I brought my Chevy Sonic to the Van Buren Meineke, and they tried to sell me a $62 air filter replacement I didn't need--the filter only had about 5,000 miles. No photo proof, just an unnecessary upsell. When a shop throws in needless charges, it's hard to trust anything they recommend. I'd suggest being cautious--this place seems more interested in padding the bill than providing honest service. I also had suspension work done on my Toyota Corolla at the same Meineke. They charged $1,600--$600 less than the dealer--but I'm not happy with the outcome. I can clearly hear the suspension, and it doesn't sound right. I thought I was saving money, but now I regret it. This is a reminder that cheaper parts can affect the quality of your car's ride. If you care about your vehicle's performance, it might be worth paying the extra at a dealer. My Brakes Totally messed up, rotors scratches pads are gone, remove the wheel to check and it looks like this are NOT NEW ROTORS like what the Invoice said. Brought the Van Back to the shop and they denied to responsible for this, we ask them what brand did they use for Pads and Rotors and they said they don't know the Brand and refuse to fix. This way my first time coming here for a simple oil change. I scheduled an appointment online (a day in advance) and once I got there, I was told the online booking system is wrong and they go to lunch at noon. My only options were to wait a whole hour for service, or come back. My issue is, I get that systems don't work properly, but wouldn't you have a list of bookings for the day? Why wasn't I contacted to reschedule? Also, if it was the booking issue, why continue allowing online booking if you know it's faulty? Lastly, if it's their error, why not just honor my appointment and move someone's lunch a bit later? This was my first impression of coming here, and I won't go back now. I've been a customer at this location for 3 - 4 years and had good service until recently. On 08/07/2025 I went in to get some ignition coils replaced, after being charged $786 they replaced the old coils and did an inspection before I was set to leave, I was told that I also needed to replace my spark plugs and valve gasket cover. I couldn't afford the additional $800 charge so I told them I will just drive it home and leave it parked until I can afford the repair. After a week I found another mechanic who replaced my spark plugs and valve gasket cover for just $150 but during that repair he came across an issue, one of the ignition coils was faulty and we had no choice but to replace that "one" ignition coil so my car could be up and running so I can get to my job. I also think that it is very ridiculous that I am to be charged for a simple repair and charge me $800!!!!!!!!!! I tried calling for 3 days to call and inform them and file a complaint for a full reimbursement for the bad job on the faulty coil but the phone just kept ringing. Eventually spoke to someone and was told the manager will call me back. POOR SERVICE AND THEY CHARGE SO MUCH FOR THE SIMPLEST THIING!!!!! read more

Two times now I've made appointments online and when I get to the shop they CANCEL my appointment stating "something is going on" but do not give an explanation. They said to replace something we replace that that cost $500 then I they suggested replacing something else for another $800 I wouldn't I wouldn't take a toy car to this place please I told him before he did any work too and I said com you need to figure out what the problem is with the AC before you do anything something that didn't work and then they suggested something else for another $800. I MUST give a giant shout out review to this Meineke on Van Buren. My ABS light went on. Ugh! We actually have our own mechanic for years. Went to him and after 2 days said come get the car the light is off, my son drove it and it was off. Very strange as it was on for days and one of the days they were super busy to get to it. So I drove it out of their parking lot and it was on. So my husband and I being so frustrated started googling and found Jack at Meineke in Riverside. Jack spoke to us on the phone and explained issues why it can happen and it's doesn't have to be the most expensive fix until we do all little things to try first. He sincerely cared about our issue like it was his car. I was scheduled to take it to Jack the next day but after that call my husband read that our car had a recall. Sure enough it did. So I ran it down the next morning to Nissan. They flushed it and said if they have to dig into why my light is on it would be a diagnostic cost first $210 and that fee will go toward repair cost but what costs ? Im assuming thousands of dollars because you are dealer. No thank you, I'm going to Jack. So I picked it up from Nissan & called Jack back at Meineke & told him we found a recall and he told us ok now because they flushed it, drive it around after the flush first before going to him as now it might turn off. So we did but the light still stayed on. (figured when Nissan did a flush they probably didn't reset it who knows) So I take it to Jack at Meineke and he, Xavier and Robert, all extremely helpful and professional showed so much concern in fixing my car. So Jack explains he's running diagnostic to get codes and that money I pay would go toward the repair if we need. Jack said let's try everything first before going into big cost repair. So they reset, clean up some part for a better current connection and tells me take it home again drive it around and let's see if light goes off. (Otherwise module repair is anywhere from $1500 to $1800 ) So Jack says after driving 100 plus miles let's see what happens. So husband drove it 100 miles and my light was still on (we should've kept driving little more) So I called Jack back and he said he'd order my big part. :( The next day/morning the light goes off as I'm driving, so I quickly pull over call Jack in a parking lot to stop the order and he says that's great and said don't worry I got you. So our cost was only $185.00 instead of a possible scary $1500.00 -$1800.00 for a module. Jack and his team were determined not to have me spend a lot of money by changing out a module unless it was desperately needed. This is exactly what he explained to us the first night over the phone that possibly happens when ABS lights go on. With his detailed knowledge he made us feel so comfortable that if I have any other problems I'm going back to him. He took the time to let me see the things I needed to do to avoid big costs. My husband