Chile relleno plate with carnitas enchilada and guava Jarritos.
    Sondra H.

I went here based on a picture of their salsa. I've been looking for a specific blended red salsa for years. I found it! And this one's hotter than I remember. When you think of typical Mexican fare... burritos, tacos, enchiladas, chile rellenos... you have a flavor in mind. Right or wrong, to me, this place embodies that flavor: rich red enchiladas sauce, flavorful beans and rice, and a particular amount of melty cheese. I had the chile relleno plate with a carnitas enchiladas. Delicious.

Soooo bomb!! It's rare to find a place that serves good tripa and lengua and they do both perfectly! I just moved to the neighborhood and decided to walk over to check it out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a cute little restaurant located in downtown Brisbane. Have a small town feel with big flavors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Did not disappoint. I met Rafael ( might be the owner not sure) but he was amazing. You place your order at the cashier and sit any any open place. Salsa and chips are delicious. Red salsa has a good kick. I can't wait to try more on the menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bathrooms are clean as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Found this hidden spot in Downtown Brisbane, and it definitely did not disappoint! I got the plate with Chile Relleno and a Chicken Enchilada for around 17 dollars with tax. At first I was skeptical cause it's definitely on the pricier side, but it also came with rice and refried beans with cheese, as well as pico, lettuce, guacamole, and sour cream. In my opinion for that amount of food and considering how hefty the Chile Relleno was the price was right! My brother got the lengua super burrito and said it was good as well. The salsa they gave us was spicy and flavorful. Also I wanted to add this is one of the few Mexican spots we've been to that actually has CRUNCHY tacos, so if that's up your alley yk this is spot for ya! Would definitely go again as they have a wide variety of options on the menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also interior is very nice and staff is kind and fast with orders![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Clean, cute restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was ready fast and tasted good! Really liked the chips and fresh salsas. Burrito was perfect size with crispy breakfast potatoes, ham and eggs. Would definitely recommend and go back to try more items. Service was quick, and server was nice.

The reason why this is three stars is because I received a dinky amount of salsa and the chips taste like they are from a bag. The other items were mediocre for the price not worth coming back for, blah. They have a large drink selection and I don't know what else to say about this place but the food is overpriced for the quality. They need to focus on good food then they will make more money that way. Maybe offer some hamburgers in addition to Mexican food to attract more costumers.

Carne Asada and Al Pastor tacos. Skip the Asada...
    Rudy D.

Been here a few times over the years, but never left a review. So here goes. Place is clean and decorative for a taqueria. You order from a menu on the wall. Noticed that they had divorced eggs! Normally I would be all over this but decided on tacos; one Pastor and one Asada. The spicy salsa and the pico combined with the thick chips, were the stars of this meal. Asada was flavorless. The Pastor was seasoned well but lacks pina. I'd come back but cannot recommend the Asada.

fresh crispy tortilla chips with delicious spicy house made salsa and pico de gallo
    Geri S.

start with the fresh crispy tortilla chips and spicy salsa with the Pico de Gallo, then devour delicious huevos con chorizo, and the BEST pozole! Every bite is a flavor punch; bold and melt-in-the-mouth goodness.

Anchor Brewing Lager, a Rare find in November 2023- RIP Anchor, serving since 1896!
    William H.

The cheesy nachos and fresh guacamole are extraordinarily delicious!! This fantastic Mexican restaurant with an extensive menu is also is a rare gem for another reason. It arguably serves some of the last Anchor Brewing Beers left on the planet- RIP Anchor Brewing, a San Francisco tradition since 1896, now coming to an end! The service was friendly and impeccable and the restaurant was clean and had neighborly, authentic vibes.

The food, a shrimp quesadilla with refried beans, sour cream and guacamole on the side, chips, pick de gallo, and a small glass of Jamaica, was all tasty fresh, and well made. The service--order at the counter, food is brought to your table--was efficient and well handled. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is very pleasant, lots of interesting decor, lots of natural light, good acoustics.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If I lived closer I would eat here often.

I'm struggling to write a review for this place because it has some good points but also some lower ones. I ordered the Crispy taco and beef enchilada. First off the chips and taco shell or anything crunchy were just not okay. The shell and chips tasted either old or from a stale bag or both. They did not taste like homemade chips or a homemade taco shell and that was a bummer. The meat was chunky and well seasoned but the red sauce was very plain. Same with the plain beans but overall okay rice. Their hot salsa was blah like a really bad bottled salsa and same for their Pico de gallo. Their horchata is a mix and not homemade and their flan is just okay. 3 stars for okay.

So be prepared to make a few rounds around the residential area to find parking. Glad we were here early as I heard that the line is usually long. A lady greeted us at the restaurant, very friendly and seated us right away. Cute small restaurant. Love the old photos of SF in the olden days . We ordered the San Bruno florentine Benedict and Western omelette. Before you order, know that the portions are huge! All the Benedict's comes with 3 poached eggs on an English muffin with hash brown or tater tots with your choice of stuffings. It was very rich, heavy breakfast and delicious! The mushroom and spinach with the sausage was savory. I love how the egg yolks just falls apart everywhere when you cut it in the middle. The hollandaise sauce was just the right amount. It was very filling. The omelette was like a calzone. They stuffed that omelette with so much filling that my hubby was loving it!!! He said it was full of flavors and all the stuffings were soo delicious he could not stop eating. Halfway to his omelette you can tell he was full but he was a trooper and almost finished everything. lol. Anyway, we left the restaurant overly stuffed but happy!!! We should have stopped eating when our tummy told us to stop, but it was delicious and fresh so we kept digging in. That was a mistake, lol. It comes with 2 large pieces of pork chop, garlic fried rice topped with crispy garlic, one egg (cooked to your preference) and either diced tomatoes or pineapples. We ordered the Hong Kong-style pork chop over garlic fried rice, which came with tomatoes and eggs, and shared it between the two of us. When our food arrived, we were genuinely surprised by the portion size--there were two huge, crispy pork chops, especially impressive considering the meal was only around $8. My partner absolutely loved it and thought it was an amazing value. If you're a fan of crispy, fried comfort food, this is definitely a satisfying meal. For me, though, it was a bit too greasy, and the seasoning tasted heavier than I personally prefer. While the pork chop was flavorful and crispy, the richness started to feel overwhelming after a few bites. Finishing the entire container would definitely put me into a serious food coma. Overall, if you're looking for a filling meal at an unbeatable price, Superstar is hard to beat. Although it wasn't quite my personal favorite because of how rich it was, I can absolutely see why it's a popular spot for cheap, satisfying eats.
