We ended up here after waiting for almost an hour at another restaurant. It was open and the menu looked decent. The food was okay. The chicken cordon bleu was the tastiest thing on my plate. Kiddo had the mini deep dish and liked it; lots of cheese. Husband had the prime ribs; they were very tough but had a good flavor. The service was ok; our wait staff forgot to mention that they ran out of bread and forgot to give my husband the vegetables that were supposed to come with his meal ( no big loss - overcooked carrots and asparagus). The mozzarella cheese was gooey and there were a ton of ingredients on the pizza like Alberta ground beef, pepperoni, bacon, ham, green peppers, olives, mushrooms, and onions. Yum! I had to be careful when holding a slice too because if you weren't careful, some of the toppings might fall off! I have seen less than flattering comments about this resurant. I do not understand. This was one of the best steaks I have eaten. Maybe if you don't order a medium well steak you may enjoy it more. Also breakfast was incredible as well. I would recommend this this place to everyone. read more

Went here after looking all over Banff for a late breakfast place. The town itself seems very hard to find breakfast at a non-breakfast hour, unlike Jasper. In any case we finally found Melissa's who serves a rockin breakfast. Service was slightly slow but friendly overall. The decor was much like many places in Banff, cabin chic. I'd definitely come back if needing some breaky, either at normal hours or after. A side note, the prices here are reasonable as well, and it's off the main tourist drag which is a plus. read more

wow that wasn't great... we came in for a late brunch around 1:30pm and the restaurant was empty. Not only did it take over an hour for us to get our seemingly simple order of an omelette and double chicken burger, but the omelette came out way before AND had a hair on it. We spent another weekend in Banff and just had to try Melissa's for Breakfast. We have heard so many good thing about it and had to see for ourselves. It was quite a busy place but of course it was noon time. We still only had to wait about 20 minutes. Nice high ceilings, a bustling brunch crowd and a wonderfully happy server greeted us on our first ever visit. The first round of coffee tasted like it was sitting out way to long and rather stale. After that it was up to par as far as coffee goes. My wife and I had the eggs benny (of course) and it was really good and runny but nothing to special. I also had a side of hash browns which were more like shredded potatoes, they were also good albeit a little on the pasty side. My son ordered the big breakfast ( i think that's what it was called). He said it was good but the pancakes were WAY under cooked, very doughy. We mentioned this to our server and she apologized and cut the price of the meal in half. For brunch: Don't bother! I could cook a way better breakfast at home. My omelette had so much cheddar cheese in it it was like rubber I could barely eat it. Wound up here in a roundabout way. We drove down to Canmore after spending a night at Saskatchewan Crossing and were HUNGRY. Our first brekkie choice stopped serving at 10am. Our second choice (Phil's) was inexplicably closed. So we came to Melissa's. Right off the bat they win bonus points for serving breakfast until 4pm. Sometimes you just want breakfast. I had my standard brekky: bacon, eggs over medium, hashbrowns, toast. The eggs were slightly overcooked. The bacon was just ok. The hashbrowns were nice but you had to pay extra for them. The coffee was fine. Service was friendly and attentive. Overall... it was fine. It's the best of the three breakfasts I've had in the area. Although I still can't figure out why nobody in Alberta can cook decent bacon. read more

The food was terrible. We had pizza. They made the pizza and it was overcooked. When we came to the restaurant, we thought we would have a great meal, but boy, Were we wrong! Our waitress wasn't very honest, when we complained that the food was cold, the waitress said she would check to see if the burner was not working, when she came back, she didn't say a thing about the burner. She also said the pizza was made from scratch but we could taste that the pizza was overcooked.when she gave us our check, she admitted that the pizza was made and cooked in the mornning. The music is weird but the service is 2 legit to quit. The bread is served warm with magical herb garlic butter that could lead to physical altercations at your table so be careful. Melissa's did not disappoint. We ordered the Huervos Rancheros and Crab and Spinach omelette. The server brought over a bottle of Mexican hot sauce for my Huervos rancheros and told me the hot sauce is amazing and ordered directly from Mexico. She was right - the hot sauce provided a good kick the the dish. The Huervos rancheros came with a tortilla, sausage, lots of jack cheese, and topped with an egg. Very enjoyable but only downside is maybe a little too much cheese. It was a very heavy dish and I felt so guilty for eating it because of how oily and saucy it looked. My bf really enjoyed the omelette. It was so big that it definitely seemed like there were more than 3 eggs in there. The crab worked surprisingly well with the omelette that I might consider making it that way at home too! Th side of shredded hash potatoes was a little bland though. After being to the original Melissas three years prior we were very excited to bring our guests to the new location on Banff Ave. Our server was alright but the food has gone downhill. The starters were decent calamari and cauliflower wings. The starter bread was so dry and crumbly the only way we could eat it was to cover it in the butter provided, even then it was still inedible. The starter salads were pretty weak and very small. I don't remember the meals being this lack lustre, pretty underwhelming. There was no butter for the three lobster tails we ordered one was actually forgotten (not a big deal). This was not worth the amount we paid $250+. Wine and beer were great.
