Food is good but what really disappoints is the beer list. 16 taps of all basic beers. Big distro beers like blue moon and goose island. This is my third time to give this place a chance. First time...the guy making pizzas didn't have a mask, then he was joined by another guy as they stood shoulder to shoulder making food with no masks. I had already received my food and didn't think to look before hand because the front of the house all were masked. I emailed the company and got a..."we try...but the CDC says there's little chance of Covid-19 being spread through food contact." Went back again and sat outside. Looked inside and the same guy was making pies without a mask. I was getting ready to leave and my masked server said he just took it off because they were really busy. She asked him to put it on and I reluctantly stayed. Went again on a nice day to sit outside and walked in to be seated...and there he was again...NO MASK and they were NOT busy. I left and explained why. Current Indiana masking requirements....All individuals over age 7 must wear a face covering when inside a business, public building, other indoor location open to the public, in an outdoor public space where distancing is not feasible, and while using transportation services. Face coverings are not required in private offices, private workspaces, or meetings in which 6 feet of distancing can be maintained. Face coverings are required for restaurant and bar employees, gym/fitness center employees, and personal care services employees. read more

I think others have over-rated this place, so I'm just giving it a 2 when it probably deserves a 3. However, the place is pretty dang pricey. It was $90 for 2 pizzas, small order of wings and an order of pretzels. Okay... add 4 beers to that, because that was probably the most redeeming value. Maybe I'm a cheapskate, but a place like Fireside Pizza serves a better product for a cheaper price. I guess people pay more because (#1) it's Carmel and (#2) the "ambiance" - which wasn't all that special. Would I go there again? Interesting decor in the restaurant. Pretty low key place with great service. Gluten free pizza crust was pretty good. I wasn't impressed with the sausage on the pizza. Other than that, food was good and it's a pretty cool place to hang out and watch a game. read more

This happened in November. I just found the receipt. If you like your pizza "well done" this is the place. Here's a picture of the bottom of our take out order. I went back to the store, showed them and was told that it wasn't burned and since I didn't bring it all back, I'd have to pay 1/2 price for a replacement. In all fairness they did offer me a $10 coupon after I asked for compensation but they wanted to deduct the price of the new pizza. I gave back the coupon and left to a snarky "have a good night". We ordered the Steak and Cheese and the Major Jerk, all to go. When we got home we noticed some issues. Only thing wrong with the Steak and Cheese was that it really lacked flavor. A unfortunate missed opportunity. Now the Major Jerk's flavor was exquisite and loads of chicken but we were missing half of the supposed toppings. Got delivery, pizza was cold because they messed up one of the pizzas and had to remake it. The issue is all the other food got cold. Apparently the restaurant didn't think this was an issue when asked how they would make up for it. 2 pizzas took over an hour and a half and were cold.... not what you expect for spending $75. Driver was third party, and couldn't do anything to help. Poor management was not willing to own up to their mistakes. Plenty of other good pizza places to visit over this poorly run operation. As the name might imply, this place is any classic hippie's magical, mystical fantasy adventure in a tricked-out VW bus through a tie-dyed cloud of magic and pot smoke to a land overflowing with delicious pizza with extra mushrooms (if you know what I'm sayin'). The campy, sometimes phallic art is technically awful, but awfully endearing. One bite of the Mad Italian pizza and I can forgive the mural of anatomically atrocious man-shrooms carousing with David Letterman, and most especially the artist's disturbing attempt at a sexy shroom-lady. They have a wide variety of toppings for the discerning pizza consumer and I was especially impressed by their solid sauce substitutions. Sick of a stock red sauce? Opt for the oil and garlic base and make sure you've securely fastened your seatbelt for the deliciousness that's about to ensue. You really can't go wrong with any of their pre-built pizza choices with such endearing names as "Magical Mystery Tour" and "Kosmic Karma". Their Red Skin Potato Pie is heart-stoppingly delicious, but make sure you get your Bayer aspirin in before you go; Potatoes, onions, cream, ranch and bacon are taking no prisoners and your arteries and taste buds are probably going to be at odds. Personally, I'll side with my taste buds any time! The service is always prompt and friendly, the atmosphere perfect for inviting along a few of your closest buddies/dealers. We went here on a group work lunch and I couldn't have been happier with the outcome. The service, atmosphere, food, and interior were all perfect. I ordered the small, 10-inch Magical Mystery Tour pizza, which was perfectly sized and tasted spectacular. This pizza consisted of a pesto base with button and Portobello mushrooms, feta and mozzarella cheeses, spinach, jalapenos, on a brown pesto crust. It was delicious and spicy. After about the second piece, I started to feel the heat. The crushed red pepper probably didn't help either. My coworkers ordered combinations of avocado hoagies with seasoned avocado, onions, Provolone, mayo, lettuce, Roma tomatoes, topped with sprouts, and a house calzone. They also have a great lunch special that includes a drink, two slices of pizza, and a salad of your choice. To start the meal, we ordered the pretzel appetizer, and they were unbelievable. They were big, doughy, and delicious, and came with your choice of garlic butter, marinara sauce, or cheese sauce. There are six of these big pretzels. This was the first visit to the Mellow Mushroom. I was pleased with the extensive menu choices. Not just your average pizza. Our pizza came out slightly wrong, but the waitress was quick to spot it, and get a new one in right away. We ended up with a ton of leftovers due to the extra pizza, which I will gladly consume! The pizza was really good! I also noticed a "frequent diner" discount on my bill (which I'm obviously not, yet) which was maybe for the mix-up? I agree with other reviewers, the wait staff is not very attentive, your glasses may sit empty for quite a while and your done pizza will sit for a while till its served. Ok....So I have a gift card for $10 to MM. It says on the front "Gift Card" $10 good at MM and its plastic like a credit card. I order over the phone, $10.12 worth of food. I get there to pay and the waitress tells me I have to order $25 worth of food to get $10 off. Huh? it says Gift card, not coupon.? I had put my $10 GC on the table and a quarter to pay for the $10.12 worth of food. Since they refused the GC I payed with a CC. I sign it and give it back and as I go to get my quarter.....she takes it. LOL. so what we have is a dishonest restaurant with at least one dishonest wait staff. The restaurants are back to back in this area. The food is expensive for what you get and next time I will be going elsewhere. read more

Love Mellow Mushroom. When ever we travel we try to stop by and have salad and pizza. First learned of them in North Carolina and Virginia. Happy to find this place in Indiana! We won't be back. We recently switched to a plant based diet. We looked at their website and was excited for all the vegans options. No prices were listed online. We get to the restaurant and asked for a vegan menu. They didn't have any. So we went off memory and ordered a veggie pizza without butter and Parmesan on the crust. We decided to try out the Daiya vegan cheese on it. Well we get our bill and the pizza was almost $5 more then what was shown in the menu for other pizzas and they charged $4 for the vegan cheese!! We were dumbfounded. Seems unfair to not have a vegan menu and not tell us that those options cost much more. It's disappointing when places charge an arm and a leg for healthier options. We'll stick to our vegan Pizza Hut pizzas! read more

I was invited here by a friend and let me just say I WILL be returning soon. I had a slice of pizza that was N.Y. style which is to say a huge, floppy, foldable slice of warm-gooey goodness. The dough was obviously made from scratch and the toppings were fresh. I also had a calzone which was HUGE and equally amazing.
