I recently visited Meineke for a simple service on my car, expecting professionalism and quality care. What I received was the worst customer service imaginable. Initially, I came in for brake pads and an oil change. However, I received a call from Jeremy, who informed me that they had broken my brake sensor, which would delay my pickup. While frustrating, I thought, "Okay, things happen." Fast forward to the following week when I returned to pick up my car. Jeremy was nowhere to be found, and I was left dealing with a rude mystery man with no name tag. He claimed that my calipers had been replaced, which I knew was false. As we reviewed the receipt, I noticed I was being charged for the brake sensor that they broke. The mystery man insisted that I had to pay the full amount and promised to call me the next morning after he spoke to the service staff. Spoiler alert: no call came. When I reached out the next day, Jeremy refused to answer my questions, and Daniel acted as a middleman, spewing blatant lies. He claimed the sensor was never broken and that they had to "move numbers around" on my bill because of an alleged discount. To top it off, he had the audacity to say that the sensor was already broken when I brought the car in, despite Jeremy's earlier admission of their mistake. The brake light had been off prior to my visit, so Daniel's excuse made no sense. After refusing to talk to me directly, I was told, "Do whatever you want! Call corporate, it doesn't matter; our business is done, and your money is spent." This was said by Daniel, with Jeremy coaching him from the background. I paid over $1200 for subpar service and left feeling disrespected. As an active duty Air Force officer, I expected better treatment from a supposedly reputable establishment. I took my truck to this Meineke for a state inspection and had a very disappointing experience. They called and told me to check the text message they sent, review the images, and look at the issues for each line item. When I called back, they immediately gave me an estimate of nearly $6,000 with no explanation of parts, labor, or how they calculated anything. Instead of walking me through the findings, they went straight into talking about their financing option before I even understood what the repairs supposedly were. When I went in the next day to pick up my truck, I asked for a breakdown of the repairs (the same line items they told me to review in their message). I was told they "no longer share that with consumers." I've never heard of a shop refusing to provide an itemized estimate. The lack of transparency, the inflated estimate, and the refusal to provide documentation make this location feel untrustworthy. Stay far away! They charged a premium price for an aftermarket starter and provided zero warranty. The installation was so poor that I had to reinstall the starter myself the very next day. Ran over metal trash on I-64. Looked under car and saw one exhaust pipe slightly dented 2 inches and second exhaust pipe severely dented about 8 inches. Inspection yesterday by meineke mechanic confirmed. Service manager said welder not working today, but come tomorrow at 7:30am and they would knock it out before noon. Next day, car there at 7:30, they to call with estimate. I call at 10:30 and told welder is in a meeting and will call me with estimate. Get call at 12:30 with estimate of $1,100. Unbelievable..!!!! I decline service and pick up car. Once home I review paperwork and no numbers exhibited, so I call. Rich claims welder decided to cut out both exhaust tubes and replace along with six inch crossover connecting pipe, Four hours fabricating and install time at $210. per hour. Even Ford dealer doesn't bill out it's certified mechanics at this absurd amount. I am a returning customer, with this being my 3rd vehicle in their system. So much for customer retention. Three service writers and no one stepped forward to retain me in any way.......Apparently they think gouging the customer is normal. read more

In the past few weeks I have taken my car here twice. First they "fixed" the issue, then a week later all of the warning lights came back on. If you have to take your vehicle here, plan on them having it for much longer than anticipated and getting 0 communication. I would never recommend this shop to anyone, the communication and general attitude towards customers is disappointing. I originally wrote this review before taking my car to the dealership. After I got my car back from Meineke , the issues persisted. I was referred to the dealership by my warranty company, thankfully! If only I could give negative stars!!! Truly horrible location. No customer service at all. I informed them twice that I needed to wait for my car during its inspection. When I arrived for my appointment I was told that they could not accommodate me waiting for my car due to carry over work from the prior day. I had spoken to them the prior day and confirmed I was not dropping off. There was no remorse or compassion from the service desk, not even an attempt to fix the problem they caused. My tire was going flat with a nail in it and I called Meineke to see if they could repair it. They said they could, so I drove straight over. When I arrived, they said they could not fix it because they don't do any work on Range Rovers, including tire repairs. A tire patch has nothing to do with the name of the vehicle and to turn somebody down when they are in need of help like that is totally pathetic. I will never go there again. read more

