Was looking area for places to eat and came across this place. I thought it seemed out of place for Baldwin Park and it is. Took some time(because they close at 8pm) but finally had a chance to try this place out. It's fairly casual and has a simple ambiance. Located kind of middle of nowhere particular. We tried the brined duck, the Dongpo pork belly with buns, pork fried rice and the Meizhou pork buns. The fried rice was average , the pork belly was good but didn't blow me away, the duck was quite tender and tasty and the pork buns was ok. Verdict it's good. Probably the best chinese in the area but I'd rather go further west into Arcadia for better and cheaper Chinese food. I would give this place 3 stars if it was located closer to the other Chinese restaurants in the SGV but given its location it gets a point up. read more

It was sooooooo sad to find a bug at the end of eating. I am pretty sure this was an accident as the whole entitlement looks clean and nice. The people there are friendly and they do provide good service with smiles. However, I did not want to give a 4 or 5 stars as I found a bug on my hot pot. The food is fine. The price is good. Not impressed with this spot. The Dongpo pork belly with bun is NOT the braised sweetish thick cube version shown on the menu. It's a darker thin sliced version cooked with preserved vegetables. It has a weird salty preserved taste that does not go well with the bun. The dan dan noodle is also way overseasoned and spicy. The beef noodle soup comes with a small cup of soup that barely covers half of the noodles. The take out packaging is a mess. They stuff as much as they can in one bag causing leaky chilli oil to leak out all over. They really could have kept the standards of the main brand but chose cut corners. read more

We've come here twice in the past two weeks. Why? Because it's good Chinese food that's not too heavy, tastes amazing, and is reasonably priced. It's also really close to my workplace. Their mung bean noodles are on point, and you really can't go wrong with any of their dumplings. I'm not a big fan of their dan dan mien because it's a little too soupy for me and their dongpo sausage is just whatever. One of our favorite dishes is the dong po pork belly with buns. To be honest, I can't think of anything that stands out about it outside of the fact that they just make this traditional Chinese dish really well. Their fried rice is also the best I've had in a while: it tastes like they use fresh ingredients. I never been to the other restaurants in the franchise but coming here makes me want to try them. To be honest, and my coworkers can attest to this: you can order almost anything on the menu and probably feel good about it. Inside is sleek but also has a nice mom and pop feel. I was invited to a food event here and had the amazing opportunity to try many of their dishes! It was weird thinking that there would be an authentic Chinese restaurant in the middle of Baldwin Park, so I was a little hesitant to see how the food really is..boy was I in for a surprise! The food is absolutely AMAZING! Some of the food that were my favorite dishes included the dan dan noodles! I am a HUGE fan of dan dan noodles, and Meizhou definitely wins with their recipe! The noodles were cooked to perfection, and the sauce and spices were a perfect combination. For the dan dan noodles, they had a dry option as well. Another dish that I found to be a winner included the bang bang chicken! It is a dish that includes sliced chicken in a hot & spicy sauce. The potstickers were also really really good! It was cooked to perfection. It was perfectly crispy all around, and the meat inside was so flavorful! The spicy wonton was also really good! I forgot to mention that the prices here are unbeatable! It is a lot cheaper at this location specifically! You don't get the full restaurant experience they usually offer, but the service and good is still really good! Since we came fairly late there's an abundant of parking spots. The restaurant decor has a trendy contemporary modern feel. Sidenote for those extremely hygienic peeps, the place is extremely clean and well maintained plus split gender restrooms, so rest assured it's Certified Fresh. Bang Bang Chicken (4.99) was a banger! (cold dish) the dish is well portioned for it's price. Chicken was moist with a great balance of spice and savory. Sichuan Style Hot Pot(6.99) is as advertised. Traditional chinese veggies, rice noodles complimented with slices of luncheon meat drenched in hot sizzling spicy sichuan peppers... one word, perfection! Dongpo Braises Duck (7.99) 7 pieces of mouthwatering crispy tender duck. The skin was crispy and meat was still moist, couldn't expect anymore than that right? It's a cute place next to the PAC. You have to be careful not to miss the turn. The food here is absolutely amazing. My family and is all go and get a bunch of plates to share. The Dan Dan noodles, the fried pork chops, and the purple yam black rice buns are my favorites, but my family enjoys the spicy tofu, veggie fried rice, beef noodle soup and all the dumplings. The service is awesome, I don't know our main servers name, (I haven't asked it, and now I feel bad, yikes) but she is always very friendly and welcoming and she knows our family by now since we've become regulars. A shout out to her, because since we work late we sometimes get there half an hour before closing and she always convinces us too stay even if it takes longer than their closing time. I was so excited to find out that Meizhou restaurant exists in Baldwin Park!!! Totally a rare gem!! This place seems to be a branch from Dongpo Kitchen in Universal City Walk and Meizhou Dongpo restaurant, except with much much cheaper price. Although this store sells some similar items from the other locations, but it feels more down to earth and comfy to