meat and produce and consistently better than Woodman's lately (unfortunately), and the prices are comparable. We recently purchased some oranges that went bad within a couple of days, and we were refunded with no questions asked. I appreciated they were willing to make things right, and I would recommend Meijer above other grocery stores in the area. read more

The deli was next with also a good selection with reasonable prices. This place is huge. It has everything from food, to office supplies to clothes. I primarily wanted to grocery shop. I refuse to shop in this store anymore. I get consistently rude behavior and nasty attitudes from most cashiers and baggers. They act like they're doing you a favor checking and bagging your groceries. Last time I was there a clerk was yelling at an old man who needed assistance in the self checkout line and I got double charged for one of my items. Yes right now some stuff are not on shelves and it bums me out too but this place is clean and things aren't usually haphazardly thrown in the wrong area and its maintained. They have good produce,deli and grocery items as well as household and health and beauty, clothes and shoes . A grocery store and department store in one. One thing is it takes a little time to get your orders from the deli thats one of the downfalls.They have a reward coupon card called M perks to get coupons and sometimes free items of the week go to their website to sign up.Prices are pretty fare. So Meijer should get a higher rating, because I shop there often. This is for their butcher shop. I wanted to purchase 7 lbs of beef round, sliced against grain, in 1/8th inch slices at $3.99 a lb What I got was 3.5 lbs of 1/4 inch slices, sliced with the grain at $4.49 a lb. And a twenty minute wait. Let me step back. I started this in the morning. I went in, asked if I could get round cut as I said, 1/8th inch slices, cut against the grain, I wanted 7 lbs and I showed them a package of round. They wrote it down carefully and said it would be ready end of day. After work i come by and I ask about my order. The person manning the meat area stared at me as if I were an alien and said "he didn't know anything about that." I explained what I had ordered and he told me the butcher would be back in 20 minutes. So I wasted 20 minutes waiting for the butcher to show. I didn't notice it was cut with the grain or the price until checkout. I purchased it at that price because it wasn't worth the hassle to fight it. When I got home and tried to make jerky I noticed it was cut with the grain. This makes for touch, almost inedible jerky. I found a work around for it, but next time I am going to go to a butcher shop. I don't want to pay 2/lb more for it, but to ensure I get good service I may have to read more

This is our household's new go-to store! We used to go to that other grocery store in the area, but it definitely seemed to be going downhill fast. As soon as Meijer opened, we went in to check it out. We sign up for their Mperks right off the bat, and I also downloaded the app to my phone. With Mperks we have saved a pretty decent amount of money already, and I love being able to add coupons to our account via the app so we don't have to carry them around with us while out and about. We usually check out the entire store whenever we go in, even if we are just grocery shopping. There are deals to be had all over the place! read more

First of all there have been complaints about slow service, dirty check out lanes, etc. That's all bullshit. The store is MASSIVE, so expect a few slow checkouts and services. It's not all about you, people. Prices, do your home work first and check the advertising plus get the mPerks app for your phone. Using it in combination with the store specials you can save a few extra bucks. Now for the store itself. Clean and well organized and easy to find products in the store. Not all sales are a bargain and if you are watching your spending, do the math first before picking up that special deal. Drive 25 mins out of my way to use this Meijer because it has always been a clean and friendly store to shop in. Today they lost a customer for life! At the check out I had a cashier that was more worried about everything else going on around her. I had 30 items and transaction took over 20 mins to ring up (not including time I waited in line) because she was watching everyone walk by and talking to people around her. I wasn't going to make a big deal about it until I got home and realized $40 of my $103 purchase was not in the bags. I called the store to see if they saved my items at guest service since they were not perishable items. I waited on the phone for 45 mins for the lady on the phone to tell me she doubts they have it at guest service and I can come back to the store to pick out the items or get a refund. SERIOUSLY??? I was waiting in line to check out & there was an item that didn't have a price tag on it and the cashier asked how much it was and she put it to the side. I thought she was going to double check on the price well she kept scanning my stuff and slamming everything and she even put some of my food items on the ground and kept telling me me hurry up and grab stuff and I was trying to go as fast as I could but she kept making me rush. Very disappointed because I had a coupon for $5.25 off Pampers diapers count of 72 to 148 and when I bought diapers with a 78 count in the size variety that the coupon specified they didn't take the coupon for the $5.25 off because it needed to be a different box a giant box and apparently just because the size and the quantity and the variety match doesn't mean that you get the coupon for 5.25 off ridiculous. read more

My review is focusing on Meijer's home delivery service . They use the crowdsourcing app, Shipt. In order to use home delivery from Meijer you need to sign up for the service. It costs $99 per year. You do get a 14 day trial period. All orders over $30 are not charged a delivery fee. Here is how it works. You sign up for the service. You select the items you are wanting to buy. You select a 1 hour time frame for delivery. Your shopping list is sent to a shopper employed by Shipt. They go find your items in the store, purchase them, and deliver them to you. I needed to use service last summer when I was having some problems walking long distances. I used it again this week when I was ill and unable to be out in the community. What I really liked is that the shopper that is assigned to you keeps you updated while they are getting your order together. If the store is out of an item you are looking for they tell you what is available instead. For example, a few days ago I wanted strawberries. The shopper sent me a text saying the strawberries that were left did not look fresh. I had him pick up blueberries instead. Also, if you want to add an item at the last minute, just let them know, and they will add it to your order.-because sometimes a girl needs gummi bears-They are polite, courteous, bring my groceries to the door, and even helped me get them upstairs a few times. Alcoholic beverages cannot be purchased for delivery using Shipt. Getting the one year of service was worth it for me because I did use it several times. I think that if you need/want to get grocery delivery just a few times a year then it might not make sense. I also think being a shopper for Shipt would be a great "side hustle". I have not tried any other grocery delivery service, so this review is based solely on my experiences with Meijer and Shipt. read more
