This cute sandwich spot is a hole-in-the-wall is well worth traveling to east Tulsa to check out. The spot is tiny, so you order at the counter and sit and wait. Total hole in the wall, so I had to try it. The place is very small with an ordering counter, which you can see them making the bread fresh! They have one of the biggest snake plants I've ever seen in my life, but I just realized you want to know about the food, so I'm sorry and stop yelling at me. Ok so I tried their pork banh mi and oh boy, their style is authentic. The bread is soft and fresh, which they lather with mayonnaise. There was an ok amount of pork in there (idk how they cook it, but it didn't taste like the pork I'm used to). They also add pâté, which shines through every bite. If you do not like pâté, I would not recommend it. The toppings pulled it altogether into a strangely good sandwich. I say strangely because I am not used to the authentic style of banh mi. OMGoodness, I'm a trucker who orders Bahn Mi sammiches from all over the US and this my foodie friends is the best I've ever had. Yesterday around 2 PM I ordered up the number 9, which has the perfectly roasted pork +2 small fried eggs nestled in a freshly baked-on-location bun (!) alongside the usual Bahn Mi veggies as well as some seriously hot peppers. The balance of flavors was absolutely perfect and there is something magical about places that bake their own bread and serve you sandwiches when that yummy bun is still warm. The place is funky. This place is my go to for Banh Mi's. I love their sandwich selections and the fact that you buy 4 get 1 free. Their drink menu is extensive and everything is made fresh to order. The prep setup is in sync and the workers are quick to get your order up and out. This is a take out place they have no tables but do have seating as you wait. My grandmother was adamant that I try this place because she was worried that I was missing the Vietnamese food and boba from my home town. So she called up the owner to make sure it was ready for us when we go there. I wasn't expecting much since my family in Tulsa always say that Tulsa Vietnamese food isn't as Houston Vietnamese food but it was pretty good! The bread was crispy and the filling were seasoned perfectly! Which is a big plus for me since alot of places make their meat or Pate extra salty to fit the American palate. Tip: If you don't want to eat it right away they can separate out the vegetables and the meat/bread so it won't be soggy! Plus you can toast the bread/meat so it can taste more fresh. I don't really crave Bánh mì, the craving is for Viet Hot Bread, there are a few other spots you can get a good one that is fairly authentic but this is the real deal in my opinion. I truly love this spot, I am not the biggest bubble tea fan but do like the smoothies they have here as it complements the sandwich well. The sandwiches are filling but if you can save room definitely get an order of egg rolls, these are some of the best around town. The grilled pork rice dish is very good and if you need to get one its not a bad option but the star of the show is definitely the Bánh mì. It is the Vietnamese style baguettes with various meat options with the appropriate picked vegetables. I have had all of the sandwiches and I always get at leas one of the special, this is my favorite so I can have it for later as it tastes good right out the fridge. The second runner up for me is the Chinese Pork this sweet favor with that Vietnamese may and the veggies makes this a perfect combo. Well, I am going to have to vacuum out the car. What a mess. Ordering was a bit of a challenge. No English spoken here. After reading reviews from Vietnamese folks that had eaten here, claiming that this is the most delicious and authentic Bahn Mi in Oklahoma, my wife was convinced that the #1 sandwich was the top choice and the way to go. A number 1 Dac Biet, it shall be. It was instantly apparent that my Oklahoma version of the English language was not going to get me any food here. I held up one finger, then pointed to my wife and held up one finger again and pointed at myself. Next the drinks. After useless words back and forth between me and the very nice lady trying to understand me, the apparent solution was to just grab a couple of drinks from the cooler. I handed her my credit card she handed me my receipt with a charge for two drinks, and for only one sandwich. So, we did the dance again to get the second sandwich. Vietnamese food is not my favorite of the Asian cuisines. There are a few dishes I like. Overall, I rate it as just OK. Let's start there with a base line of OK or 3 stars. Now this was absolutely the