eat here. I came here craving for the Dan Dan Noodles and i typically couldn't handle spicy food. However, the noodles was totally worth the suffering. If you don't eat spicy food like me, you can request them to tone down the spice level. We also ordered the combo hotpot that has some veggies,meat, and glass noodles inside. Saw this place on Yelp while looking for somewhere to eat in the area and I have to say it was 100% the right choice. First off, there's plenty of parking, the inside was very clean, and the employees were very welcoming. We had our almost 2 year old with us so it got a bit messy but she was very understanding. We ordered a few things; Bang bang chicken: Which were actually cold strips of chicken in a spicy sauce with peanuts. I've never had chicken cold but this was amazing, great amount of flavor and the chicken wasn't dry at all! Pork Buns: I have always wanted to try these and I'm so glad we came here to do it! The dough was perfectly steamed and the pork inside was seasoned to perfection. Chicken dumplings: These were pretty simple but definitely delicious, lots of flavor and they filled them up with chicken. Veggie Fried Rice: We got this for our son but I tried it (of course) and loved this fried rice, it was definitely different than any other fried rice I've ever had. Tons of flavor and wasn't overly greasy. We also got a plain yogurt they had for our son and he loved it. Dan Dan Noodle: This is was one of my favorites (if I could even choose) The portions were perfect, the broth was so flavorful and even had a slight kick, but wasn't too spicy because my son even had some and loved it. The noodles were topped with pork, normally I'm not even a huge fan of pork but this as well as the pork buns were seasoned so well. It complemented the noodles and broth so well. I also tried the cold teas they had, I got the jasmine and my boyfriend got the tangerine green tea, they were both awesome! Not too sweet either. Overall I would definitely recommend all of the above foods. Not only was the food delicious with excellent portions but the service was incredible! I have never seen someone so attentive, always making sure we had water on the table and that everything was taken care of. In search of delicious eats, I found this gem in the neighborhood and it really was in the middle of a residential neighborhood. I pulled up, unsure about where I was, but I proceeded to go inside. We were greeted with "take out or dine in?!" and then told to "SIT HERE". I giggled to myself and sat down. We were given a paper itemized menu with no photos, so thank goodness for Yelp! Dandan noodles Pork buns Crispy duck Sichuan dumplings The food came out quickly and hot. The noodles were tough to share, but we figured it out. I noticed that many people order a bowl to themselves, so I might have to do that next time. The minced pork on top of the noodles was tender and perfectly cooked. The sauce had the right amount of heat and left me wanting more. The pork buns followed and I bit into it, shocked to find how full it was. I took the rest of the bun and dipped into the sauce from the noodles. YUM! The crispy duck was the 1st place winner of this luncheon though. Dan Dan Noodles - Another common dish at Chinese restaurants in the SGV, Meizhou Express's version of Dan Dan Noodles doesn't use peanuts, but rather sesame seeds and small chunks of meat resting inside a zesty tasting broth. I am used to waiting longer for my food from other businesses. The name somehow made me feel like it might be a very small place, and that the food might be just ok, but it was, surprisingly, pretty good. Upon entering, I immediately got a "dentist office" vibe because of how bright and sterile the place looks. But in a good way. The decor is all neutral colors, and you can see that a lot of consideration was put into the simple, clean design of the restaurant. Each table has its own drawer with utensils and napkins--I mean, come on, what an efficient idea. We were told to seat ourselves, and then our server brought over the menu which we used to checkmark the items we wanted. It's a pretty compact menu (probably why this is an "express" location), which makes for easier decision-making if you know what you're doing. However, I do wish that there were a bigger menu with pictures, because I ended up having to look for pictures of certain items on Yelp, which took a while. Between the two of us, we got: - Beef noodle soup, 5/5: While the bowl looks kind of small, it's actually a big enough portion for one, as there is a big bunch of noodles under the generous serving of beef. It is also generously garnished with cilantro/ green onion as well as a bit of bok choy. This doesn't come spicy, but you could add your own spice. The broth is light and tasty, and isn't too heavy on MSG. - Wonton soup, 5/5: This comes in the same kind of bowl as the noodle soup, and has a bunch of wontons (enough to fill one person too). This broth is also light and has the perfect ground white pepper flavor to accompany the wontons. Each wonton accompanied by some broth is a spoonful of heaven. - Shumai, 3.5/5: Initially I was pleased with the first bite, because there was a bit of juiciness to it. But as I continued eating this, I found it lacking in flavor compared to the soups. I'd give this another try, though, maybe before having the soups. - Pork buns, 3/5: They looked promising, but the bun to meat ratio was disappointing. The meat itself was well-seasoned (based on the tiny bit that I ate on its own), but the amount of bun just masked all of that taste. What a find! I was craving Chinese food and stumbled across Meizhou Express which offers a Szechuan inspired menu. Now, if you don't like spicy this spot may not be a good fit for you but if you're like me and like your food with a little kick then definitely try this place out.