and I went in on Saturday for some repairs on my 2010 car, I needed my ac system repaired as it was blowing out hot air and my brakes checked since it was sketching pretty bad. For as long as I had my vehicle my rear doors wouldn't locked properly and mentioned it to our mechanic,Mike, to see if there was a way to fix them. Within a couple days my car was like brand new!! The AC was cooling and felt ice cold, brakes were fixed and my rear locked finally locked! I was beyond ecstatic and more than satisfied with how my car is now running. Mike was a pleasure to meet and work with very honest and walked us through the whole process every step of the way. Then Rick the manager came and said there was more wrong it would be 390. Then once it was done 8 hrs later. it was 450 with taxes and fees?? Why don't they check everything out before they even quote a price. I'm going to the automotive repair board with this one. Because now I'm back in hear a second day because breaks are making noise. Bait and switch, and BS "inspection." So I get in there and they say an oil change is $75. I told him it says $69 on the web site. He said they changed oil providers and raised the price. I asked him if they did so in the past hour, because that's when I saw it. He told me he'd give me a "break" as my oil filter is $20, and he'd give me $15 off. Um, the oil filter isn't included in an "oil change package?" Really? Oh, and when I got back home I refreshed their page, and sure enough it's $69. I've attached the picture. How chickenshit. I didn't have time to screw around, so I just OK'd it...figured I'd hit them on Yelp. Little did I know there wasn't much to hit. So they apparently did change the oil. Probably. They also screwed with the inside. The driver seat was all the way up, because apparently their oompa loompa mechanics think everybody wants their testicles to sit under the brake pedal. They screwed with the radio, the heater, the trip meter, the main display...WTF where they doing in there? It's just a crappy OEM stereo. Then when I'm trying to cash out he's sitting there typing up a book. I asked him what all the typing was for just an oil change. He said I need this and that and those and them and a bunch of other work. Yeah, sure I do. Do I? Well, I didn't need a cabin air filter when I lived in the dusty dirty high desert for a year, but it has been three months since I REPLACED IT MY DAMN SELF and living here in paved Riverside, so now I need one. Right. Oh, and they would have had to take out my glove compartment, so they were apparently rooting around through my personal stuff. The last time I had an oil change here it was shady, too. I hoped it was just me being paranoid. However, about a year ago this place was great. I never got the feeling I was being screwed. They knew what they were talking about, and nobody dicked with my stuff, radio, or anything. It was very professional. Maybe they changed owners? They definitely have different employees. Oh, and they report your mileage to whatever company keeps track of such such things for insurance companies, so if you go here and you drive more than you told your insurance agent, expect your rates to jump. I was about to buy a truck and I decided to take it to Meineke for a full inspection. Initially I was told the truck was solid as far as the engine and transmission. Shortly afterward, I noticed one of the workers took the gentleman to the side, and about 20 minutes later the same gentleman stated he made a mistake and there was an oil leak at the pan and the transmission. The truck never exhibited any spots on the ground suggesting an oil leak was occurring from anything. As a follow-up, I asked how much it would cost to repair these oil leaks and he went into this long explanation how they had to pull the transmission to get to the oil pan gasket. And the pan gasket was a four piece deal, blah blah blah... I finally got a price from him and it was over $2,000 to change an oil pan gasket. I was floored, since just several minutes before I was told the truck engine and transmission was solid. It is my opinion, this place is a ripoff and no one should ever do any business there. I am hopeful to report them to the state board and hopefully get some action on that front. The man I was buying the truck from had told me about most of the issues he was aware of and I just wanted to make sure I was not making a mistake buying this truck. The Owner of the truck became very angry about this report of oil leaks and cost to repair and decided to just walk away. He said I was welcome to buy the truck but would not put up with this nonsense of lies. I paid over $200.00 for this inspection and found it to be a waste of everyone's time and money. I can say, I spoke with a family friend that is a mechanic, and he collaborated almost everything the seller had stated about the lies from Meineke. Ultimately I did buy the truck and did not have Meineke do any work on it. To whom ever sees this post, don't use Meineke for anything. No there not I had new tires put on that morning and my suspension and brakes were throughly inspected and were both in excellent shape as my car is always meticulously served as it's my baby. They wanted to sell me front - back struts and some other crap estimate totaled over $1800. Dollars what a bunch of thieves. Went to Meineke today because window will would not roll up or down. Was told about diagnostic fee that would be charged toward fee of fixing car. Was later called and told they don't have parts and car could not be fixed until Monday. Lost time and money because we paid fee but car was not fixed. My recommendation is that next time you communicate better with your customers by letting them know your company can diagnose but there is a possibility they will need to pay fee but they can't fix car because they dont have parts and won't get the parts the same day. This will give your customers a chance to make a good decision. If my family was provided with this information, we would have found another company that could provide the appropriate service. read more

We went in for an oil change right before we moved 700 miles and needed to make sure the car was safe. Got to our new house, check engine light comes on for timing problem, turns out when we took it to an independent shop the car had barely be any oil in it, mind you this is a 2 weeks since they supposedly did a full oil change. All they did was drain the oil and put a sticker in the window that they had done an oil change. DO NOT TRUST THEM.