By the time she was finally able to leave after missing her meeting and having to waste a vacation day instead of patching the tire and sending her on her way they took advantage of her. After waiting hours for 2 tires they she told them to patch so she could leave. They damaged the tire and blamed dry rot. Those tires are 2 years old an no way dry rotted. So after 8 hours at this place and $900 for 2 tires I told her to get outta of there as fast as possible. If your a regular customer that returns here I would highly suggest you look elsewhere because they are screwing you too. I wouldn't trust them to wash dog pee off my tires. I was traveling from out of town and started experiencing a strange noise that I could not pinpoint. Drove my car straight to Meineke and after explaining the noise I heard, they took it for a test drive....could not replicate the problem. So I drove with them the second time and still could not replicate the noise. But they still put it up on the rack and checked out my brakes, tires, rotors, shocks, etc. and could find nothing amiss. Both Taylor and Jeremy took the time to explain what was being inspected and what the possible source of the noise could be. They charged me NOTHING for their time and said to bring it back the next time they were open if I heard the noise again. They even talked with my husband (who was at home) and answered his questions. He told me to write them a good review.....he NEVER writes reviews. I highly recommend this location! read more

Today I waited for my car to be inspected. Joe and James were the staff in the front waiting area, during the hour that I was there. I'm assuming that Joe is a manager. James was friendly and courteous, to his credit, because Joe never stopped lambasting him (with me sitting in easy proximity to hear EVERY word). James was accused of things, criticized, and demeaned by Joe to no end. I was extremely uncomfortable. Joe made a feeble attempt to apologize, but I was pissed. Joe finally sent James upstairs to another computer, and again blasted James because James asked him a question. Poor, POOR customer service on Joe's part. C'mon... that is NO way to treat your staff in front of a customer, EVER. I won't go back, even though the car got inspected for $20, because the lack of integrity on the part of Joe. This will now be my new place for car repairs! The undercarriage of my car was coming apart and needed new screws or fasteners. I went to Auto Zone with the hopes they'd be able to help me once I bought the pieces. I understand it's not their job to work on cars but I was unable to get it aligned. I decided to go across the street to Meineke. I didn't have high hopes as it was 1pm on a Saturday and I knew they'd be super busy. To much surprise they said give them 30 minutes and they'll help me out. I felt such a relief. The wait was just that and they were able to at least get everything in place. Although busted & missing a few pieces it was safe to drive and that's all I needed. I'm not sure if Rudy was the person who worked on my car or at the front desk but both were wonderful. Bottom line: I am a service member of 21 years worst experience with a company ever. This company could not complete scheduled maintenance on the agreed date due to lack of correct tools. Charged me 700 dollars (cash only would not allow me to used credit or debit card to pay this fee) to cancel work due to needing the vehicle back. Stranded me at the shop and wouldn't allow me to use the loaner or my vehicle to go get the money from the bank. I was mocked by employees as they were pleased with my situation. Absolute horrible experience. Dozens of duty stations over a 21 year career Meineke on 2nd street in Williamsburg has hands down been my worst experience with a business. I was getting cam phasers and a timing and scheduled a day to come by which required time off of work for both me and my wife the manager stated it would take one day maybe two to complete. When I arrived the the next day the loaner car had been given out accidentally due to lack of internal communication with leaders at the store. Frustrated we left and I started calling other shops to get the work done as I had lost confidence in the shop. A day or two later a manager called me and convinced me to come in as the rental car had showed so I flexed left work swapped cars with my wife and got it in the shop. I was very specific that I needed the car back in three days and they convinced me they would be done. However on the third day I was informed they didn't have a tool to do the job and it was in the mail. I informed the manager that I was going to go get it appraised and would likely sell or trade it in. He nodded in agreement. I went and had it appraised. Then started negotiating a new deal Meineke also informed me it would be an additional 4 days until scheduled completion and still did not have the tool. So I decided to follow through with trading in the car. However when picked I went to pick up the car I was told I needed to pay 400 dollars because they had purchase parts and tools (I do not understand how I am financially liable for their tools or part as they are returnable). To top it off Meineke had not touched the car yet. It had not been moved and tools were not on site. Somehow through this process I had become liable for the purchase of their tools and the parts they intended to use and I was not allowed to get my car. Police were called and supported the business position as they showed a contract to the officer that in no way covered the specifics of this situation . The young man working the front then added an additional charge of 295 dollars for "testing which I had not asked for any diagnostics as I was completing routine maintenance" for a total of 695 to take custody of my vehicle. I was told I could only pay cash. And I could not use either the loaner or my vehicle to go get the cash. I was Stranded by this company. The worst part is the young men working the desk seemed excessively pleased with my ordeal. Absolutely unprofessional. Needless to say I will never use them or their franchise again. read more

