I went there and found out it has a very authentic Vietnamese cuisine, I was happy with both quality and quantity.

I've loved this place for over 10 years! Sadly, it's time to find a new place. The staff is great. The owner however, is terrible and offers the absolute worst customer service I've ever seen. Yelling at staff and customers ECT. It was enough to make me almost always get to go. Recently, I placed an order, repeated it 3 times. Got home, only to find the order was wrong. Luckily, just a noodle mix up. My husband works close by, no big deal. Until she refused to let him pick up the correct noodles with out getting the others back. The worst Vietnamese food we have ever encountered. Tried to pass off frozen French fries as "potatoes", served the most tasteless vegetables one can imagine. The curry was not based on Thai spices. Appeared to be Indian based (almost) curry. Had to settle for eating just the steamed rice. $13.00 for a cup of rice and two over cooked egg rolls. IMHO, they should close up, move to San Jose, and learn to cook. read more

Being Tulsa, maybe I expect too much. My wife and I had lunch here today and were less than satisfied with several things. On the plus side, the prices are very reasonable. I ordered the flank steak, their most expensive item. It was tender and brushed with a sweet sauce. I had the beef soup as well. It was tasty though nothing above any other Asian fare I've sampled in Tulsa. My wife had the lemongrass soup and it simply had no taste. We ordered fried ice cream for dessert. The pastry was too tough on the outside and just not done on the inside. I suspect that the desserts are brought in bulk and left to sit. We may have come in at the end of the run. The wait staff, while friendly enough, is simply not trained. Our table was never cleared between courses. We're kind of strict about sanitation. My wife's fork was encrusted with a previous meal. I was given a steak knife that was marred with burnt marks. We didn't use the soy sauce because the bottle was grimy. What topped off our experience was three women who came in to dine at the table next to us. One lady took off her shoes, massaged her feet and plopped them on the chair next to her. She dined in a semi inclined position while attending to her apparently distressed digits. By the way, the menu and prices on their web site are not the same menu and prices you find on the restaurant menu. when pointed out the owner just said it was a previous menu from a different owner. read more

I've dined here twice in the past few weeks, and this IS the best place to get Vietnamese food in Tulsa. You can tell this place is authentic as there are always Asian people enjoying their big bowls of noodle soups, which seems to be one of their specialties. The first time I ate here, we had the fried calamari, grilled pork chop, spicy beef noodle soup, and flan for dessert. The calamari was a perfectly cooked in a sauce that was sweet, salty, and spicy. Our entrees were even more delicious. My friend had the grilled pork chop that was served with a crispy fried egg and rice. I don't know what the glaze it but it gave the pork an amazing flavor. I'm a huge fan of Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle), and this was the best I've ever had! I use to eat this stuff all the time at a little cafe when I lived in California, and Mekong's version blew this place out of the water. Finally we had flan, a smooth custard with caramel glaze. It was the perfect size and ended the meal beautifully. Our meal came out to be an inexpensive $20 or so. The décor is quaint with colorful Vietnamese lanterns and pictures of Vietnam. Our server was very friendly and seemed to know everyone who came in. She introduced herself as the owner and took care of all the tables. It's rare to see restaurant owners actually attending to guests this day in age. Sure the service can be a little slow at times as they appear to be short handed, but what do you expect from an Asian mom and pop place. read more

Crappy service ... when the food came out it wasn't what I ordered then the lady claimed it WAS what I ordered. No doubt she confused me with another table. I honestly didn't think they where going to fix my order for a while there. When my pho did come out it had what looked and tasted like shredded lemongrass floating in it. Most unpleasant texture. Tried the place once before this debacle and had decent bin bo hue, hence two stars instead of one. read more

The food was fine, but I had a similar experience Scotty B did. I went fairly regularly until a few years ago. Waitress brought the wrong order, said I "ordered wrong," then tried to put her own tip on my credit card without telling me. That was it for me. The food is actually pretty good. I love the curry and the pho is good, just a little on the smaller portion size. Service was nice but they need better lighting! It was too dark in there and so red. lol Overall, not bad. read more

Wanted to give this place 5 stats maybe it was just a bad night we have ordered take out one from them before we were not impressed with the pho we had better elsewhere but we really wanted to come and try the fried ice cream because online it said it was on their menu a lot of things went wrong. someone else's food was brouggt to our table then taken back our tables were not cleared off of all our plates we barely had any room to maneuver with 2 kids no one came to our table to see if we needed refills and at the end of the night when we try to get fried ice cream we found out they don't serve dessert at all we will probably not be coming back. ...." pho 71" has a much better menu much better food, and better service read more

