Based on our great experiences with them we utilized their services to install a whole house back-up generator which has worked flawlessly through multiple power outages. I really like working with this outfit. I've hired them for a few projects, including a whole-house lighting retrofit, replacing all switches/outlets, installing timer circuits for some external lighting, and a bunch of other residential remodeling-related projects. Their staff show up on time, are polite, friendly, and very professional. While in my home, they take care to protect flooring, and don't cause any unnecessary damage to anything else. Moved to a home in Napa CA with my Tesla, but no wall charger. As Tesla recommended MEL as an experienced installer of their wall chargers in the Napa area, I asked MEL for an estimate for installation of a unit in my garage. Matt arrived the next day, as promised, and sent an estimate that afternoon. The estimate was quite reasonable, and I was added to their schedule for the next week, much sooner than I had expected. The electrician arrived to do the installation when promised. He went above and beyond in order to add an additional circuit to my maxed out main panel. Bottom line: Mel's customer interface was superb, the electrical work was exemplary, and the total experience was delightful. My husband contacted Generac to inquire about putting in a whole house backup generator. They set us up with someone to come out for an estimate. They never showed. My husband contacted another company that installs the Generac and they did not want to even deal with us -basically stating that it was too much money for us (how would they know; they don't know us). Another phone was call made to a dealer who stated that they do not come to Vallejo. My husband contacted Generac again requesting an appointment. Luckily they set us up with MEL Electric. The woman who called us from MEL was very friendly and helpful. She set us up for an appointment. Brandon showed up for the appointment. What a knowledgeable man. He let us know that we could not put it where we thought it should go. He scoped out our yard and came up with a place that would work much better. My electrical problem wasn't solved after 2 hrs electrician said he honestly didn't understand the problem. When invoice arrived I emailed company said I wasn't satisfied would of course pay invoice, did they give senior discount. Received call told no but would talk to owner received long email from owner stating I did not give tech time to find problem. Here's why: 1] There is a very nice woman who answers the phone and schedules estimates/service, and reminds you 1 day prior of your appointment. Her demeanor is super- friendly/positive and VERY professional-- a pleasure to interact with. 2] Next, I'd like to comment on my request for an estimate for electrical service work. Matt (turns out he's the owner) provided an on-site estimate. He arrived promptly, was friendly, extremely knowledgeable and willing to share that knowledge in a respectful manner. He is also the last of a dying breed: an HONEST contractor! He told me I didn't need the service I was inquiring about. In explaining why, he respectfully provided me with an impromptu "Electrical 101 class." As a result, I totally understood the reasons why my home would remain safe even without this service. Rather than just selling me what I thought I wanted, he ran through the logic and reason of my request and we ultimately decided that it wasn't needed. Who does that nowadays? Uh, apparently no one-- but MEL. (Full disclosure: MEL was the 3rd of 3 contractors I called and who provided on-site estimates. MEL is the ONLY contractor who said, "You really don't need this-- here's why...") As a result of his honesty, I will only call MEL Electric for my next service request. If I could give this company 10 stars I would. MEL Electric is the third electrician dealing with a home charger install for my new Tesla. They are the third company to open the electrical panel. By the time they came I felt as if I was going to have to put in a new electrical panel for more space or have a sub panel installed. The first electrician said he would have to order the circuits needed for 60 amps, (He only installed the dedicated wire needed, the charger and 50 amp circuit, not the 60 needed) that was months ago. Eric from MEL Electric came yesterday, after requesting the day before that I send a picture of the electrical panel so he would know what he was dealing with. Within a short time I went out and he showed me where he installed the 60 amp circuit! I could not believe it! Apparently the first two had not really LOOKED at the ENTIRE panel, only the area where the 50 amp was installed. Not only was he able to move some circuits around and install what I needed but he found an entire section that had no wires hooked up which means I have more space available if ever needed! Eric was polite, informative, showed up with a mask and was very observant! He really looked and used his knowledge! My comment was ,OMG, I love you!!! Bet no customer has told him that before!