Do not use for VA state inspection. Before I left, I had a $2600 estimate to fix numerous items that aren't on the state inspection check list. When I said no thank you, the employee then pressured me to do the work with threats of failed inspection. Find a place that checks items on the VA state inspection list only, not one that uses state inspection to take advantage of people. read more

Wonderful car repair experience. This Meineke location is efficient and well managed. Rudy, the front desk manger, greeted me as I walked in and was pleasant and cordial. He understood my needs and wad helpful. The waiting area was clean, neat, and well lite. There was plenty of coffee and free Wifi. Eric, the mechanic, came out to greet me. Eric understood my needs and clearly explained my options and the type of repair I would need. Very quickly my car was repaired and I was all set to go. There were no issues or delays. Overall my experience was better than I could have imagined. I will be talking my cars here from now on. I visited Meineke Car Care Center again this week for leaking Valve Cover and transmission oil pain gasket this week. Once again Rudy greeted me nice and friendly.. He inspected it to inquire the charge. He scheduled me for two days later. He has a soft ware program that he texts from incoming, progress, completion and when it is ready for pick up. It is sorta like Dominos, : )! The two mechanics that did the jobs were Sean and Sparky. I met them and they insured me it would not leak anymore. When I got He with my Classic Car, I let it sit all day on the driveway, parked it in garage and saw no leakage on driveway. Another tip of my hat to Rudy and his crew. They diagnosed for free and made anther adjustment that fixed what another shop suggested replacing all brake components for over $1600 parts and labor. They were honest and took the time to fix a simple issue instead of recommending replacing a bunch of part. Think there guys are great and easily can recommend them. read more

Brought the car in for a rusty exhaust pipe and asked them to replace the whole exhaust. They charged me $500 for a new muffler (and about 1ft of pipe) and left the rest of the rusty pipe. 2 months later the muffler started to rattle. I knew the "new" exhaust was bad because I could manipate the muffler to silence the rattling. I brought the car in again for a warranty repair and was told by their "expert" that there was no issue. I asked to see the car on the lift for my own inspection and the guy behind the counter became rude and began verbally attacking me.. not very professional. I DO NOT recommend this company or this location if this is how they treat their customers, and if this is the quality of work they perform. read more

Please be aware of your wallet will be emptied.....I took my 99 Toyota Solara for an exhaust issue. After discussing the issue with Rudy, I added for flushing the steering system and brakes system. There were several items mentioned that need to be address. 1 was the Right Rear brakes(Pads/rotors/caliper) and it was recommended that it need to be replaced. Prior to taking it to Meineke, I took the car to a competitor to address the exhaust issue and they did not mentioned about the brakes specially the rear brakes. This auto shop did an expansive inspection and they have sent me pictures via online. They could not repair it and mentioned to take it an exhaust shop. I ask for the cost to repair it, I was quoted $1200+ plus tax to performed a brake job for ONLY the REAR Brakes. I was taken a back on the cost, I was wondering if they are installing Brembo on a 22 year old car so in short it was not done by your company. Then the exhaust system, the car still have the original system when it was bought new in 1999, it needed to be address. I am expecting that the resonator pipe and muffler will be replaced due corroded flanges, age and loss of material. $600+ later the exhaust system was repaired however what was done does not constitute the cost. The resonator pipe was not replaced but repaired due to several small holes that attaches a heatshield. They did replaced the muffler at a cost of $334.49 and labor of 239.93 plus 2.0 hours(25.90)of welding manhours. An OE exact fit muffler can be purchase at any auto parts store for a lot less(150+) and its a Walker product. The resonator pipe can also be purchase which is OE exact fit for less than $100. What was actually done was some backyard mechanic method. The flange was cut from the original resonator pipe then a 4" pipe was added so it can be attached to the new muffler. With that method it push the resonator on a angle that it was so close to the ground that the pipe hit the curve when I was pulling in my driveway and the muffler was twisted. I return the car the following day to discuss it with Rudy and he did say that he will make it right but at the same time he stated that I cannot tell him what need to be done. I am very disappointed with the service and all work completed. The issue was corrected but in total it took 3 days which cost my time and money. For a well known muffler repair shop the workmanship is subpar, I am a local residence in Williamsburg, Virginia and I would not recommend Meineke at all. read more

