Located in downtown McKinney. We went to farmers market down the street. Had to try this place they have locations in Austin and Franklin, TN. The psychedelic decor and the awesome pizza. Had the side Caesar salad with shaved Parmesan cheese, garlic bread cut croutons and lightly dressed salad. *4 stars could use more dressing. Pretzel sticks were warm, sprinkled w grated Parmesan cheese and w beer cheese in a small cup. The "pretzel" was more like cut crispy pizza crust sticks. Awesome place! From the decor/vibes to our server, who was very nice and attentive, it was a great lunch spot. We checked in on Yelp and got a free pretzel bites appetizer! One of the store owners also came out to check on our table, which I thought was a very nice gesture. We got our pizza at a reasonable time and were in and out of there in about an hour (1-2pm). My girlfriend and I did a large split pizza, her half being the Funky Q. Chicken and mine the Holy Shiitake Pie. The bbq sauce on the FQC had a pleasant, not too overpowering taste to it, much better than your typical bottled bbq sauce. That blended with the chicken, bacon, and cheese was a great combo. I absolutely LOVE mushrooms so the Holy Shiitake was right up my alley. It's a nice balance of mushroom flavors, but surprisingly not too overwhelming. I am in love with that aioli that they top it with. Definitely a must try! I think what makes this place stand out even more is their dough. It's light and chewy--not dense at all! After a disappointing lunch over the 4th of July holiday I heard from management and was sent a gift card by them. It was the kind of customer service I wish all restaurants and businesses that serve individual consumers would consider. After we received the gift card we went back for dinner and we had a great time! I made my own vegan salad that was fresh and came exactly as specified. The salad options are extensive and meat eaters to vegans can find something that works. The portion was dinner size and I took some home. The service was timely but not overbearing and our waiter very pleasant. My husband and niece split a pizza and said it was one of the better pizzas they have had in McKinney. The Kosovo Karma was their choice and exceeded expectations in terms of flavor profile, amount of ingredients, and above all else the crust. I sampled the crust and could t agree more. Been here about 4 times and never had an issue until today. Long story short, we waited an hour after ordering our pizza (2 mediums). The restaurant wasn't even busy. 20 min after ordering, we asked the server to check on our order and she comes back telling us it was going to be another "12 min" because they are backed up with online orders. Honestly ended up waiting a whole hour for our food. After telling her it wasn't okay for them to not notify us ahead of time how long the food was going to be, her nonchalant response was they were backed up on online orders. I get it but I think they should've serviced their in house customers first. The server in the wake and bake shirt did not do a good job of "servicing" in general. read more

Asked the server about it and she didn't really have an answer for me on why it was taking so long. When it came out, it wasn't even hot. You could they had been sitting out for awhile. The restaurant wasn't even busy. When we got the pizza, it was delicious. That's why they at least get 2 stars. I just don't think I'd come back to this location. We stopped in on a cold Friday night. There was a sign on the front desk stating it would be an hour wait for pizza. The hostess shared that they had just finished serving a large group and were trying to catch up. I really appreciated her transparency. There were several open tables but the staff were hesitant to seat us until they had a chance to clean up from the large party. Eventually we were seated and ordered our pizzas. True to their word, the wait was well over an hour. I'm not sure why but several tables near us were seated after us (10-15 minutes) and received their pizzas before us? The pizza was delicious but the chaos and unorganization of the kitchen and staff could be felt in the dining room and it did not make for a relaxing night out. read more

The pizza was delicious, the ambiance was good, the speed of the service was acceptable, and the area outside of the restaurant was nice to walk around window shopping and exploring with my date. Many interesting stores and restaurants within walking distance. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the temperature of their draft beer, and it appears they are aware of the problem. They stated they don't use frosted glasses as though that was the reason for the cool temperature beer. I've been drinking beer for many years, and only 4% of the time has it been from a frosted glass or mug. Later, the waiter recommended I switch to bottled beer. If they don't bother to keep their kegs cold, I don't think their bottled beer will be much better. I switched to a glass of water. I recommend the restaurant do some research on how kegs cold and how to store and maintain bottles and invest in the proper equipment. Some of the worst service I've EVER had. The two servers behind the bar tonight really couldn't be bothered. I get it. It's Oktoberfest. They were busy, but it's their job. I had to listen to them talk trash about customers all night AND I had to almost BEG for service. I had to ASK for everything. Please wipe off my place after the last guy. May I have a slice? May I have another drink? May I have a napkin? May I have Parmesan & red pepper? I would have spoken to a manager, but I never saw one. Rudest little privileged girls. Pizza is great! Decided to get a brownie to share, and it wasn't great. Tasted like pizza.

I ordered the wings, cheese bread, and two small pizzas. The wings were barely sauced, over cooked, and ICE COLD. The cheese bread which was recommended (as a kids meal since they don't have a kids menu nor serve pizza by the slice after 2) had absolutely no flavor and again was ICE COLD. Lastly to the pizza - love the options but again I was able to pay attention to how long the food sat at the expo prior to arriving to our table. It was exactly 10 minutes from being prepared to brought to our table which explains everything being ICE COLD. Luckily the pizza had good flavor which allowed us to finish the meal nicely. I was unaware this was a chain. And it's a pizza place to boot. I'm not a big pizza eater either, I'm kinda a snob about pizza. My kids brought me here for some much needed down time. The happy hour is a great time to give their great selections of beers on tap a try. Tap beers are 1/2 price during happy hour! I have yet to find a beer that didn't taste awesome at half-price. We ordered 10 hot wings and they had a nice spicy bite. It came with a bunch of celery sticks and ranch dressing. There were three of us with huge appetites, and beer only wasn't going to be enough. Yelp offered up a choice of a free lil Caesar salad or another salad of my choice. Not a bad deal to try a free $5.99 salad! I hit the jack pot! The buffalo chicken pizza had a spicy bite and really hit the spot. The Thai dye pizza was good with its sweetness It also had a bit of curry and other orient flavors. I prefer a thin crust, I think these particular pizzas would not have been as good had they been thin crusts. Both were pretty yummy and I'd order them both again. I have been going to Mellow Mushroom locations forever, lol. First the one in Ft. Worth and then Rockwall before it closed. I think it is such a great concept and their dough is the best. I had a mellowterranean pizza (I think that is how you spell it, lol). Their pizzas are always great. The pizza that is based off a Caesar salad is something they had at Rockwall that was awesome. That was unique. We got free Pretzel bites due to the Yelp deal and they were awesome and great with the queso. I will definitely get those again and thanks to Yelp for introducing me to them. My family loved the food and service was good. So that being said, go and enjoy!!! My wife warned me not to go there. but I can't resist. The concern is the employees wearing facial coverings. The unhygienic practice, (I.e) employees touching their face covering and then touching the plate of food, dough, water cup, beer, etc.. gross.. if you don't mind the unhygienic practices. This is probably my most favorite pizza joint. My husband and I love to customize our pizza. I get the bbq chicken pizza on my side, and the meat lovers on his. The pizza is just so special, they hand toss them in the kitchen which creates a really cool vibe and is fun to watch. The toppings, cheeses and sauces are all so delicious.
