Took my car to the Gloucester, MA location for oil and filter change. Skip ahead; I always check for the work done as soon as I return home. Sure enough, the oil was replaced - and that was it. I saw the old oil filter was still intact. Brought the car back and was told the technician was a young kid who couldn't find the filter. What? A big lie because I saw the liar as the one who worked on the car. I would never, ever return to a Meineke shop, and would never recommend their attempted work to anyone. read more

My wife and I have been a customer at Meineke Gloucester for years, but will never return again. I brought my recently inspected, newly purchased vehicle with 30k on it for a simple oil change, and they gave me a list of updates that the car needed, all of which were bs. For example, they told me I need new windshield wipers, after I had just got new ones installed a month before. They did the same to my wife, charging up for two new wipers needlessly, and a filter that had just been installed recently. DO NOT TRUST Meineke Gloucester. Take your business elsewhere. read more

Everything about my experience was horrid & terrible. The owner acted as if he couldn't be bothered to help anyone. His attitude screamed of a man who hates his life. When I mentioned I had an appointment he reluctantly took my information, coupon, and keys. Yet he barely listened & told he even though I had an appointment he wasn't sure he would be able to do all I had requested when I made my appointment (oil change & check on broken headlight). I ended up having to call back to determine that my vehicle was done & ready (a consistent problem with this shop). When I got there they were not only unable to determine the issue but they stopped looking and charged me for the incomplete repair. I will never go to this location or another Meineke again. The owner is super nice and doesn't make you feel like you're stupid... He is honest and doesn't try to sell you things that you don't need. I would highly recommend this location. The waiting room is clean and comfortable. He has done tires, brakes, oil changes and other things for my daughter's car and has never steered us wrong! Bought four tires which were recommended by them the car never drove the same after installing the tires had them re-balance twice by Meinicke and a different garage and the tires still didn't ride well. asked to change the tires to a different brand and was told there was nothing they could do, whereas other tire dealers have a 45 day window for satisfaction. purchased a different brand of tire and all the problems are gone. Now I'm stuck with four tires for $870 not too happy read more

I made an appointment for brake inspection on line--convenient and easy! They took my car right in, did the inspection and let me know what they found and gave me an estimate. I wasn't surprised because I had been given the information elsewhere when I had other work done. The cost at Meineke was a whole lot better and the service was excellent and timely. ***READ*** DO NOT GO TO GLOUCESTER BRANCH. I normally don take the time to write negative reviews, however, this was an eye opening experience for my fiancé and I. To be honest, I've always feared fraudulent activities happening from these franchised auto repair shops but never really thought this stuff actually happens. Well, it does.. my fiancé gets her oil changes there very often, loves the "convenience". Well, not so convenient when we get check engine lights and oil lights coming on. Long story short. My fiancé had n original oil filter from Volkswagen after her oil change(s). She went to Volkswagen in 2016... it is now 2018. The oil had chunks of metal in it( never a good sign)! I addressed the issue and the branch manager acknowledged it and told me to come back the next morning to talk to the owner. So I did, and the owner had ZERO empathy for what their technician did. In fact, the OWNER told me that the filter didn't look old?! ( falling apart) They paid my bill from another mechanic and brushed me off. Here is a thought? How many customers are they doing this too? How many times do people really check their filters?! I'm disgusted. Never ever bring your car there, please. Just do yourselves a favor and spend the extra 15-20 for an oil change. This wasn't a mistake... this is real. read more

This place is an absolute rip off!!Have been to this place twice, both times I have gone in for a standard oil change and they have tried to swindle me into buying more stuff that they say is emergent. This time they tried to tell me the right front ball joint was very loose and it was an emergency to fix or my tire would collapse under my car. Took my car to another shop for a second opinion and that shop said NOTHING was wrong. Meineke tried to charge me $250 for it!!! Absolutely rediculous and disgusting of them to try to take advantage of me and swindle their customers into paying for completely unnecessary "fixes". DON'T give these people your money when there are plenty of other more trustworthy options in Gloucester! read more

Brought my car in for a routine oil change, started off by the counter person trying to sell me as many up grades as they had, yet he couldn't tell me which fluids were checked and filled on the "premium" package he was so desperately trying to push. When I came back after the half hr wait they told me ,the manager on duty was more focused on trying to sell me on things that were wrong with my car, that they had "found" than making sure the oil change was done right. When I told him just the oil change would do, he shrugged me off. When I payed he pulled out a bankroll of cash from his pocket, gave no receipt !or list of work done! I take my car home, by the time I pulled in the driveway my hood had smoke pouring out. When I open my hood i found they totally forgot to put the oil cap back on! Could be just a simple mistake but it shouldn't happen-especially not for $32. I called the manager and they sent a guy with my cover, topped it off my engine with oil out of a cleaning chemical jug(how professional) , rags and cleaning spray. The guy was polite and seemed very apologetic but the whole thing ended up being a way bigger pain in the ass then it was worth. U def pay a lot and don't get a lot. Took my car in for an oil change and they told me my tire was bald... I said go ahead and replace it... They came in half way through to tell me my pressure sensor was broken and it would cost $130 to replace... Sensor was working and functioning correctly with the old tire and suddenly stopped once their tire needed to be added. What should've been a $40 bill cost me $200 AND NOW I HAVE TO PAY $130 FOR THE SENSOR THEY BROKE... never going here again. While I was waiting the room had no heat and I had to wait almost 2 hours for the services to be completed. Definitely disappointed and annoyed at the whole situation. read more

I'm new to this area. They mounted and balanced some tires I bought on Craigslist. Very honest, and very reasonable pricing. Car was ready when they said it would be. They did not gaf up my mag wheels or tire pressure sending units. Also read the trouble codes for me. Good people, and very courteous staff. read more

I have been taking my car to Meineke in Gloucester for a few years. We were not able to email or text the coupons and they charged me $38 for an oil change on a Kia. What a rip off my husband has a Ford 350 it costs him $27 without a coupon at a garage he goes to. I will be taking my business elsewhere read more

I went here to get new brakes and tires. DO NOT get tires here. I had to get them rebalanced twice and got a flat after 2 days because of leakage around the sensor. I gave up on them and went to the pros. read more

I have what I feel are some real legitimate issues and am having a disappointing and unacceptable experience. Going on two days, Meineke still has my car, the repairs are not done, i have to rent a car to go to work because they did not get the part on time, and they refuse to pay for that plus make me pay for repairs again. I'm talking in the $900. range for work done a year ago which must be done again. I've known franchise owner Dan Swim for years, and I feel he is mentally retired, but I am giving him the opportunity to make things right so he will have a business to sell before writing a negative review. I will contact the customer service number they suggest to do before going public with my horror show, because I know I will get the cop out prompt to contact customer service as most other people with negative reviews have been told to do. I work in Gloucester so I thought it would be convenient to get an oil change and repair a tire that had a nail. After a $79.99 synthetic oil change and another $20.00 for the single tire repair and balance I wasn't too upset with the price but when I woke this morning to a flat tire and saw the nail still in it....I thought did they even do the oil change and use the synthetic oil?? I ended up having to go to another shop to have the tire repaired. Stay away from this place!!!! read more