I went to the Mineke shop in Williamsburg for an oil change and met with the most horrible experience. I arrived at shop about 5 minutes before my appointment time but work started 30 minues after my appointment time. Took an hour before a technician sent a message to my email indicating what others things are wrong with my vehicle. I was in hurry and all I wanted was an oil change and not finding of other items for repair. Amongst the items of repair was a tire that had a screw suck on my rear tire which was visible from outside and made big noise when I drove on street. Did not have that noise when I drove into their parking lot. I drove our but ended up retururning to the shop and fix a tire spending near $50 extra dollar. I will not go back to that shop again unless it is the only place opened in town. read more

Rudy the manager was unprofessional when I called him about an issue I reported on my car due to an oil change at his service center. The plug on the oil pan was stripped and causing an oil leak. He said there was nothing he could do because it was so long ago that it occurred (Nov 2019) and that I had the oil changed already since then. The reason I didn't report this until now is that the next oil change was yesterday where the new location pointed out the issue. It wasn't detectable until then. Rudy took no accountability for the issue which was clearly caused by his service center. I do not recommend that anyone take their car to this location. I took my car in for a state inspection and after waiting 2 hours instead of the 45-60 minute wait estimated, I was told my front brakes and rotors needed to be replaced in order to pass inspection. I was given a cost quote of $1599. The BMW dealership quote for the same repair was $850. The second comparison quote I got was $700. When I took my car to the auto shop with the lowest estimate I was told the brakes did not need to be replaced and I passed inspection. When I followed up with the Meineke manager about this he did not apologize, would not refund my inspection fee, and was defensive. I do not trust this Meineke and do not recommend this location. read more

They did some repairs after a state inspection. Grand total for replacing brake pads and rotors, lic plate light bulb, and front turn signal bulb plus state inspection was 917 dollars. They charged 486 dollars for just under two hours of work! I would never recommend this place again based on cost. read more

I took my car to this location for a routine 4,000 mile oil change on a basic compact sedan (car is less than 2 years old). I found a Yelp coupon for a $19.95 oil change which I utilized at this location. The moment I walked in, a rude, grumpy employee by the name of 'Blue' assisted us. He told us, that our car is special and does not take 5W-20 Oil. As such, he must use "special oil" and charge us more. I knew he was lying but I feared that he was going to mess with my car. So I hesitantly agreed. Also, he upcharged us more because he said our car takes more than the standard 5QTs for the $19.95 oil change deal. Our car takes 5W-20 conventional oil and only 4.2 QTs of it as per the Owner's Manual. So the fact that he made up a lie to say my car doesn't was a red flag on his integrity. Ultimately, he rang my car up for about $40.00 (not honoring the $19.95 coupon). In the auto repair industry this is called a 'Wallet Flush'. You take your car in for a simple oil change, and the shop finds "reasons" to charge you hundreds. Why? There isn't much profit to be made from oil changes or state inspections. Anyways, I waited at the shop lobby because it was raining hard. After about an hour and a half, Blue informed me that my headlights were broken and that to fix it would cost a few hundred $$. Immediately, I understood what was going on. The shop had performed a "gravy work" and I was a victim of a scam. I had conducted a routine inspection of my vehicle 15 minutes prior to taking it to their shop to ensure that everything was in working order as per my military training (Take care of your equipment). The headlights were in working order before being dropped off to their bay. Upon receiving my car, they had broken a lightbulb to upcharge me for the part + labor. I was frustrated beyond belief because I was new to the area and nobody in this world likes to be taken advantage of. Especially as a veteran, I always have my guard up and to be treated this way made me disappointed. Knowing that I was scammed, I confronted the management and Rudy took "care" of the headlight. So in all, I went in for a basic $19.95 oil change, walked away with a broken headlight, and was upcharged through blatant lies. Fortunately, the lesson I learned from this experience is that I now do my own oil changes and understand my car way better than previously. I know the Ins and Outs of my car which I did not know prior to getting scammed here. Through this knowledge, I am happy knowing that I won't pay a quick lube service place again to do an oil change on my very basic car.
