On a recent family & friends trip to Banff, we hit up Melissa's Missteak for dinner. It's got that casual vibe with a sports bar and a dance floor. The menu is mostly about the meats (yay!) and surprisingly, the prices didn't make us want to cry, especially for a tourist spot. Service was a bit meh, but the food was delicious. The mushroom soup starter warmed us up. Then the prime rib, steak, and ribs were cooked perfectly. The ribs were a tad fatty and sweet for me, but the group loved them. My fave was the prime rib -- so tender! Definitely recommend this place over some of the pricier joints in Banff.

They have fresh options but they make you pay three dollars fifty just for real maple syrup. The service is kind and ambiance is like a cabin.

My husband I just wanted dessert, decided to check out Melissa's Misteak. The staff were very friendly and seated us promptly. I ordered the pineapple cheesecake and my husband ordered the slice of apple pie à la mode with vanilla ice cream. Unfortunately the pie fell short the pie was very gummy and not good at all. My cheesecake lacked flavor there was no wow factor. Along with our dessert we had 1 drip coffee and 1 cappuccino. Also not the best. The server was nice and took the apple pie off the bill.

Great food option, if you want something classic or a bit new, milkshakes are 10/10, servers were all lovely Kelly is a legend. also really fairly priced especially for the area. Can just walk in and enjoy a great breakfast would recommend.

We enjoyed our dining experience here. Food and drinks are delicious. Service is quick and friendly. The steak was cooked perfectly.

Conveniently located at the heart of Banff and across the street from the hotel we stayed. Large restaurant and has a nice lodgee feel to it. The place wasn't very busy. We sat by the window and had a nice view of the town and the mountain. Service was friendly and had great conversation. I ordered the 8oz prime rib, which came with mashed potatoes and gravy, cauliflower and broccoli, horseradish, and "yorkie pudding." The prime rib was cooked perfectly medium rare as requested. Steak with mushroom sauce and fries were fantastic as well. Overall great atmosphere and great for groups, great views, great food, and great staff!

Pretty good bar/restaurant but it was dead during the week. They claim to have live music Thursday-Sunday but we returned on Thursday to find a guy mixing music on stage. It was ok but he was only playing for about 15 of us in the crowd. The best thing we had was the loaded Chicago style pizza. It was really good!!

All you can eat Prime Rib. Of course there are sides but why waste space for the good stuff.

Let's be clear finding Melissa's MisSteak was no mistake. While on a work/vacation (wife working, me vacationing) I found Melissa's while craving a Bloody Mary. As they are open early I walked through the doors and found a place where I felt like I was among longtime friends. I was quickly reminded it's Canada and you order a Caesar not a Bloody. From there I found every excuse I could to stop in to grab a drink and chat with the owner, the bartenders and most of all the everyday locals that call Melissa's their second home. A big thank you to the owner and staff for making me feel at home during my visit. I'm planning on visiting in the spring and will no doubt be back to catch up on the winter stories.

Fantastic prime rib & service in Banff! This restaurant is on the second level so you'll have to get to the door and go up some stairs. When you're inside, it's super spacious with a very saloon-y feel. We were greeted with a friendly smile and they were able to seat us earlier than our reservation. I recommend making a reservation, and it's super easy to do online. We both got the prime rib and it was fantastic! We were told that there wasn't a rare prime rib but we got medium rare. It was cooked perfectly and came super quickly with veggies and a Yorkshire pudding. The pudding was great too! Nice and flakey. The gravy was very meaty and perfect to dip your prime rib in. Service was super friendly (AJ was super nice!) and prompt. I definitely recommend if you're looking for a nice affordable prime rib dinner in Banff.

Came for breakfast and as a steak house, this was great. Had to try the steak and eggs and it was delicious. Our server was there whenever I needed him and was super welcoming. Super cabin feel going on inside with the same idea of you can and drink here.

Great ambience, lovely and (VERY) attentive services. 3 people checked on us to see if anyone is already helping or if we need anything. Ordered the prime rib toast (wich is unexpectedly very delish..favorful..balanced...unlike all those toast i have eaten before...omg, im drooling as im typing). And ordered french omellette (my friend is vegetarian and she said it's absolutely tasty and yummy and she is happy to see quite good options for no-meat dish). We went to 4 other places during our 3days in banff, this is the ONLY place she praised (not simply bc of veg options, but the fact that its delish). That means something! They also generously gave us lemon cheesecake as bday cake (it was my bday and kinda nice to have small sweet celebration considering i was away from home). It was also our last day and we went to airport right after this brunch . What a beautiful end of our trip. Thank you, bluebird team!

We then shared a Waldorf salad, which was refreshing and nice. Then we both selected red wine varietals grown in Canada. I had a Cabernet/Merlot blend which was super great. Would've never guessed it was from Canada. Next, My wife enjoyed a Pinot Noir that was light and complimented our entrée perfectly. Our entrée was the fillet and prawns served over a garlic mashed potato. This is an absolutely extraordinary dish. We shared it and it was just enough for two people. It is a full meal for one person. The filet temperature preparation was perfect. The prawns were extraordinary, and the garlic mashed potato made you curl your toes! Then we closed the evening with the melted chocolate soufflé, which was divine. Here's the one thing that they missed and to me it's an important miss. They use an automated system for taking reservations. And it kept asking for my name to which I said "Chris" and the automated system kept asking me what's your name!? So it asked hey fourth time and in my frustration I got playful and I said "Big Daddy." And it happily received my name and took my reservation. And then asked if there was any special occasion and I said yes my wife and I are celebrating our anniversary. I get that it may not seem normal to say "Big Daddy party for two". So I'll kind of let that pass because neither front door or upstairs Host was willing to ask. But what I don't like that was missed was our anniversary wasn't acknowledged. I was a server for years, and every host gave the server some type of chit or note to let them know if there is a special occasion. We specifically selected a higher end restaurant for anniversary. So somewhere in there, even if you weren't brave enough to say "Big Daddy for two." Someone still should've checked if you were celebrating any special occasion to which we were. Our anniversary. Our server was fabulous. She was super kind helpful and shared about her experience being in Banff. She made us feel great. My overall experience, the Mapleleaf is a great restaurant. But I'm scoring you an A- because you missed our anniversary. and that's why we chose you. So if you're going to use AI, you can't miss special occasions. Chris & Trisha from Long Beach, CA

We ordered to share: Bison carpaccio: 8/10, the large pieces of black salt(?) was overwhelming the bison, but otherwise very unique and worth trying Burrata salad: 100/10, super refreshing and unique palate of thinly ribboned squash covered with tarragon vinaigrette and burrata. Smoked trout doughnut: 8/10, interesting combination of sweet (donut, lemon glaze) and savory (smoked trout, herbed Crème Fraîche, everything bagel seasoning, pickled shallot) Individually: Strip sirloin: I didn't have this one but 10/10 for work of art presentation. Huge piece of steak though. Roasted chicken: 9/10 myself and one other got the chicken. Tender and well seasoned with sweet and spicy harissa honey glaze and chili crisps.