Pretty good Vietnamese noodles. I had a noodle bowl with beef and spring rolls. Everything tasted fresh and the beef was well cooked. I'd go again. The crab wontons were ok. read more

This place's food is very authentic and delicious. No complaints coming from a girl of Vietnamese decent. The prices are also very reasonable. If I ever go back to Oklahoma, I will defiantly stop by here and order a little of everything. read more

I've been coming here for 15 years and I love it. I'm kind of picky, but this place has always been great. I almost always get the combination salad, spring roll, and of course I love their shrimp chips! The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired, but the food makes up for it. Bun bo hue is to die forrrrr. Excellent service and not too hard on the wallet. 10/10 would recommend, best Asian food I've tried in Tulsa.

The food is fantastic. Best pho in town but the service is decent at best. It seems at times they are understaffed.

I love the food at Mekong. I went there to day for take out I ordered lemon grass tofu the order was repeated back to me, lemon grass tofu. I got home to enjoy my lunch but to my surprise it was curry tofu. I decided to eat the meal as a trip back was not a part of the plan. As I began to eat the curry tofu I was surprise to find that the order was mostly French fries as the tofu was cut in strips that resemble French fries. Needless to say I was very unhappy because this was one of my favorite places to eat I was looking for low carbs not French fried potatoes. read more

Nothing fancy about it but very clean and always good efficient service. Definitely local with a family run atmosphere and delicious food that tastes like it was prepared in someone's kitchen. Many good dishes but honestly every time I go I get the same dishes because they are that good. #5 bbq pork pho and the #15 bun gui chicken with egg roll salad. I have gone there at least twenty times and the service has been wonderful every time. I usually get the Chicken Noodle Soup and Shrimp Chips, which I highly recommend. The atmosphere is very quiet and peaceful and easy to enjoy. They have authentic Vietnamese food and it is one of my favorite restaurants. read more

We just moved here from OKC and were worried we wouldn't be able to find any authentic Vietnamese food in Tulsa. Wrong! This place is outstanding. My husband and I both ordered vermicelli salad, and it was as good as any I ever had in the Asian District in OKC. We're sure to be regulars in no time. read more

This place is a hidden gem in south Tulsa. Everyone was so nice and I had the best pho ever. I can't wait to come back! The only complaint I had is the soup spoons hat was given to me smelled of bleach, so it probably wasn't rinsed well enough. But at least cleanliness matters to them! read more

Absolutely excellent soups. I can personally recommend the Bun Bo Hue, Mi Hoahn Tan, Mi Thap Cam, Can Chua Thai Lan, and Bo Luc Lac (Vietnamese French diced steak). If you're a bit squeamish, make sure to order it "American style". The spring rolls are great too. We've been going here for about ten years. read more

I have to say this is my favorite pho joint in town, even more than pho da cao. The owners are more friendly and their beef pho just has a better taste. Their crab wontons are also the best ones you will ever have! And they also have a pretty good Saigon sampler which is great for trying their different delicious appetizers! Excellent Food!!! In a country where franchises and homogenized menus have taken over everywhere, Mekong River is a unique owner operated restaurant by a very courageous woman who literally escaped a communist regime by boat in the middle of night. Lisa ( the owner) introduced us to her wonderful cooking 15 years ago in another location and we have been a fan ever since. I can honestly say that the quality of the meals are consistently good, and I have never had a bad meal there in 15 years. We have experienced similar Vietnamese cuisine in cities like San Francisco, Kansas City, and Boston and have found her food at the very least on par (and usually better) than most places. The restaurant is always very clean ( a big issue in most Asian restaurants) and the ingredients that she uses are always fresh and high quality. The beef Pho is wonderfully fragrant and the best I have eaten anywhere and the Spring rolls are always fresh. One thing I am always impressed by is how the ethnic community supports their restaurants and through the years we have consistently observed Asians frequenting her restaurant which is an indication to me of an endorsement of the the authenticity and the quality of her food. If you are looking for "Olive Garden" type of food, or someplace with wonderful ambiance, this is not the place for you. However if you want world class deliciously filling food at very reasonable prices, you will never be disappointed here. read more

The atmosphere was a little different...there were no clear signs about what to do when walking in, and nobody was visible when I walked in. However, the pho was the best I've had since I was a kid, and I will definitely be back for more!! read more