best sandwich I had today! Add a star for that and we are at 4 stars. I have only eaten one other Bahn Mi in my life, that was at Lone Wolf in downtown Tulsa. OK Yum I can't speak for all the other sandwiches but I've had the number three chicken twice... In two days. It's a great value and a large sandwich filled with fresh ingredients. I read the reviews and saw that it comes with a jalapeño slice so I appreciate the heads up on that though there is a bit of a language barrier. I said no jalapeño and she nodded and pointed to the pepper but my sandwich had it on it anyway. I just remove the thin slice of jalapeño and actually enjoyed the flavor that it left on the bun so I think I'll do that from now on. I want to start by saying I really really wanted to like this place they have a deal where you buy four get one free bahn mis , I even said to my husband we should move Thursday nights to here because his family does takeout that night and there's five of us. Let's start with the Bahn mis, they were not good at all the bread is actually French bread not bahn mi and our sandwiches were not toasted so I ended up having to toast in an air fryer when we got home. My husband got the chicken and I got the pork both tasted fishy, They must use fish sauce for that flavor to be there. My husband took two bites and threw his away. I tried a little bit more than he did but I still threw away 3/4 of it away since it was bothering my throat I don't know why it was causing a mild reaction because I'm only allergic to shellfish and pineapples(raw enzymes from the skin) so I was very confused. I think I've gotten to used to other local businesses and they're pickled carrots for their sandwiches, but do pack the sandwiches full of meat and vegetables to the brim so if you're hungry, you will be full if you eat it all. In the end, the flavor, and the texture was not there for me. It was a big let down I thought it would be authentic but if this is authentic, I do not care for it and I thought I knew authentic so this place has left me very confused because Vietnamese food is my favorite. Which now has me questioning if my Vietnamese best friend has tried this place and what his recommendation about it is I will post another review with his comments from someone who actually knows it by heart and cooks it at home. Now I want to say they do not really speak English so I could not ask what other sandwiches were because I did not have my phone to look it up for this scenario I did not have a problem conveying what I wanted, but my husband had a bunch of problems. Once again, the bread was soft not toasted when I received ours; flavor and textures were not what bahn mi is supposed to be. Now for the Boba ; I ended up getting Vietnamese coffee, which just tasted like instant Vietnamese coffee which when I make it at home, I use 2 to 3 packets for a rich bold flavor, which is another thing I have to a tribute to other local businesses getting me a custom to, but I want to stress. This tasted mostly like milk not even condensed milk like they're supposed to use in Vietnamese coffee so they're cutting corners somewhere and it shows in the flavor, my husband got honeydew with Boba and jelly one sip of his. I knew that I made a mistake with my order it was delicious 10 out of 10. This is my husband's go to place now for Boba, which he is all about. I'm pretty sure that used to be a subway that was remodeled and it's better used as what it is now because it is a very small and kind of claustrophobic which is good considering pre-when you order to leave it's about 5 to 7 minutes. It's great. One of my go to spots when I want a quick bite or when craving a Banh Mi. They changed their bread in recent years but for the better, the bread is honestly what makes me like the sandwich even more, it's soft with a just enough crunch to it. LOVED IT. There are very few places that I finish eating from and am immediately planning on when I will go back. Hubby and I ordered two different pork sandwiches. So that we could share and trade back and forth. We also got the egg rolls. We finished every last morsel and I was SAD that the meal was over. This place is the best banh mi place. Having been to banh mi shops in OKC/Dallas/Houston, I love that Lo Banh Mi is the one I come home to in Tulsa. I've had the grilled pork, special, and pork patty banh mi's and they are all excellent and very filling. They use a pate spread (extra points for authenticity) and also a yummy Viet mayo in their sandwiches. We never leave without egg rolls either. They have the best egg rolls in Tulsa and remind me of my mom's egg rolls, and their boba is very good, too! read more
